15 Celebrities Who Donated Generously To Help Australian Fire Services
182Kviews
Australia is currently being ravaged by bushfires that spread across the country as the regular bushfire season took an unexpected and severe turn. Unfortunately, so far an estimated 8.4 million hectares (21 million acres; 84,000 square kilometres; 32,000 square miles) were lost to flames, alongside 2,500 buildings (including over 1,900 houses). The fires took lives of 25 people (as of 5 January 2020) and there are more gruesome losses of life as it is feared that an estimated billion animals were killed or will die due to starvation and loss of habitat caused by the flames.
Many people responded to Australia's dire situation, offering everything from thoughts and prayers to support and donations. Amongst millions of others, celebrities also chimed in and encouraged others to help and donate. While celebs like Kim Kardashian and Paris Hilton urged their millions of followers to donate, others decided to lead by example as they put out real numbers and how they donated to encourage others to follow their suit. If you spotted a favorite celebrity making a donation as well, comment and let us know about their good deeds!
You can donate to help the relief efforts by clicking on the links of individual funds pages: Red Cross Disaster, NSW Rural Fire Service, Queensland Fire Service.

Comedian Celeste Barber Raised $31,705,797 In Donations (As Of January 8)
FOR THOSE WHO WANT TO DONATE TO HER FUNDRAISING: https://www.facebook.com/donate/1010958179269977/10157671223743418
Load More Replies...Celeste is a hilarious Aussie woman, brave and bold. I wouldn't doubt that she gave all the profit from her recent world tour towards her homeland.
For those crapping on her, FIREFIGHTERS ARE NOT GETTING PAID BY THEIR OWN GOVERNMENT. *SHE IS PAYING THEM.*
exactly!!!!!!! The MAJORITY of the firefighters, especially in rural / small town areas, are VOLUNTEERS, who take unpaid time off of work, in order to save the homes / farms of *other* people (often, while they themselves are losing their own homes to fire). Seriously, people need to stop crapping on those who are *doing* something to help, because it doesn't fulfil their idea of what 'help' should be. She has raised almost $50,000,000, and people are bitching about it? FFS.
Load More Replies...I'd never heard of her - but she is amazing to have raised so much for so many
HOW YOU CAN DONATE VIA HER: https://www.facebook.com/donate/1010958179269977/10157671223743418
She is working directly with Rural Fire Services, to ensure the money is shared amongst the multiple states of Australia that are fighting fires, and to other supporting charities like the Red Cross, who offer support that the RFS don't / can't do (eg clothing and shelter for those who lost homes etc).
Load More Replies...THE WORLD IS ON FIRE.I'm so SICK of celebrities donating a pittance compared to their Salary and "starting up" a funding page. Donate MORE you fucking cunts. Some billionaire donates a Million Dollars starts up a funding page, then take the glory for the "average wage" people donating their last penny to that page, and then they take the glory. Your donation is FUCK ALL in comparison to what "NORMAL" folk are donating. If all the Millionaires / billionaires banded together, this would be sorted by now. Arrogant wankers, throwing peanuts at the peasants, and expecting us to be grateful. THIS WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY BOOKS. And that's the best you can do, with you billions of pounds. FUCK YOU ALL!
Who cares? She has raised $40mil how much have you raised asshole? We need help, she helped.

