Sexist Troll Attacks Sarah Silverman On Twitter, And Her Unexpected Response Turns Man’s Life Upside Down
Sarah Silverman is known for her rather dark comedy but her heart is full of kindness. Instead of fighting fire with fire and insulting a sexist troll who called her the C-word, she responded with getting to know him and actually improving his life.
On the 28th of December, Twitter user Jeremy Jamrozy replied rudely to Silverman’s tweets, as she was reaching out to a Trump supporter in the hope of understanding where they were coming from. She didn’t ignore him nor did she got angry. Instead, Sarah took a completely different route, finding the roots of Jeremy’s anger – his health. Scroll down to read the most compassionate act on Twitter, and join me by making a 2018 resolution to be as empathetic as Sarah.
More info: Twitter
Sarah Silverman is known for her dark comedy, but that doesn’t mean she has a dark soul
So when one Twitter user replied rudely to Silverman’s tweets
Instead of fighting fire with fire, Sarah had a different idea
Things escalated quickly after her response
Everything is heading towards a happy ending
And the internet applauded Silverman’s kindness

Indeed! Sarah, there is another toddler with severe mental issues, raging on Twitter on a daily basis, calling people names etc... I was wondering if you could handle him as well ... look for @realdonaldtrump or something like that. Thanks in advance :)
Load More Replies...I'd change the title of this article. The guy is/wasn't sexist, he is/was in deep trouble and does/didn't know how to ask for help. He is/was just troubled.
I agree. That title is misleading. Just because he used the word "c*nt" once doesn't mean he's sexist, we don't know that. Also, such a title tone leads you to think it's one of those "troll getting burnt" content, which is not. And such a deceiving move is not neccessary on a site like BP, where still many people come to find the articles about positivity and heart warming content. Also, WHAT ARE THESE DOWNVOTES FOR?! Claudio Franco has a good point!
Load More Replies...So nice to see how she can be a good example and help him from a distance. I've tried to do the same to negative miserable people that were too close and I never could change their outlook and only ended up hurting myself in the process.
Well, I saw Silverman as just another negative liberal celebrity but with this interaction, I think differently about her.
Check out her show on Hulu. She takes the time to go and get to know people who she disagrees with, and does her best to try and find common ground. She is the best of what it means to be a liberal. Both the desire to help and the fortitude not to shout back when she is being shouted at. Liberals don't want to take anything from anyone, but we also want to make sure that at a base level everyone is taken care of. It is a hard line to walk, one that isn't easy to fit in a sound bit or on a bumpersticker, and one that is easy to distort and mock.

Load More Replies...Wow, could she please give trump a little guidance on being a compassionate human being?
We'd have to see a glimmer of hope in his eyes...
Load More Replies...I dont agree with Silverman on many issues, but that was truly a compassionate thing to do. KUDOS!
Hurt people, hurt people...so glad Sarah took the road less traveled and turned someone into a success story rather than another poor sap that got roasted on the internet. Great post
In a world where people are attacking one another: verbally, physically, emotionally...it is time to start looking deeper. One word became the call for help that this man called out and someone listened. Someone listened and acted. Famous or not.. someone heard his cry for help and acted.
Airing this all out on Twitter feels... uncomfortable, but it's a nice story.
That's brilliant!! We all need a little help now and again. Just goes to show you do not know what demons people are battling in their lives.
Well, I've always loved Sarah. She's a gutsy lady and filled with compassion. The World needs more like her!
Aww, what a cool thing for her to do. Nice to know celebrities can new decent people with empathy. She's still not at all funny to me though...
And yet even if you admire Sarah words craftiness and smart attitude, doing the right thing by trying not to judge but to understand, you titled your article ''Sexist troll''... Do you even understand how ironic this is ? In this case, who do you're the closest to ? Sarah OR ''the troll' ?'
What Sarah did was deeply comforting to see another's pain...& try to help...I don't usually feel this from others...I'm 70 now & not used to people trying to understand or help...I have to add, I'm not the type to ask for it.
Wow. That was amazing restraint, compassion, and empathy on Sarah's part. I'm not sure I could do that, but I tried something similar. I was called a f****t by a guy who routinely trolled a blog. It was a GAY blog. I did not engage him until it became clear to me that he was likely a deeply closeted, self-loathing homosexual. Hopefully something I said planted a seed with him.
