Domestic cats love to play, this applies particularly to kittens who enjoy chasing toys and play fighting. Play fighting between kittens is more than just entertainment and can be a way for them to practice and learn skills for hunting and fighting.

You might not think of your silly cat as a vicious predator but felines are natural hunters. When they walk, their back paws step in almost exactly the same place as the front paws do in order to minimize noise and limit visible tracks. Cats have powerful night vision, excellent hearing and a powerful sense of smell.
We have come to associate purring with contentment when it comes to cats, but turns out just because a cat is purring doesn’t mean the cat is happy. Cats usually make this sound when they’re content, but they also purr when they’re sick, stressed, hurt, or giving birth. So the next time your funny cat purrs they may be trying to tell you something.
If you let your cat walk freely outside - put a collar on it. If it has eating problems put that info on the collar. I have a friend whose cat can't stop eating - it'll eat anything and everything it could get. Once he wandered into one the apartment of a little old lady who fed the "starving" cat three cans of tuna. A nightmarish 12 hours followed for both cat and owner.
Collars are dangerous for outdoor cats because they can get caught on things like tree branches and strangle/trap them. They do make breakaway collars but every cat I've had could get rid of that one within the first day out

For those YELLING about keeping cats indoors? Some cats will literally harm themselves if keptindoors. I do TNR, feral care, rescue, and some are *not* adapting to indoor-only life. So please consider that one situation does not fit all for cats any more than for other animals. And some cats, if stray or feral, will *never* be okay about food any mroe than people who've starved would be. What's ideal isn't always what's *possible*.

I read a lot of comments about bird population decreasing. I live in Uruguay. Here we have a huge deal with dogs. Even then years ago, when I had three dogs, I was a crazy chick. Nowadays I have two and EVERONE I know has at least one, but most people have three or four dogs. Same thing happens (but in a small amount) with cats. I assure you, there are too many cats in my block, around 40 just in my block, but we have tons of birds anyway. I believe the problem, if birds are disappearing, May not be the cost population

I love how they ask others to stop feeding their cat because he's getting fat, but the next paragraph the owner admits to feeding them three times a day and more treats than should be allowed. Yes, your neighbours are making your cat fat.
I lived in a senior home, we had a community cat, he lived out in the courtyard in the summer, in winter had his own apartment. I guess people forgot about him in winter, because he would get really fat in summer, slim down in winter, repeat.
