Wasps. Few people like them. Mainly because they’re not very friendly. But not all wasps are aggressive. Some of them are gentle. Some are even downright hippies. Don’t believe me? Then take a look at these psychedelic nests to see just what I mean.
They’re the product of an experiment conducted by Mattia Menchetti, a biology student at the University of Florence. He realised that by giving a captive colony of European paper wasps different colored paper over time, the insects would eventually construct their own kaleidoscopic houses. And as you can see, the result is pretty remarkable, if not slightly reminiscent of a bad trip.
While this experiment was deliberate, unintentional human interference with the insect world has also produced some equally surprising results. In 2012 for example, beekeepers in France were amazed to discover that their bees had created green and blue honey. The reason? The unsuspecting insects were using sugar collected from the shells of M&Ms at a nearby waste-processing plant.

Load More Replies...Yes so much. They made it and its their home. They exist wheter you are okay with it or not
Load More Replies...I like wasps, they eat a lot of other flying things you don't want around in the garden and they know the people living there. I don't kill wasps and I leave their nests alone. If they come when I'm out dining they leave me alone if I offer them a little food, they are very found of bacon and other meat and fat.
We protect our hives as well. Our best gardens and outside summer-time is when there’s a hive nearby! They eat SO many nuisance insects! People should just ignore them

How do you get the wasps to select the paper you put out for them? This is beautiful! Like putting out colored yarn for the birds to make pretty nests. <3
Got sting under the eye from one of these jerks and it took two weeks of medicine and a trip to the ER to take the swelling down in my face! Fire in the hole next time I see them around!!!
Wasps are pests, so i find this disgusting, and awful not cool in any way.
Wasps are important for the environment no matter of what insects you find cute

These are not yellow jackets. They typically nest near or under ground. These pictured are bald-face wasps. Really smart species, and actually good to have around! They are also a secondary pollinator ... which, with bees on the decline, we NEED to not be so quick to kill them!
