TikToker Roasts Chanel By Revealing What’s Inside Its ‘Glamorous’ $825 Advent Calendar

Christmas time is surely a special time full of surprises, awaited events, and various traditions. For a lot of people, one of those little and special traditions is buying an Advent calendar that helps to mark the days until Christmas morning by giving a small treat. For many years, this Advent calendar was known to be the kind that contained small pieces of chocolate, but it seems that with time, various industries have decided to incorporate the calendar idea to sell and promote their products. In recent years, beauty advent calendars have become a thing. Soon almost every beauty brand could offer one. And this year, marking the 100-year anniversary of the famous Chanel N°5 fragrance, the luxury brand decided to create and sell an advent calendar for $825, making it one of the most expensive Advent calendars.

More Info: TikTok

Advent calendars containing beauty products have become one of the most popular purchases that people love to buy

Its extraordinary packaging already promises that the goods inside should be really special. Having this in mind, people online were given an opportunity to see what the huge Chanel box contained inside as TikTok user @eliseharmon decided to purchase the calendar and share what she found inside, soon making her videos about the calendar viral.

TikTok user Elise also decided to treat herself and bought Chanel’s Advent calendar that costs $825

The young woman started her TikTok video by showing an unpacked box that was Chanel’s Advent calendar. She admitted that she was drawn to it as she had never seen a Chanel calendar and wanted to find out if “it’s worth the hype.” The woman was happy with the packaging and kept on unpacking the calendar further to find out what luxury things she was about to find. One of the first things she took out of the packaging was stickers. This shocked the TikToker who was laughing at her first gift.

Having in mind how luxurious this brand is, the woman was very keen to find out what kind of goodies were in the box

She was quite disappointed to see that most of the items that were included in the box were cheap things that she would hardly use

The woman whose name is Elise Harmon kept updating her followers on what were some of the other things in the calendar, as this situation brought the attention of many others online. Among the things that she received, many of them were truly disappointing: stickers, a paperweight, temporary tattoos, a cheap-looking snowball. Only a few products looked worthy: a red nail polish, a bottle of perfume, a bath soap, and a hand cream. Later the woman revealed that the cost of the products that were found in the box was around $200-250 when the cost of the calendar was $825.

Despite most of the things being small items such as a dust bag and a flip book, there were a few products that were valuable, one of them being the famous Chanel perfume

Some might think that before buying such an expensive product, the woman should’ve checked what the box contained. Elise explained that she purchased the calendar not online, but in the actual store, and there was no description of what was in the package. Besides, she revealed that she likes not to know what is inside as it should be a surprise. Another reason for not actually looking at what the calendar contains was that she trusted the brand, saying that she has always known it for its luxury and high quality.

This story gained a lot of attention as a lot of people are familiar with or at least have heard about the brand. The woman also shared that she was blocked by Chanel on Tiktok, but the brand soon clarified the situation by telling her that they didn’t do this as they don’t upload any content on Chanel’s TikTok channel, and it is kept private without any followers.

Once the woman shared her calendar reveal online, people started a discussion about how the meaning of being a luxury brand has changed

Elise revealed that Chanel blocked her on TikTok, which later was denied by the brand

After this story, Elise started sharing some of the Advent calendars that she received from other well-known brands such as Jo Malone and New Beauty. She was glad to receive them as they did contain products that were useable, high-quality, and worth the price.

People online couldn’t believe that this is what’s in the celebrated Advent calendar by Chanel

The video creator later shared that the cost of the items in the box was around $200-250

You'd think a brand as classy as Chanel would put decent stuff in an advent calendar that costs over $800! "Cheapel"? Haw haw haw! At least include stuff that one can't get at the Chanel counter in a store.

"Luxury" brands have been a scam since they first started being mass manufactured instead of 100% bespoke. They literally sell you a $5 product for $50. That 1000% markup is just paying for the name/logo. Companies like Apple totally do it too, but aren't quite as bad as the 'designer' fashion labels.

It's seriously just sad that people are blaming the woman for buying the product in the first place? Like no, it's her money and she gets to decide what she wants to do with it. She wanted to treat herself with something glamorous, it is NOT a bad thing to like expensive things sometimes. Get over your jealousy people.

So much jealousy and hatred in these comments. Everyone spends their money differently and everyone thinks the other person is wasteful because they aren't spending it on what they would spend it on. Lol, this is why companies get away with ripping people off because they know a lot of the time, you'll turn on each other instead.

