Cat Says “Well, Hi” In A Southern Accent And People Keep Watching It Over And Over Again

Life with cats is full of surprises. One moment they’re making you their slave, the next they’re bathing you in purrs and affection. However, an 8-year-old tabby called Gambino Bambino has just found a new way to amaze its owner.

When they were taking what seemed to be just another video of the feline, Gambino ran across the room, hiding in a corner. Not to be outdone, its human went after it. A few seconds later, they caught up to the little critter. It raised its head and somehow meowed a “Well, Hi!” in a Southern accent. And proceeded to nonchalantly groom itself.

More info: Instagram | TikTok

Listen to Gambino speak in the video below

The clip was uploaded to TikTok where it already has over 1.4 million likes and 10.4K comments, with people trying to figure out what the kitty is going to say next. “How you doin’?”

What a polite, well-mannered cat. My cat would probably say something that would sound along the lines of “feed me slave.”

Adorable cat. But... I didn't hear what people are telling me I heard. I still want to scratch her behind the ears though.

Cats tend to repeat sounds and perfectly getting the sense. Everyone having cats for years can confirm.

True. My cat often heard my family saying where's mom in French (maman est ou) when they where in the basement. After a while, he would run downstairs and start yelling maman ouuuu. I'd respond to him where I was (just like my family) and he'd run to me (like my family) LOL

That was pretty adorable actually! My favorite video of a cat talking though will always be the one where the cat is being given a bath and is screaming "NO!" the entire time.

I had a tiny black and white tuxedo cat named Lucy who would vocalize a kind of double meow when walking toward me and looking straight at me that sometimes sounded like “mama”. You know how animals pick “their person” out of everyone in the family? Lucy picked me over my husband (don’t worry, the dog picked him), and would always favor me to him—though she’d still periodically cuddle with him when I wasn’t home. She had huge green eyes, a sweet personality, purred a lot, and would regularly sleep next to my left shoulder (it was HER spot), cuddling all night. Lucy died years ago. Broke my heart. I still think about her and miss her. But it’s a part of life, and doesn’t keep me from adopting other stray animals (we live on a dead end street, and a favorite of people dumping pets). Right now I have another cat like Lucy named Jack. He’s like her reincarnation, I swear. I know I’ll miss him when he goes too. And the cycle will continue.

I feel you. A BF gave me a Turkish Van and that cat followed me everywhere, travelled wrapped around my neck like a stole, had the loudest purr. I still really miss him and wish we had had more time together (he got lung cancer at 9). Then I adopted two boys from a feral litter - the runt was my choice and my ex picked the black cat (Bert & Ernie). I got both the kids when we split and then when I got married the runt (who had become a butterball) decide he liked my husband better than me so they became fast friends. The black cat then decided I was his and was constantly curled up on top of me. At 18 he got stomach cancer and his brother passed 3 months later, I think of heartbreak. Two years ago we rescued a mom and her litter from an abusive neighbor. She kept coming to our back door and crying, and when I started feeding her she brought her kittens. We kept the mom (part Siamese) and one boy. Both napping with me right now. All five "kids" have been talkers.

Cats are crazy good mimics. My friends would comment that my cat had the weirdest diphthong in his "Pay attention to me" yowl, then I had a mini meltdown one day after everything went wrong and the cat synced in PERFECTLY pitch-wise. They understood where it came from after that.

Ok, cats are cool and they do communicate with humans in a special way, but they don't use words. They just happen to meow in a way that sometime has meaning to us.

Had a cat for 19 years, among others for less than that, after a few years he was very able to repeat sounds the same way he heard them. The first I can recall of were "No" and "Mamma" (probably my fault repeating those two more often in my teen years).

I'll be impressed when the cat learns to say 'Bless your heart' when it's pissed. 'Bless your heart' is often the Southern version of 'f**k you.'

One day, I had workmen in the house all day banging hammers and running drills. When they left, they said "BYe, Fancy. See you tomorrow" to the cat. She said, "Go 'way!" One of the guys looked at me and said, "Did she just tell us to go away?" "Yes, she did. " I answered. "Fancy, That was rude. Say 'bye." She gave them a nasty looka and said "Bye". The guys walked out shaking their heads. "That's one smart cat." They remarked.
