3D Mural In Poznan, Poland, Painted To Remember Historical Market District
A mural celebrating the historical town of Śródka’s will be unveiled in the Polish city of Poznań on October first. “A Tale śródecka with trumpeter on the roof and a cat in the background” is located near the St. Margaret Cathedral, and was organized by Gerard Cofta, chairman of the settlements Cathedral Island-Śródka-Zawada-Komandoria. It took three years to get money from the city to allow the project to begin.
Śródka is a historical neighborhood in the city of Poznań in western Poland, and the mural was made to commemorate when the settlement gained its “city rights” in 1231. It was incorporated into the city of Poznań in 1800. The name Śródka remains from the Polish word środa, “Wednesday,” for a market that used to be held there on that day.

This artist's talent is mind-boggling. I can't wrap my mind around the fact this is just a flat painting. The skill, the inventiveness is unfathonable
How lovely. I was actually in Posnan just after the Berlin wall came down. My late husband and I took the "express" train from Zoo Station in Berlin through Posnan to Warsaw. The German military boarded the train just before we entered Posnan, everyone showed their papers and we set off again. Then the Polish military boarded, did the same and we continued to Warsaw. I remember nearly every house in Poland had a garden filled with flowers. Many Poles greeted us and we toured the city. I will never forget the experience!
Our town has two murals , one each end of Main Street , that depicts what it used to look like. They look great but that's just my opinion.
It's always nice to make places beautiful not for any reason, but just because.