Quality aside, I'm surprised that all the fragrance in there seems to be Chanel No. 5. I know that's their iconic fragrance, but why give someone a full bottle and then minis of the same scent when they make quite a few other fragrances? You would think they'd put in minis of the others because that might actually translate into more sales. As for the price, I'm not terribly surprised. $850 doesn't buy you a whole lot of Chanel. 27 items makes the average around $30 which is less than they charge for the lipstick or the bottle of nail polish and a fraction of a full bottle of their perfume.

I think if your idiotic enough to waste $825.00 on an advent calender(credit or parents money especially) then you deserve to get ripped off. Your paying for the logo. Oh..there is Logo's all right! Free advertising for them. Next time buy a good chocolate Advent calender and donate the rest by feeding starving/homless people...or just put the money on your credit card. Think it needs a payment if buying frivolous things like this. 😕

$825?!?!?? And I'm sitting here agonizing if I should drop $800 to join a private medical clinic 'cos I have no doctor and no chance of one for the next five to seven years according to news reports and so private is the only way to have ongoing health issues monitored (and I'm incredibly lucky to have the option, but my god, I pay my taxes, too, ya know). None of it is worth anything. What frustrates me the most about this stuff is, it cost next to nothing for these companies to create or make these products. Then they sell them for hundreds, thousands and millions of dollars. Stuff literally only has value because we say it does. It's just crazy how people are getting robbed with almost everything we buy. Yet people don't seem to see how wrong it all is.

've been watching Alexandria Ryan open various "beauty" advent calendar boxes , and they are mostly a huge disappointment. A lot of samples, cheap items, etc... Long term, I'd think this is a poor business move. If I was to blindly trust a company that left me feeling burned, not only am I not going to buy from them in the future, I will be the word of mouth (like this lady) to let others know about the experience.

Looks a bit tacky to me. Perhaps it has to do with how influencers and their ilk want things like this precisely for the the logo, the packaging and to see themselves as a person who buys Chanel, rather than buying a scent that suits their personality or a beautifully made bag that you keep for life.

Positive personal experience here and a company I was turned onto from a YouTube programmer: Spotlight Oral Care! If you're looking for a great gift for yourself, or for someone who is asking (because oral care/teeth whitening can be a sensitive subject), I purchased their gift kit last holiday season (for myself) and LOVED it! So much so, that I went back and bought two more, wanting to keep the oral products (such a great value!), but gave away the cute additional items that came with it... I didn't need three Jade Rollers, et.al! I have continued to use their products and have been VERY happy!!!

Like most products, it's sad to say, you pay more for a name than quantity/quality.

I can't feel even slightly sorry for someone who had money to blow (or blows money they don't have) on an $825 advent calendar.

I know people are like "Why would you spend that kind of money?", but I saw this in a lot of those articles about the best advent calendars pushing about how luxurious it was and the things that could be inside. No one ever said stickers or a flip book that says 2021.

Sympathy = zero.

Everyone is criticizing her choice even though they came here to read it.. yeah it was a dumb decision to get the thing, but dang those are the cheapest looking items I could have imagined. That bracelet looks gross and fake. And those stickers? What???

If you're dumb enough to pay so much for branded c**p, you deserve it. No, even stupid nail polish and hand cream aren't worth as much as they're asking for them. Only a spoiled idiot would pay so much.

I know I shouldn't laugh because after all, she was genuinely ripped off. But to spend that kind of money on things you can't even be sure of- nvm what the "things" were supposed to be- after all, her money her (dumb ass) choice - But yeah- I cannot help but laugh.

I guess I should say people see it's wrong. No one seems to want to do anything to change how wrong it is.

The content of the advent calendar has alway been in the product description on Chanel website, she should learn how to read maybe ;)

I like the scent, but even if I was rich, this would be a "NO" for me.

chanel was a nazi sympathizer so i stay away from that brand, plus chanel 5 is the most disgusting perfume on the planet.

What's really the purpose of an advent calendar? And does it have to be big? Coz the items are just small, they occupy a lot of space. Minimalism in me was triggered upon watching the unboxing.

Why do you have to use the term retarded? It's very offensive to those with disabilities and parents with disabled children? It's so disrespectful!

If you have to complain about the $825 then you can’t afford it.
