People Are Laughing At A Fat Rat That Got Stuck In Sewer Grate And Needed Fire Brigade To Save Her
Rescue groups often witness strange predicaments animals get themselves into. Take for instance this rat who got so chubby over the winter, that she couldn’t wiggle herself out of a sewer grate. Luckily, kind-hearted people were ready to help set the urban rodent free.

It all happened a couple of days ago when two little girls heard a loud squick coming from a nearby sewer, then they noticed a poor chunky rat completely stuck in the grate.
Girls’ family called a local animal rescue organization, Berufstierrettung Rhein Neckar, operating in Germany. When they arrived, they realized they will not be able to get the rat out without the right tools so they called the only other place that could help – fire department.
While many people consider rats to be pests and some probably wouldn’t even bother saving the animal, the whole fire brigade arrived to lend a hand.
In no time the rat was rescued successfully and experienced no injuries. Then she was released back to the sewer and let’s just hope she won’t get stuck in the grate again.
After the rescue operation was complete the two girls thank firemen for saving the animal and drew them an adorable picture of a rat.

Aww my rat Mildred died about a week ago but she was so fat this def would have happened to her :) miss you Milly
Aww, I'm so sorry about your pet, rats are so exceptionally loving and attached to their owners. I've never met a pet rat who didn't want to cuddle!

Humanity is so weird. We can exterminate whole colonies of rats and feel a sense of relief after the job is done. But let one be caught in a grate, and look cute and helpless, then we run to rescue it. What if the rat had been stuck in a rat trap? Would anyone have called for help?
I think the only reason they helped is because of the two little girls who reported it. In that regard it reminds me of the time my cat was crying through the window at this mouse stuck in our window well and I told my dad so he rescued it and let it go in the park. After I was like "why did you let it go" and he said it was because I was watching. :P I was young-ish but not so young that I didn't know mice/rats are not usually treated that humanely.

Aww, that's sweet. I once rescued a bird who managed to get his/her self stuck in a storm drain..not sure how. Was walking past when I heard fluttering and peeps from a storm drain, looked down and there was a magpie or something similar that had somehow managed to get into the drain but couldn't get out cos of the bars..so I told the bird hang on a sec! I'll lift the grate for you! (Yes I talk to animals in distress) Lifted it up, birdy got out and flew off! Didn't get any thanks mind you but y'know..birds being what they are :P
It is adorable to see how one of the little girls has Mickey Mouse on her shirt! She was meant to help out that rat! even though Mickey is a mouse or what not
(First photo) Do you spell "HELLLLLLP !" with five L's or six ? And why didn't someone try Pam (spray) first ?
Because it happend in Germany and we don't use something like Pam spray. I had to google it first. Never heard of it.
