Some people, when receiving generous help with their everyday problems by strangers, choose to push for more instead of showing some of the deserved gratitude. And these people, my friend, are just the worst. While some of the helpers decided to kill them with kindness, others delivered the best comebacks for the ungrateful.

I was in my Biology Profs office the day after we took an exam on how cells metabolize nutrients. I ask her what grade I got. She says 109. I paused.."how'd I get a 109 off a test that's only 100 points." She said that she had to add 13 points to everyones score or over half the class would've failed. Seriously?!? The test wasn't even that hard. She showed me some of the answers to the question Why Do We Breathe Oxygen and Exhaled C02 and Water Vapor. The answers.."We have to or we will die." Uhm..no dimwit. To all the people trying to excuse this, just no. This isn't a parent or someone on disability. This is a teenager looking for a summer job or someone who just graduated high school and whose parents told them they need to get a job. They added the mayo thing because they're probably mostly applying to fast food. There are tons of resume help websites with templates and spell check and everything. This is the product of someone who has never had a job, because they obviously think that they can dictate what they will and won't do (ie the mayonnaise) and think that they can tell the company what hours they are willing to work. That working 15-25 hrs is more than enough. This is a kid who is in for a shock when someone finally takes the time to give her a dose of reality. I know this because I've had this exact conversation with 3 teenagers, and will probably have it a few more times when the other kids hit 16 and want money. One thought he could make $1000+ a month working 20 hours..
... at McDonalds. With a D- average. The concept of minimum wage, state/ federal/SS tax, combined with the actual amounts of rent, food, costs of transport, etc, were a HUGE shock to him. He honestly thought he would be able to work part time, find a 2 bedroom apartment for $200 a month, buy a car for $300 and have no further expenses. No bills, no insurance, no gas, he thought all of that was included in rent and the price of the car. By the time we got to things like toilet paper and shampoo, he was catatonic. He accused us of exaggerating. When we told him that we were quoting the cheapest we could find, he was incredulous. Needless to say, the monthly cost of the life he thought he'd have once he moved out was about $600 more than his $1000 a month minimum wage part time job.

I have a phobia of white liquidy foods, so mayo if definitely a no no food, even the sight of it makes me queasy. I had a similar experience like this on eBay--I was selling 3 brand new, still-in-package sets of Hello Kitty lights (on strings, like for Christmas or around your room), and some lady begged me to knock down my price and hold them for her until she had the money so she could buy them for her daughter's birthday party. I agreed, but she kept stalling and stalling, and I told her if somone wanted them for the full price AND PAID FOR THEM, I was going to sell them to the other person. Well, that's what happened, and of course, *I* was the bad guy for ruining her daughter's birthday party, because she PROMISED her daughter she'd have them. Maybe I'm wrong, but I have a hard time feeling bad about this.

I get so tired of seeing all the parents begging and using their kids to try and get free stuff. If you can't afford it, little johnny might as well learn early that they aren't going to get everything they want
I was living in the US and used to see a lot of veterans at intersections holding cardboard signs asking for money or means to go on with their lives. I always felt so deeply sorry that they had to endure a war, literally having their lives on the line. One day I found a guy who looked older. I pulled down my window and handed him a $20 and said "Thank you for your service, God bless you". He faltered. Looked me in the eyes, but accepted. No 'Thank you'. As soon as the light went green, he banged on the side of my car 3 times and yelled "Go away! You're stealing our jobs!". I was shocked. I had been relocated from my country to the US *by the North American company* where I used to work because my specific skills were a fit for the position. I was not 'stealing' anyone's job. I feel so sorry that Veterans have to go through this, after all they have endured. They should have proper social and health care. His rage was not against *me*. It was against the lack of dignity he deserved.
Unfortunately, some of these panhandlers are dealing with mental illness. I've seen them fighting over who gets what corner to beg from. They can be angry at life or just whatever.

A "friend" came over and told me a sob story about how he was going to lose his car because he gave all his money to charity that month (yea, right). The man is able bodied, so I offered to help if he would agree to help me paint my house. He signed a contract that detailed hourly rate & all. He worked off about half the money I gave him in advance. Then he skipped town without a phone call, an offer to pay at a later date when he was back on his feet, or an apology. The jerk had the nerve to call me up ten years later saying he was moving back in town. He said he needed a place to stay. He said he needed money to rent a storefront and open a business he wanted to start. Hmmm...He didn't ask for help, he just told me his needs. I was supposed to leap to the rescue of the poor dear. This guy only expects the best out of his friends. Funny how he won't give so much as a phone call in return. I told him to give me a call when he was settled in, and we could go for coffee ...
Once I stepped in at the last minute to teach a cooking class when the regular instructor was stuck in traffic. When he thanked me I made the mistake of saying "no problem!" which he interpreted as "no need to pay me!" 4 hours I will never get back
I truly appreciate the polite and civil answers given by the advertisers/posters to these "choosy beggars". Especially after reading the beggars' responses when their wishes were denied! I would have to put such a rein on my "sarcasm stallion" he'd flip over! Personally, I don't give change nor supplies to pan handlers. I have seen them get picked up and dropped off at prime off-ramp locations by white vans to believe that they have no support systems. However, I do give money to the local advocacy and support groups for the homeless and donate food to the pantries and food drives on a regular basis. The person complaining about the food handed out by the local pantry not meeting their particular tastes was especially galling. I cannot bring myself to feel sorry for these people, I just pity them.
Yeah, I advertised 5 free boxes of fabric scraps for quilting. Had a second person show up after I gave away the first five, and I put together 3 more boxes for her and she complained because I "wasted" her time!
Some people just don't understand gratitude. The world does not owe you a living - the world was here first. You want a living, work for one. However, if you are down and out because you had a run of sh***y luck, I don't mind lending a helping hand.

On a reverse of this, I made a relative a necklace as a gift and someone asked her where she got it. She told them it was handmade and they asked her if I would make one for them, they would pay $50 for it. Without even asking me she told them no because I am too busy to sell my crafts, it's just a hobby. It is just a hobby, and her piece was the first one I made, but shouldn't it be my choice who I make items for?

I said "not my problem mate, if you can't pick it up I'm selling it full price to someone who can".

I could just donate them to charity, but I would like friends and acquaintances to enjoy them, because I sure did when I had them! I also listed them on some message boards, offering them to strangers. In the end, not one of those "friends" who took my stuff even sent a "thank you" message after receiving the items, while the complete strangers took their time to thank me and tell me the stuff are useful to them...

It's actually not something I'm used to seeing, especially the online convos(I might be wrong but I think this kind of sh*t is less widespread here because people on the whole have lower life standards and are usually more grateful for what they do have/get) so that was a very entertaining read. It makes me wonder...are those like op unique cases or is this actually a common kind of attitude? This whole attitude...it's like very very infantile and it seems that's becoming a common thing in modern adults, especially in developed countries. With the coddling to kids' whims, with whole 'you can be whatever you want and do whatever you like'(yes, but there are certain limits to this...), with generous social support...to an extent all these things are great and much needed, but is this actually what we are getting on the big scale? A generation littered with people who want the world to comply to their every whim, adults with mentality of 5 year olds? That's alarming...
It's a common attitude, just not quite on this scale all the time. People complaining about getting the wrong gift, wanting a specific free coupon, complaining about free content not being as they expect, things like that.