Billionaire Justin Hemmes Donated $500,000 To The RFS
Kylie Jenner Reportedly Donated $1,000,000
The word reportedly is not a good thing here. I'd like to believe she did this.
Donate 5c and you've already done more than the government here. I am very grateful to all the people donating, particularly directly to the firefighters, but it bothers me so much that all our support comes from celebrities and good samaritans instead of the leaders we pay billions to for exactly this purpose.
hey @littlesaresare do you have some names of organizations that are trustful so that we can donate to them? I am trying to inform myself on where I can donate money but too many sources and not sure which are reliable, I hope that since you're living there maybe you know more about those that are the real deal!
https://www.rfs.nsw.gov.au/volunteer/support-your-local-brigade Samel Mel, this is the link to the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (RFS). While they are "organised" by the government, they rely heavily on volunteers. These volunteers, take time off of work, without pay, to save their own small towns etc, that aren't always covered by formalised government fire departments. These men and women, are literally saving towns, with little to no support, while losing their own homes in the fires. They are TRULY heroes, in they eyes of all Aussies. (NSW is the state that's in the news a lot at the moment. Sydney, is it's capital, for the non-Aussies wanting some context). I'll look for some more sources for donations, and will post them. :)
@Samel Mel a place to donate to is the Australian Red Cross
No! The Red Cross has a poor history with getting donations to where it actually needs.
Thank you all!
You can donate directly to a specific fire chief, so they can use it for what they need, or to one of the wildlife organisations taking in burned animals. WIRES and Wildlife Victoria are the big ones. I'm not entirely sure how to reliably donate to the disaster relief efforts for victims.

Why is the media ignoring the fact that over 180 people have been arrested for arson? This is Terrorism.
Why is the media ignoring this? Because it’s not true. It was made up to distract from the effects of climate change.
Every case isn't arson, some were accidentally started by negligence. Still bad, but not as malicious as arson.
It is maybe a biggest crime against humanity and all livings on Earth and it should be punished accordingly. I hope they will not get away with this.
I wanted to make a cynical comment about publicity stunts but then I thought who cares why, at least they're trying to help. Good on them.
I hope more of the Australian millionaires and billionaires step forward. I have family over there and the stories are just horrific. The loss of wildlife and plant life is overwhelming.
bear in mind a lot of people who give generously do it confidentially, not for praise or attention. they may be giving millions and it just hasn't been made public
a mining billionaire has just donated $70,000,000. <3 Bloody brilliant, in my eyes.
I just hope they don't give a cent to the Red Cross. Only a small % will end up actually in aid, the rest will go towards the CEOs exorbitant salary, staff wages, marketing campaigns and general admin costs. They were heavily criticised after the Box Day Tsunami (Dec 2004) that so little of the Australian donations made it to the people on the ground in Indonesia. Sad but true, just Google it along with the 'worst charities'.
Sadly all the money in the world isn't going to bring back the billions of animals and landscapes lost
But it will help the people who fought the fires, the people who worked to rescue those in trouble (everyone's in trouble, though), supplying people with food, water and hygene, and, when hopefully it's over, it may help people to rebuild and recover.
Yes I understand that- but im still sad for when has been lost
Like Celeste Barber recently said on twitter where the hell is Gina Rinehart, richest women in Australia though mining!!! It is amazing every little community is doing SOMETHING, bake sales, donating time and money, our community that was burnt last week is now out feeding wildlife. It all helps!
Id like to see some of our own millionaires help out somewhat. Reinhardt, The Packers just to name a few. The little aussie battlers seem to be more willing to do their bit, with not much in their purse to begin with, but still want to help. Meanwhile, I wonder how many hands will be in the donation coffers, before funds raised gets on the ground?!
They are, which is bloody brilliant. $70 million donated by mining magnate, Andrew Forrest. <3 https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-01-09/andrew-forrest-pledges-$70m-donation-to-bushfire-relief/11854654
i give a fu** if they are billionaires and "only" donated 500k.. they DID donate, and that's all that matters!
I'm glad they donated!
So grateful to you all for giving your time and money to help our people and animals.
WHERE / HOW TO DONATE (multiple links to follow, below). These are all formal, confirmed charities / fundraisers within Australia. Us Aussies, are beyond grateful to everyone, for everything they're doing for us, and with us. I love you. Have started sharing your Koala and RFS links with everyone. It's all I can do as an in debt American. Can I send toiletries? Care packages? Those things I can do for only the cost of postage. I can "fundraise" the rest. P.S. I do not have Facebook. Just Instagram.

