Inspired By Dad’s Viral Photo, John Legend Helps Pampers Install 5,000 Changing Tables In Men’s Restrooms
In today’s day and age, most of us are quite used to the idea that taking care of a child is not just a mother’s responsibility. Men all over the world are speaking up for the recognition they deserve. The traditional and quite sexist way of thinking that only women should be provided all the necessities needed in public places to take care of their children has been a major problem. One of the biggest examples of such unfairness is the lack of changing tables in men’s public bathrooms, but hopefully, with the hashtag #squatforchange going viral, we are up for a very positive change.
More info: squatforchange
Recently, one man named Donte Palmer showed how fathers have to change diapers in public bathrooms since there are no changing tables for men

In a now viral photo, Donte is captured squatting in a public toilet while holding his child on his knees in order to change his diaper.
After Donte’s photo went viral, more men showed their support by capturing themselves squatting in public bathrooms

The movement quickly turned into a viral #squatforchange hashtag with men all over the country demanding changing tables in men’s public bathrooms.

Tired of constantly having to change their baby’s diapers in the most uncomfortable places, fathers started to demand changing tables in their bathrooms as well. The fact that they exist only in women’s bathrooms is not only sexist, it also causes great inconvenience.

If you believe in the positive change this initiative is making, you can donate to them on their website.
Then, many squatting photos later, the initiative caught John Legend’s and Pampers’ attention
Because of the #squatforchange movement, Pampers collaborated with John Legend and KoalaKare to install 5,000 new changing tables in public restrooms.
You can watch this video to learn more about it
Many people loved this initiative and showed their complete support

Share on FacebookWhat they need is more Family Bathrooms. One's that can accommodate men and women with kids as well as people with special needs teens and adults. I've gone to several malls across the country that have such bathrooms and many of the Walmarts, Krogers and newly built stores are making the change. Practically every mall in the Carolina's have them..why is it so hard for architects to put in these bathrooms, especially with the growing number of adults with autism and cp.....
Yes. I cannot fathom how people with special needs use bathrooms for the general population- I find it a matter of gross neglect that better thought and planning has not gone in to such basic needs.

So true, but let's not forget the OP who this originated from - Dante Palmer. John Legend picked up the ball and ran with it though!

Good idea. A lot of places don't even have them in the men's OR women's room!
There are a lot of places where kids don't belong, either. That might be a clue.

I'd happy escort any father into the ladies' room to use the changing table. Dare anyone to say anything! But my question is this; why are single use public restrooms still gendered? If it's single with a lock, I don't even pay attention to the sign on the door. In Colorado they can't say anything to you.
Unfortunately, I just read an article today, that people have been putting stickers on the changing tables in the men's bathrooms, that says something like "This is what the feminization of American Men looks like." I might be wrong with about the exact wording, but no matter, it's a shame they can't see the positive in this.
Yes to familie bathrooms, yes to changing tables in both gender bathrooms, no to changing your baby on the table in a restaurant. Thats gross for the other customers. If there is no table in the mens room, just go into the women's one and afterwards talk to the staff/owner about getting an extra changing table in the men's. Yuk.
It is absurd to me that there are any locations where children can reasonably be in a public place that does not have a place to change a baby. I am a mom and my kids are all teens. When they were little, the universal changing table in women's restrooms was still becoming a thing. When I encountered a place that didn't have a changing facility, I pulled a mat out of the diaper bag and changed my kid on the floor in their establishment wherever it was convenient for ME to do so. Right in front of the service desk was frequently a good spot. That dads continue to lack this access is just stupid. If you want the poop to stay in the bathroom, give EVERYBODY a place to change diapers in the bathrooms. Otherwise, I think every dad without access to a changing facility should be stinking up some service desks.
Whilst I agree with you, I wouldn't do it just because I feel it would be unfair to my child to change them wherever. Even at two years old they can understand a lot, and they can feel embarrassed and/or shy

Props to john legend and pampers. But do you not have change tables in the disabled toilet in america? Because that is where they most often are in australia now, so anyone can use them.
It's about time architects and planners revolutionized bathrooms completely. We need gender neutral bathrooms, we need family bathrooms, we need a much greater proportion of women's to mens, like about 4 to 1, judging on the lines I see. We could do away with all the problems if people were to accept unisex bathrooms which were all individual stalls with their own sinks and mirrors and some machine to control the raising and lowering of seats. Make sure at least 25 percent of those stalls were disabled/family size with changing tables and problem solved.
When we were a young family, we had no money to eat out, but I know we would have been ecstatic to have a change table, thanks for this now, It's important for women's & men's bathrooms !!!
So glad in Australia there are Parent Rooms, all set up with change areas, loos, feeding areas and sometimes tv and a play area! so awesome!
Well, the US is fast becoming a fascist state. Abortion is all but illegal. They've removed virtually every clinic, so while it's technically legal, there's nowhere to go.

I'm not trying to diminish this in any way but don't disabled toilets have changing tables?
Hey, Hollie. Actually, they usually don't because those facilities are for people with special needs, who may not be able to use any other place in an emergency. We should be able to provide safe places for everyone to relieve themselves in privacy.

Are you kidding? Some woman here had a meltdown because she thought that a butch looking woman was actually a man trying to pass himself off as female so he could be a pervert. Not only did she smack the poor woman, when the victim said "I'm female!!" The attacker had the audacity to say "Prove it!" I'm sorry..so she has to whip out her boobs or expose her VeeJay so this woman would leave her alone? Who's the real perve then?
Load More Replies...I've been in department stores that didn't have a table in the women's room either. Babies gotta get changed. IDGAF, I'll do it on your $250 piece of furniture on display.
That’s why you wipe the change table down first or use a change mat on top.