The empathy and kindness and the beautiful dialogue exchange...how they got to know each other... Incredibly poignant and wonderful!
This is what the internet and twitter were really meant for. Love seeing this compassion!
Some people in our lives at times , Truly are Angels who will help lift your spirits up enough to get you the WANT to do it on your own again & succeed .
Breathtaking and courageous from both of the alike - starting points so far and at the end step by step openness, respect and a very touching magic thing. What a truly wonder-ful beginning of the year. Sigh. Bless both. And let them be a example for more of these stories.
🎶“The world turned upside down”🎶 Hamilton reference anyone? No? Ok...
I work at home and am reading this between calls. I am in tears and trying not to let this show through my service voice. Wow, this just makes my heart burst .
Wonderful! So glad she took the time. You most likely changed his life!
Nice -- if it's real, but my cynical self can't help thinking that the whole thing was staged.
I'm hoping 2018 gives Sarah Silverman that same love and tolerance towards Christians as well. Everybody deserves love, not just a select few.
Now if only liberals and conservatives approached their differences in the same way we could accomplish much more than we do.
There are people that are neither liberal nor conservative and are driven completely by logic, like me. However, neither liberals nor conservatives want to listen to those people. If more people listened to Carl Sagan back in the 70s the world wouldn't be in the state it's in today.
Load More Replies...Wow. Amazing. Love to the Dood. Hope this changes his life around--I think it did for a lot of people who read it
I would like to offer this information for those needing peace in their life. Please watch the documentary, "What the bleep do we know". It will change your life!
Average person sees a troll, they just respond with a block and/or a "fck you." Silverman sees a troll and changes his life... Sandh, applause indeed!
It'd be awesome to get an update as to whether the guy had his back problem treated, and whether he's doing better in general. :)
For once a BP title that really delivered! Seriously though, this whole exchange was so heartwarming. There are people who really care.
Sarah silverman will forever be my hero to my my cousin. I never would have imagined it. Nobody really cares in san antonio. Fan for life.
Wow, i can still see we have good people in the world which I do need reminding of. You are wonderful and caring person Sarah.
Well I have to admit that before today I was not a Sarah Silverman fan. I am so happy to see a real celebrity. One that actually tries to make a difference instead of trying to manipulate the way people feel and think. Way to go Sarah. I am a huge fan!
Wow! And that's how you use your celebrity status and power....now only if the Kardashians could use just a tiny bit of their celebrity status to highlight a cause then maybe people wouldn't hate them so much. They have a huge platform and could do so much good with it. I guess they don't see any cause to highlight.
This is a single example of what a contributionist society could look like.#UBUNTU #NotTheCompany I love You.
BRAVO!!!! See most including myselfbwould have laahed back and would have been justified but really why do that when you can react the way Sarah did u may not see results like she did but truat me the kindness wont be wasted
This is the truth behind anyone's pain, unhappiness and an unfulfilling life. Good on Sarah for making this truth public but all you who applaud her now, do your best to look at the racists, trump supporters, islamophobists, and general a******s in the same light. Think about them now and try to imagine that they don't want to hate people but they have been burned and it's much easier to think some outgroup is the cause than to realize you have untapped potential, perhaps maybe think about whenever they express this sadness, instead of saying the C word they do it some other way and instead are called worse and worse things, repeating the cycle of negativity that got us there in the first place. As much they want to blame other people, you too want to simply called them racist, bigoted, or any other label that is in effect, the same as what they are doing, albeit more logically, but just as unempathetic and ensures that we all continue down a viscous cycle. Listen to them with kindness
And so even if you think she did the right thing by trying to not just judge and trying to understand you titled 'Sexist troll'... Do you even understand how ironic this is ? In this case you do you think you are ?
I have tears streaming down my face. I am feeling so many deep emotions for the hurt. The hurt in the people I love, the people in the same environment and the hurt in humanity....I feel it all. I mostly see this as my weakness. A sponge. An empath. I’m exhausted, I’m in pain and sometimes hopeless. I feel alone mostly. This story has been a wonderful reminder of the intentions of my relentless work on mindfulness and self compassion. It’s not mirrored in my past and even presently. When I give so much to others, I ignore the stranger that’s always been with me...me. Enjoy self compassion, small victories, baby steps and everything that’s made you who you are today. No one can ever take away your experiences and they made you the exact beautiful individual you are today. :)
The guy is scamming and won't actually follow through. Silverman fell prey to the oldest con game on earth.
