Today we’d like you to meet a talented artist, Maria Scrivan. Maria is a New York Times bestselling author and award-winning syndicated cartoonist. And to top it off, Scrivan has also released great novel series,“Nat Enough” and “Forget Me Nat” over the past two years, with “Absolutely Nat” coming out this September. However, today, we’d like to focus on Maria’s comics.

Maria currently works on a laugh-out-loud comic, Half Full, which is syndicated by Andrews McMeel Syndication and appears daily in newspapers nationwide, including the LA Times and on the GoComics website. The talented cartoonist makes comics that look at the funny side of technology, animals, pop culture, social media, and much more.

Bored Panda reached out to Maria to find a little bit more about her inspiration for art.

"I’ve loved writing and drawing since childhood, and never wanted to stop. My inspiration comes from wandering around and observing, being endlessly curious, and wondering what my dog would say to me if he could talk."

As we mentioned previously, Maria Scrivan is a New York Times bestselling author and award-winning syndicated cartoonist. Given that she had released two graphic novel series, one of them being "Nat Enough" (Scholastic/Graphix), which launched on April 7th, 2020, and was an instant New York Times Bestseller, and then the sequel, "Forget Me Nat," which published the following September. 

Her amazing work has appeared in many publications including MAD Magazine, Highlights, National Lampoon, American Bystander, Parade Magazine, Wired, Prospect Magazine, Macmillan Books, Funny Times, Mashable.com, and even HuffingtonPost.com. ​The book author and cartoonist also licenses her work for hundreds of greeting cards to Recycled Paper Greetings, American Greetings, NobleWorks, RSVP, Design Design, Woodmansterne, and many more. To add to that, Maria is also a member of the National Cartoonists Society and the Society of Illustrators. She won the National Cartoonist's Society Reuben Award for greeting cards in 2019 after being nominated in 2016, and 2017.

I crocheted a little bitty Medusa doll once. Most complex thing I ever did. My dad took one look and went "MINE!" It's on his desk now. I hope his coworkers like it.
