An extraordinary dog rescue campaign called Operation Cavalier Rescue in the U.S. has led to the rescue of 108 abandoned animals (most of them Cavalier King Charles Spaniels) from a puppy mill auction in Missouri.
The little puppies, many of which needed medical attention, will be distributed to foster homes and animal shelters, where they will receive the medical and psychological evaluations the adorable dogs need before being distributed to forever homes.
Read on for more information about this gripping story of putting animal abuse to an end.

A heartless breeder was attempting to sell all these poor dogs to puppy millers
Many were blind or deaf from infections and covered in fleas and their own waste
Operation Cavalier Rescue started raising money to buy them out from a breeders’ auction held on Nov. 22
The campaign raised hundreds of thousands of dollars from contributors all over the world
“Auctions are not a place for people who see dogs as pets,” according to the campaign’s organizers.
“Auctioneers rattle off a dog’s qualities to attract bidders, shouting things like ‘she’s pregnant, that’s money in the bank.'”
The volunteers’ goal was to leave no Cavalier behind, and they succeeded – all of the dogs were bought out
A couple of dogs were bought at the last moment, after already being loaded into a breeder’s truck
96 Cavaliers, 7 Shiba Inu, 2 Cocker Spaniels, 1 Shih Tzu, 1 French Bulldog and 1 Yorkshire Terrier were rescued for a total of 108 dogs
After medical and psychological evaluations, they will be distributed to animal shelters and rescues across the nation
Hopefully, they will all wind up in forever homes!
I am so happy the puppies will have a better life! But they actually had to pay to get the dogs? That's not rescue, it's keeping the system.
All I can say is it mattered to the dogs that were saved AND it has started a dialogue across the nation about the HORRORS of puppy mills.
Load More Replies...?! So the protestors actually contributed to this, by financing the puppy farm?
GOD, MY THOUGHT, TOO??? I don't understand. Won't that PROMOTE This happening over and over again??? Puppy Farms make money no matter what?!
Load More Replies...uhm.... 'bought out'? Not confiscated by the ASPCA then? So.... The sick b*stards who did this to them, they got their pay day still then?
What makes you think the ASPCA do not profit from these situations? They just call it "donations" instead of profit.
Load More Replies...So sad to see good intentions turn against itself.. Now they have money to ruin lives of many more dogs. And the problem stays.
Then please help change the laws; we need all the help we can get!
Load More Replies...Puppy mills are not illegal, neither are the auctions. We are doing all we can to stop them and spare the horror for the dogs.
If they r not legal...what was the problem?!
Load More Replies...If you go to the website of the auction, they are bragging about how much money they make selling dogs. Heartless. No Shame!
Highest respect to the work of these people. Thanks in the name of the dogs !
This is just so awesome! Well Done to these people!!! It's amazing for these poor dogs!
When will this disgusting business be outlawed once and for all? Does the government even care?
Very good question...write your state legislators and tell them you want the laws changed.

This group is for all breeds and all dog lovers, that auction was the last straw and now we are working to fix the problem at the root.
Load More Replies...For the record, it is often very time consuming and difficult to prosecute this abuse. Better to get the dogs OUT asap and save them!
Well done so pleased they been rescued. Some people are so cruel.I have two Cavalier King Charles spaniels and they are just great x
If I could, I'd take nine. The protesters took the only road they could, most likely, if the state doesn't have puppy farming made illegal
Please know a dedicated group has put their money where their mouth is and is now moving forward in calm, with focus, to BLAST these mills.
If more people would fight to shut the Puppy Mills down the dogs would not have to be bought.
The sad truth is that the ASPCA won't do anything because technically things have to be a lot worse than that to be illegal. And even then...
Simply speechless! Thank you to everyone who donated, and volunteered to this cause!
I am a dog lover I am very upset with people who abuse dogs and cats they deserve to be treated like that
Bravo to the rescuers and those to donated money to rescue these precious babies
Oh GOD this makes me so sad - thank you operation cavalier king charles - hopefully they will find wonderful forever homes
Wonderful that they got them all out but the law definitely needs to be changed! Maybe the publicity will help to do that?
Should've been put in the article: "measures are being taken to change things for good with this breeder." Source: From their website
This is way go0d.. i hope those little angels finds a family who will treat them as their own n0t just an decorati0ns to add 0n..
If you know about any puppy mills...report them!! These poor dogs got a happy life thank God. I had a Cav for a decade. Sweetest most well mannered loving dog. Seeing these dogs abused makes me sick.
Hope the cops caught the monsters at the auction later on. God bless the people who participated in the rescue

I dont understand why the dogs were not confiscated instead of bought?! Just supporting those puppy mills to breed a whole lot more!
Make sure you see them way before session meets. It takes research, time & a caring legislator to put a Bill up that will be voted in.
Bring pics, proof of the problem and if he/she is a dog lover, they just may listen and creat a Bill to be taken up at a legislative meeting
It's not that difficult if enough of the group gets together and does this. Make an appt. to meet with your Senator/House of Representative.
1st step: To become a law you must contact your STATE Legislators and ask them to draft a Bill to take up for a vote for it to become a law.
i think I would like to possible adopt the frenchy. I would like to help with others . Sue abshier
We salute rescue efforts! Now help establish reforms. http://reformcaninebreedersandauctions.com/
How can I adopt one of the spaniels? Please send me a message on face. Cole TheBubbles
They tried for months and many avenues to save the dogs before they went to be auctioned off to more puppy mills. Many run by the Amish.
Load More Replies...So instead of a hefty fine the pricks got a few thousands reward? Great effort.
They come away with valuable data (dog condition, etc) that can lead to taking the industry apart in court.
I love animals, and being a dog owner it just break my heart to read the article, how we human beings could be so heartless.
No matter how they got them, they saved them. I have a tri color & they are the sweetest companions! I wish I could take them all!
Many thanks to those people who find out about these awful puppy mills and horrendous conditions. Beware..local mills exist!
Wait a darned minute! Those dogs would have gone to a different puppy mill if not bought out by the rescue. Trying to stop the mills!
They should be allowed to just take them. Surely it should be illegal?
l’horreur heureusement qu'ils ont été sauvé , j'en ai vu un qui ressemblait à mon Dustyn , trop triste de voir ça
Will there be a listing of the various shelters the dogs are placed should someone be interested in adopting?
Please complete this reporting by telling us if the mill owners are continuing on or have been shut down.
Agreed, happy that this time the situation has been, or is now in the process of being "resolved", it mustn't be allowed to happen again.
Load More Replies...what happened to the breeders? Shouldn't they have been prosecuted for this? I'm glad that the puppies are okay, but what about their mother
Many of these dogs were mothers. They were being sold from one puppy mill owner to other puppy mill owners, many of them Amish.
Load More Replies...Amazing work! They are so cute how could they do this to them?! Wish I could adopt all
Well done to the rescuers. I hope the puppy farm doesn't use the money they made from this auction to buy more dogs to abuse!