If someone get's the support they need to end physical pain and suffering and allows them to work instead of getting disability, does it matter if he's scamming? I don't think he is considering how rarely celebrities go out on a limb to do something nice for people on Twitter.
Load More Replies...Inspiring. I am going to remember this each morning and create positivity in all my interactions and thought patterns.
Gotta love how they had to throw in the "Sexist Troll" headline on what is otherwise a really uplifting story. A man in pain, and a celebrity responding with kindness...still gotta s**t on someone right?
This is amazing! I wish more people acted like this (including myself) She took a single insulting word and figured out that he needed help. He accepted that fact. Most people (again including myself) would react with an insult or shame th person. Because of their actions, I know both of them have amazing lives ahead.
This is probably one of the only nice things she has ever done for someone other than herself. I know her personally and she is a nasty person. It probably comes from her abusive background so I do feel sorry for her. Her "dark comedy" comes from it. She turned her pain into her gain, but she still isn't very nice to others. Very sarcastic and mean spirited person in RL. Do not be fooled by this one little act. Notice she didn't do anything herself but left it up to others to do it themselves for the guy.
THIS. Is what the world needs! The only thing more powerful then hate is love!
I find it amazing how quickly he caved when she replied in kind. His whole tone changed in a second once she responded without replying defensively. There's that expression, "Kill them with kindness," and I think this is a perfect example of both how and why.
This is one more reason to love Sarah Silverman, as if I needed another one. Considering her deeply insightful and wildly clever sense of humor, I guess it should be no surprise that she would immediately recognize someone in pain and quickly help them. All of which makes her an incredibly attractive woman. (And if that sounds sexist, I apologize)
Damn...Sarah (slim chance) , I have a very good admiration of you I never would have had. Thank you for being kind.
Because he goes around randomly calling women c***s?
Load More Replies...What an incredibly moving interaction between this man, Jeremy who is suffering in pain and a very empathetic Sarah Silverman. That is true love and friendship in the making. If only more people were able to see the good in people who are desperate and in pain and can only act angrily. No judgments, but pure compassion. I'm almost in tears after reading this story. Good luck to you Jeremy Jamrozy. Thank you Sarah for for your caring heart and that inner goodness that is the greatest trait that we Jews (secular and religious) bring to society.
I don't even know what to say. I've always liked SS and thought she was very funny but I had no idea what an exceptional human being she is. God bless her and Jeremy. I hope he gets the help he needs and realizes that he's not alone.
Ahmmm, this is what Twitter is for. Some stuck up c***s raging around, calling people names, expecting some form of a shout out...
Way to go Sarah, what you did was truly remarkable! Roxie, I wish you all the best in your journey!! ❤️
I think if Bored Panda wants to be part of the solution a headline re-write is in order. How about Sarah Silverman Shows us How to Respond with Love instead...
I personally make a point to do this all the time. Most people react way to quickly, not wondering why people attack in weird ways. I love Sarah, but I can't commend her for doing what we all should anyway. I commend her for being herself, and helping someone. Empathy rules!!
I might still think it was dumb of her to go "you're being ridiculous" to people who wouldn't forgive the DNC for their rigging in 2016, but this is a good way to handle people online who are being rude online and kudos to her for that
What a change a little compassion bring...I had to go on disability at 43 years old...Tomorrow will be 15 years since the accident that altered every facet of my life...I loved my jobs..I miss them terribly...I have two friends left, two women that knew me well enough to know that my irritability and inability to do the things I used to do were caused by pain..I understand this guys rage and pain...it's just so unfair to be reduced to substandard living through no fault of your own..Thank you Ms. Silverman...for seeing past the anger, the disappointment...the chronic pain and what it can do to a person..and seeing that all that masked one of us...broken people...
I think you need to hire me to edit and contribute articles to your blog. Time again, I see huge grammatical errors that can be resolved with someone like myself who has a master's degree in English. It will give your website more credibility than having hastily written articles riddled with errors. For example, " She didn’t ignore him nor did she got angry."
People don’t really like others correcting mistakes on popular things. But yeah, it kind of bugs me too when simple errors are made. 🧐
