Someone Just Noticed That Chameleons Will Hold Onto Anything You Give Them, And It’s Hilarious
As it turns out, chameleons can entertain the crowd even when they’re not changing colors. Michigan-based artist Emma Ward has shared pictures of her pet reptile Olive grabbing tiny weapon props and the internet just couldn’t handle it.
Emma’s tweet has been liked almost 400,000 times and retweeted nearly 170,000 times, making Olive one of the most popular chameleons on the web. It even got a photo-response from a flying squirrel owner whose pets share the same hobby!
“Knowing she likes to grasp anything that goes in her hands, I thought Lego swords and Evangelion weapons would be an interesting idea,” Ward told Chron.com. She got the nearly 2-year-old Olive in April 2016 from a reptile exhibition in Detroit, and they have been best friends ever since.

Not flying squirrels... they are sugar gliders. You'd think the owner would know the difference.
Definitely. If she doesn't even know what they are, how the hell is she giving them the right food and care?
Exactly.. sugar glider need special care, compex staple diets.. if he/she didn't know what difference between flying squierrel and sugar flider how can the owner treat 'em right?
I may be wrong, but the first one even looks obese.
Maybe whoever sold it to her told her how to feed and care for it.
Agree, but perhaps... her first language isn't English and she didn't know the word; she didn't want people to google on what they are
yeah if you check his twitter he's japanese :)
I was just thinking that
up vote for your keen eye,but some people call something according to what they thought they were for the longest time, even when they realise,or are corrected...and go on calling it the same thing. not really a big deal considering the real problems in the world we have to deal with. 😀
Maybe you should fly there and tell the owner.
If the internet couldn't handle it, then why are people on the internet liking the photos and retweeting them?
I am really fed up of phrases like 'the internet couldn't handle it' - clearly 'the internet' can.
like that story of the boy crying wolf, one day there's gonna be a story that'll break the internet and we'll all be wondering, offline, how
agreed, the phrases "the internet couldn't handle it" and "broke the internet/ break the internet" need to die in a fire of rotting trash.
It's just an expression, not meant to be taken literally. That said, it's grossly overused.
i can't handle it, my phones too big.
It's ok Daniel, everything is ok.
Totally agree
MORE! MORE I SAY! Where can I find more?!?!
The army that you didn't expect!!! The republic of Chameleons and Sugar Gliders!!
I really like the one holding a bazooka!
Give them real gun and a picture of Donald Trump, you never know what can happen!
That last pic of the tiny chameleon! Why so cute!!!
Cute and adorable.
So cute!
I had a chameleon growing up. TC was an education in itself. I was saddened when our pet scooted away & we didn't find him until after he died. TC had a shoebox funeral with a headstone marker.
I used to have a chameleon who could do these types of things. RIP Einstein
Those chameleons look ready to head north of the wall. Tormund Grasshoppersbane!
Some Disney Pixar artist is furiously sketching right now.
this post made my day! the chameleons alone but the added in sugar gliders...Epic!
Yes... sure... give them weapons... BECAUSE PLANET OF APES DID NOT WARN US ENOUGH!!! :-D
I love it!
LOL this is hilarious!!!
It's all fun and games, until someone gives their chameleon something like a lit match or cigarette to hold.
Don't give anyone such stupid ideas; there's always one in the crowd who will try that!
That's probably how we got Twitter. And BoredPanda. And who knows what else. If you really think about it "let's start a site where everyone can only post really short sentences" is a pretty stupid idea :) or "let's start a site where people can only post pictures and comments but can't ever edit anything afterwards" :)
The topic is a little blown up but the concept is cute lol
I can't wait to have my chameleon

Please don't be so selfish. They are not pets. They deserve to live in their normal habitat.
This is quite a normal habitat for healthy, domesticated chameleons. That being said, I don't think you can own or master (most) animals and I refer to myself as a caregiver, rather than owner, of my pets.
I really don't like to see wild animals being used as toys and in hostage just for fun. So many reptiles and wild mammals dies just for "fun".
Awesome. :) Can't wait to try it out with our sugar gliders. xD Regards, admin @ Oodles of Noodles Like: https://www.facebook.com/ooNoodles/ Or message me @ http://bit.ly/ooNoodles-message
those are sugar gliders
liked the flying squirrel holding the Lance of Longinus from Neon Genesis Evangelion and various Zeon Zaku weapons from Mobile Suit Gundam.
They all belong in their natural habitat. I grieve for these tortured critters..
Chameleons are the best
This made me so happy
Arms, guns, flags and weapons... a big lack of imagination (or education), I presume.
Too bad all but one of the pictures show the little creatures holding a weapon...
The internet can handle everything, just post some useless shit and people will go crazy about. I just realized how much spare time does automation provide for people to do such things and how people who couldn't do anything with their lives will go crazy about it. That's science.
These animals should be free in the wild, not captured, holding bullshit! The fact that they hold anything you give them is because in the nature helps them climb on trees and plants.

Dogs aren't pets either. Or cats. Or anything for that matter. It's weird for someone to chain or otherwise restrict the freedom of another living creature for their entertainment and amusement.
It's weird, sure... but dogs and cats are domesticated animals that in this day and age need humans to function naturally. Symbiosis never naturally occurred between humans and other species, so we culturally created a way of symbiotic learning.
