Parents Break The Law To Treat Kids With Cannabis

Cerebral palsy remains an incurable disorder, and the symptoms range from mild spastic movements to severe seizures and the inability to control limbs. While there’s no cure, scientists focus on treating the symptoms. Research on links of medical marijuana and cerebral palsy is still limited, but findings suggest that it offers a host of benefits (including pain control, reduction of spastic movements and seizures, and more). However, medical marijuana is legal in only 29 U.S. states (and DC), so its use and further research are restricted by government regulations. One of the places where it’s still illegal is Texas. The Texas Compassionate Use Act was signed into law on June 1, 2015, by Governor Greg Abbott but it appears the state might not implement the medical marijuana program it passed. A major obstacle to establishing the program in Texas is that the state law requires doctors to write a prescription for the medical marijuana. Since marijuana is still federally illegal and a controlled substance, doctors can’t legally write a prescription for it. This video by Kara Zartler was released to advocate for medical cannabis in Texas, and we can clearly see why.

Who wouldn't break the law to stop their child from injuring themselves. You did a good thing.
Hans, I think the downvote is, why shouldn't parents be free to try it and see if it helps their child, without having to break the law? Yes, research, but also it's time to recognize our attitudes towards drugs are very conflicted.
Load More Replies...I'm an RN who has never tried pot, but, these are responsible parents . Pot helps C.P. most seizure disorders , M.S. , & other afflictions & should be prescribed by physicians for them. My internist is a strong believer in Pot for chronic pain , too
I knew someone who used for chronic pain. It helped. But I live in Texas and obey the law, damn me...

He also has extremely sensitive hearing(a common effect of autism) which saved his life one time when he was jumping on his trampoline and then suddenly got off. A few moments later, a huge branch crushed the trampoline. We think he heard the crack of the branch, which many people wouldn't have noticed, and knew what he should do. Of course you should do whatever you can(law or no law) to help these innocent people.
I think parents have broke bigger laws for lesser reasons. I think you are in the right, but posting videos of breaking the law might not be the best move.
Yeah, I understand they are trying to show that it is an effective medical treatment that should be legalized at least on a medical level. They want to send that message. But any time you film yourself committing a crime you are asking for trouble. And it seems like these people have enough problems on their plate trying to help their child. Hope it doesn't backfire!

Are you saying that parents know better than doctors, psychologists and paediatricians???!!!!

Ironically, Colorado, the first state to legalize it, and the state that houses tons of veterans, refuses to give people with PTSD a red card, because it's been deemed a condition that doesn't need it. 10mg of thc gets me through almost an entire day without a panic attack. But I'm only 20. Pot has a LOT of uses. Schools have gotten so much funding on pot tax. Just fully legalize the damn thing already.
You think that persons cerebral palsy is funny?? What is wrong with you.
You REALLY need to do some research before spouting your opinion. Pot has been proven MANY times by scientists and other medical professionals that it has great medicinal properties. It helps people with chronic seizures, anxiety, and physical pain. And there has been no negative causes found. Pot is a life saving drug and it should be legalized throughout the whole country.