Myxomatosis, yes, you can. Bondi Beach Surf Club, has started collecting care packages etc, and are working with all other local Surf Clubs up and down the coast, is small rural areas, to get essentials to those in immediate need. This has been organised by volunteers, and locals, with truck loads of stuff getting to those in need, within hours / days - way faster than formalised 'charity' or 'government' groups. These guys are the real deal. Everything is going to those in need. I'll post more info below.

Leonardo DiCaprio donated $15.6 million. Why isn't he on here?
Don’t judge, this is an opinion. I see two things here, both have been agreed and disagreed on. - Celeste raised 31+ million dollars, most likely donating also herself. -This isn’t a bad thing, understand that, but she raised the money, raised money, not necessarily donated all of it. Don’t take this wrong, but unless she donated more than 1 million dollars herself then she shouldn’t be at the top of the list of celebrities who donated to Australian Fire Services. She definitely raised a crap ton of money, but didn’t donate all of it. This would go to anyone else who raised money. This is an opinion please don’t take it too seriously.
Is the girl who sent nudes to all those who donated considered a celebrity yet? She raised over a million US dollars, I heard. She raised one million dollars more than most people reading my comment.
I know people who donate who are very specific about remaining anonymous. They think the publicity detracts and distracts from the intention, which is simply to help and be generous. They don't want recognition. They don't want their name in the paper. It's even likely some people gave small public donations, but larger donations under other names or through other sources in order to remain anonymous.
If there is a way to get to Australia (as it's too expensive for most of us) it would be great if people could all help in replanting vegetation and saving more animals. Problem is, most of us can't afford it. But if there was a way, I am sure many people would be happy to help in any way possible. This is our planet, and our animals and our nature. Also, and you can delete this if I am too far, but I expect persons responsible for this tragedy to be brought to justice and punished for severe crime against nature and all of us. So that this never happens again. There should be a really scary punishments for this. Some people get away with this and that should never happen.
"Australia fires: Celeste Barber fundraiser tops $20m as celebrities Pink, Nicole Kidman make huge donations" https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2020/jan/05/australia-fires-celeste-barber-fundraiser-reaches-20m-as-pink-nicole-kidman-make-huge-donations. Keep giving, folks! And keep the pressure up to get the climate crisis under control.
But now we're seeing how very quickly it's all growing back.
I'm proud that they donated, no matter whom donated more, they should be pleased and happy to get the money. Now everyone needs to work on Pureto Rico who has been crying out for our help for several years now. They are after all part of the United States. These poor people are in a really bad way.
That's awesome, Australia needs all the help they can get for the people, animals, and plants.
Hughesy , so many breaks on TV. But no contributions to the bush firres
Why do we need to know this? Some people sent $25 because it was what they had.
Nick Cave gave 500k.

