Friendship is one of the most beautiful things in life. Everybody deserves and even needs a friend. Especially if that friend is like Blobby the Blob Fish, who, as one of the creators has put it, is "the magical best friend you always wished you had".

Friends provide a comfortable oasis for all of the bad things that constantly happen in our lives. From little disappointments right down to injustice, there's plenty of unjust stuff going on, and it's important that somebody should share it, especially if it's done between friends, in a safe environment. There is such a hospitable environment, and there are social issues being constantly brought up in the friend circle of Blobby & Friends, a comic that masterfully ties these two things together.

Don't know about you, but didn't you notice how detailed the visual style is, how well-drawn and fleshed out the graphics and the characters are? Well, a whole team is working behind each and every comic, and this collective collaboration really shows, considering the output and the quality of each individual panel and the comic strip in general. In a sense, these collective hours of hard work have paid off, and they bask in the glory of over half a million followers on Instagram, which is A LOT by any standards. And the fact that this project has worked so well is really awesome! "To be honest, we didn't expect things to go the way they did and I am full of love and gratitude towards our audience."

I think he means "what's next, making everyone pay for everyone else's healthcare no matter how hard they try to stay healthy themselves because there is no such thing as free?"

High school literally pushes you to go to college or secondary school. In my hs you couldn't graduate if you didn't have like a five year plan including secondary school. And at the end of your senior year you'd have to do an "interview" going over your plan. Maybe hs shouldn't be pushing kids into college when they have no idea what they want to do with they're life.

I kinda think that is awesome your school prioritized planning your futures. Maybe not the best implementation but it's a step in the right direction! I graduated in 1991. 25% of my classmates were dropouts. Probably 5% already had babies by graduation time.

As someone who moved from the United States from the United Kingdom, the cost of an University in the U.S. is appalling as so incredibly sad. The amount of young people who have to suffer constant stress because they have to decide whether to pay for healthcare or pay off those mountains of student loan debt is truly criminal. Yet, I'm called a dirty socialist or communist in this country if I speak about student loan forgiveness or free/affordable healthcare. Sigh...I love the U.S., but I truly miss my home at times.

I've lived in the US my entire life and am no longer able to love it. There is beauty to it. But the late-stage capitalism and corrupt politics are killing me. I can't afford life anymore and can't wait til I can move away. Why did you leave the UK, if you don't mind me asking?

It's always about making government getting rid of debt. (The dept doesn't disappear btw. It forces tax payers to pay your dept.) When it would be better if people worked with universities to make the price less

Amazing how that never works, though. It's as if universities don't want to "work with" anyone to make the price less. They want to gouge you for all you're worth.

Well most if not all European countries have free health care. Here in Germany Uni is free (if you get accepted) and we have free health care.

Ya because I didn't ask to have a seizure that almost killed me and had to be flight for life to a hospital and incurred $200,000 in debt to save my life... I would have told them to let me die. I'm ruined and can't file for bankruptcy because they say I can pay for it

I support socialism in the United States. Raise my taxes a percentage, but then cost of living drops, health and education are free, we get better museums, infrastructure, and support when needed. Price tags come later, if at all.

I'm mixed in this. Over 70% of students use student loans to go on spring break. We should forgive that debt? Let's follow Europe free school. Public universities are free. Room and Board are not.

As someone who was born in a country with free public healthcare, it feels wrong to think about something so necessary not being available for everyone. But as the son of two nurses, I know that some (too many) people don't respect sanitary workers when they don't have to pay to receive their help. If my father wasn't 190 cm tall, people would probably try to boss him arround even more than they already do. As for my mother... she is 160 cm, but has quite the temper (which I inheritated), so people respect her too (after some warnings)

You got to have a temper or guts to be a nurse. I am and if you don't talk polite with please and thank you. Don't think I'm talking different as you do to me.

Regarding medical costs - no. In Europe everyone pays less. Medical companies and doctors charge a fraction of the costs they do in the US.

Before you insist on free govt healthcare...volunteer at a Veterans Administration hospital for just one day...that's your sample of free govt healthcare...if you want that for you and your family...then beg for it.

Stop wasting time on protesting and get a job that supports that degree you went to college for. If you can't do that then just get a good job to pay off those loans. And arrange for paying a small amount for a long period of time, $200 per month for 30-40 years or something like that. The payments become doable and whatever extra you can throw in can make your credit score look good.

Your student loan is exactly that, A LOAN. Maybe they should be teaching responsibility and accountability at these colleges. All this generation expects is handouts. The world doesn't owe you anything.

I know this going to get hate, but if you make college and healthcare free, they won't be free, just because your not paying for your own doesn't mean that the taxes that would be raised, wasn't raised to pay for college and healthcare. Either that or the inflation rate is going to skyrocket higher than it is right now from the government printing money in order to pay the doctors and professors. The only way college and healthcare become truly free is if doctors, nurses and professors agree to work for free.

People plan to pay off school loans after they graduate and get a job. However, those college degrees don't guarantee the high-paying job you need to pay off those loans, especially with their ridiculous interest rates. Life doesn't go as planned.

Then predatory lending with exorbitant interest rates shouldn't be legal, especially when it comes to education and medical bills. A teenager fresh out of highschool doesn't usually understand what they're getting themselves into with school loans.

As you noticed, Blobby is the glue (or the blob) that holds the team together, but other characters also deserve to be mentioned. "[Other folks] who appear in the comics are Lily, their human friend (and I really relate to her character a lot, I'm not sure why), Ashley, who is Lily's crush, and Charlie / Punk Kid who can come off as intimidating but is really the most soft and wholesome character we've ever come up with. That's why Charlie is modeling our underwear," Zack said, laughing.

In the previous post, Zack, one of the authors of the comic, has given an interview explaining the mysterious circumstances of the comic's origin and how they're doing as of right now. "I don't know if there's one thing that inspired me to start the comics in the way that it exists today. We actually started with something really simple, with funny and cute gags that were more at the surface level. As the account grew, we realized we had an opportunity to use Blobby to speak up about more serious topics," Zack explained. "Listening to the reactions from our followers also made a huge difference for us. I can speak only for myself but I really feel like I’ve personally grown with this world we've created."

Blobby and friends have blessed us with their wholesome presence here at Bored Panda before, and if you're hooked and want to see more of this comic goodness, check it out here. If you want to take a detour from these comics and jump on to the next one, here's something that we've recently posted. Perhaps you want to educate yourself more about certain life struggles from a feminist perspective; if so, we have just the thing to offer, namely Promptly Paneled comics. And while some people struggle in life due to systemic injustice, some people that inspired this comic just struggle at life in general. And here's an awkward and out-of-the-blue suggestion: take a look at these comics that explore the same awkwardness that this sentence just caused.

My mum never let me have my hair cut how I want it. I always had to push the boundaries and ended up getting 20's bob haircuts. One time mum wasn't paying much attention and I got it cut how I liked. Now it's stuck how I like it because I can't grow it out without getting a mullet (mum hates mullets so it's gotta be short).
