Of all the existing interior designs, steampunk is, probably, one of the richest, and certainly for the richest. Why? Because the steampunk interior is, first of all, a load of details, most being unique and expensive. As such, steampunk is rare enough. And not just because of its huge spendings, but also because not everyone is ready to modify the dwelling so fundamentally. Hence, if you choose steampunking your apartment, you will definitely attract everyone`s attention. But get ready for much time and effort!

Steampunk for ardent adventure lovers

Fancy and adventure books are the ones that inspired the steampunk style. So, if you admired the novels by Jules Verne or Louis Boussenard when a child, you will find this style at least charming. People with creative minds will also appreciate the steampunk originality, since it`s very popular among daydreamers living in their imaginative, fictional and romantic worlds. It is even more fabulous and romantic that there are no ready-made steampunk accessories: all is your sole fancy! And the more adventurous (and wealthy) you are, the more exquisite your steampunk will be. Get ready to search for your decoration elements everywhere, including to make the stuff with your own hands – use the old-looking books, pipes, any travel-related items, and your school globe will be an absolute jewel of your steampunk design. Gearwheels, jacks and levers are encouraged in excess, because they are typical of the steam engine invented at those marvelous times of adventures. Air balloons and airships are frequent steampunk elements – use them as drawings, or painted copies, or small-scale models. Make a fireplace – either true or false – in the form of a steam engine.

Steampunk colors and materials

Traditional steampunk colors are primarily all brown tones, as well as brassy, black and bronze. Those palettes are deemed to be the colors of the Victorian-time adventures.
Use as natural materials as possible. Give preference to wood: make all your facades wooden, and buy heavy wooden furniture falling within the above ‘b’-color palettes. Stone, glass and steel will also help you win and only add more value to your steampunk if matched correctly. But don`t let any plastic in your design – it could hardly be found in the Victorian England. Say ‘no’ to any hi-tech looking equipment and multifunctional fixtures – decorate them properly (though, this may cost you a lot).

Pipes are a very nice solution for steampunking your facilities. Often, designers a kind of embrace the rooms with decoration pipes, and some even make the authentic furniture of various copper pipes, which keeps not only the overall design concept but also the entire functionality.

To steampunk your dwelling, you need a lot of time and money. It is very likely you will need the help of experts. But isn`t it worth the pains if you are a true adventure fan? Perhaps, you need a bit more than just sitting in the four minimalistic walls and watching your smart TV. And who knows – maybe, this will become an impetus for the long-desired adventurous travels to the fancy places that had boggled your mind many years ago.