Why is it that celebrities manage to raise much funds for worthy causes ?
For all the reasons that a certain segment of the American population hates them: they have money, free time, followers who want to emulate them, and a pubic forum to speak from. I could tweet, Instagram, and Facebook my charities all day long but only a small handful of people would see them as I don't have the huge following celebrities have. Many celebrities give a voice to all the "regular" people's problems that otherwise would go unheard. When certain segments of the American population yell at celebrities that they should just entertain us without speaking about anything serious, it takes away millions of dollars from organizations that benefit from the celebrity spotlight.
Please donate to the RFS. Rural Fire Service. They are not getting paid by their own government or being denied. **THEY DESERVE TO BE PAID!! THIS IS DANGEROUS WORK** They will have forever lung issues and PTSD. Please help. Psuedo Puppy has the links.
I would like to see the donations be at least 10% of what they make in a year
Denice Smith +
I'm just glad to see people use their power and influence to support others
WA mining billionaire Andrew "Twiggy" Forrest has announced he will spend $70 million on a bushfire recovery package for fire-affected communities. ... A further $50 million will be spent on a "national blueprint" for fire and disaster resilience to develop new approaches to mitigate the threat of bushfires.
Hollywood actors and actresses ran to social media to raise awareness and blame America for all of it. Afterward they were satisfied that their awareness campaign had been so affective at doing something.
And sent money. Don't forget that part. They didn't bitterly complain and do nothing. They bitterly complained, asked what they could do to help, and organized aid efforts. All while entertaining your whiny ass.
This is amazing!!! I just hope it goes to the right people and not greedy administrators that do not use the money as intended.
i just Don't understand here… i think what australian needs now it's people to help fighting on the ground the fire. how the money could help NOW. after that for rebuild ok i get it… but now? they need people, not money.
The majority of firefighters are volunteers and the government has refused requests for unemployment benefits while they fight the fires. There bills won't stop, there mortgages need to be paid, their families need to eat, and firefighting equipment isn't free. There is also an immediate need for veterinary supplies, etc....
Most of the firefighters do it voluntarily and stopped working to fight the fires, but they still get bills and need to eat so I think they depend on donations as government isnt giving them anything..
While it is super amazing that celebrities are donating, I applaud more for those who aren’t donating as a publicity stunt. Why do we need to know exactly who donated what?
Dystopian truth: celebrities are looked to as heroes and influencers and, monkey see monkey do, their followers may also feel encouraged to donate.
Since we're here... https://lnk.bio/fightthebushfires If you are feeling donate-y
Because when Sally sees Leonardo DiCaprio donate, she does too. Now there's more money for the charity. People donate to St Jude because a beautiful and popular actress told them to. You think the kids dying from cancer, now being treated at St Jude gives a fuck that the actress was doing it for a publicity stunt?
Most of these celebs haven't donated generously at all, just at a magnitude that normal people have donated. We need to realise that incredibly rich celebs need to contribute more of their wealth, which has no impact on them at all, to make a difference. Stop making the general populous feel guilty and donate bigger amounts that you know you can afford and makes no difference to your life you f##king hypocrites.
I'm glad they donated but some of numbers look very cheap! (please don't get me wrong, I'm grateful for every single penny but I know people who gave up half their salaries to help animals in this shocking event. In this list we have people who get Millions of dollars for movies)
You know people who donated half their salaries to help... If you are so much into who gives how much, it seems a little shallow that you just know some people. Had you written : I gave up half my sallery... Now that would be something ;)
I live in Iran and I run a Dog & Cat Shelter. My earning is 3 Million Tomans (Roughly 230 dollars monthly). I'm not that kind of person to donate and take pictures but believe me even in our economical situation I tried to help. Is it too much to ask from an artist, a millioner, to give 10 percent of their monthly or yearly earning to a cause that they pretend to care? all instagram famous users (who posted about this) can solve the money problems in Australia in one hour. Bill gates can easily feed the whole africa (poor nations I mean). BUT OK I GUESS I"M THE BAD GUY HERE
As an Aussie I am glad for anything given, but please remember this issue is notbthe only issue in the world, and no one has any clue how much people give to other things on top. Just because someone makes more does not automatically mean they have more to give, many calebrities are paying for many staff, providing for family, possibly extended families too, it costs more to be wealthy and a lot of wealth is tied up, not always possible to just drop a million on something, also not their responsibility.
actually it is their responsibility. the world should be devided equally between all the livings. so if they have more, they should give more. if they don't so at least they should stop pretending to care.

Why do rich people OWE anyone anything? They made the money, it's theirs, yet they are willing to donate some if it to a good cause. That's good enough for me, as it should be to anyone else.
because the whole concept of having more money is stupid. why? did they tried more? no. did they have more talent? maybe. but will you give a dumb dog less food just because it's dumb? You simply unable to think out of the box.

Leo DiCaprio donated $15.6 million. Why isn't he on here?
