Owner Finds A Paper Collar Attached To Her Cat’s Neck After She Returns Home From Toby Carvery

Interview With Owner

Cole Clark from the UK has always allowed her long-haired Siberian feline to go out on her own without worrying about her pastime. However, one weekend, 11-year-old Tula arrived home with a paper collar attached. Clark unraveled it and found a note dated August 16, which said: “Does this cat have a home. Always at Toby Carvery.” Scroll down for Bored Panda’s interview with Tula’s owner Cole Clark!

This 11-year-old Siberian cat has been living a double life

The truth came out when one day, her owner found a paper collar attached with a note

The note completely changed the game and revealed that Tula has been living a secret life apart from her owner. This life apparently was begging for food at the local Toby Carvery restaurant in Abbey Meads, Swindon. “When I found out Tula was frequenting the Carvery, I was hugely amused and not overly surprised. She will go wherever her quest for meat takes her,” said Clark to Bored Panda.

The note was from Toby Carvery

When Clark found out that Tula was a frequent visitor at Toby Carvery, she went down to the restaurant to explain that she wasn’t a stray cat. When asked how the staff reacted, she said: “The staff were thrilled that she wasn’t a stray and told me that they had tried to pick her up by bribing her with prawns, but she ate the prawns, then ran off! Tula is normally at the carvery for lunchtime and often dinner time. She even pops back for supper sometimes.”

The 41-year-old explained that it’s not the first time that Tula has asked for food from strangers. Even though she has always had a warm place to sleep, good quality food, and a loving owner, she would still search for an extra snack. “Tula has a history of following her nose and used to frequent an old people’s home where the old folks would feed her meat paste sandwiches!”

Here’s Tula with her owner Cole Clark

“She is ultimately a total queen of a cat. She has a definite sense of cat entitlement and turns her nose up at anything less than meat! She is beautiful but aloof… Unless you have food! Her cat brothers haven’t yet spotted her scam and haven’t followed her to Toby yet, but she did bring them home a sausage the other evening,” said Clark about Tula’s personality. It seems that this beautiful feline has quite a character, which helps her on her food quests!

Outdoor cats will often have more than one 'home' in their territory, in case the weather gets bad, they get hungry or tired, or they need a nap. My first cat Thomas was a barn cat we brought to NJ with us from WV. He lived 20 long years, carousing, sometimes away for a day or two (nerve wracking, but it was his nature). When he passed, peacefully, we began to see his photo on Lost Cat posters here and there--but with different contact info. They were his other families, looking for him. We called everyone to let them know. Shared some wonderful stories with them.

I love this cat and think she is absolutely beautiful and adorable. She deserves all the food in the world. I am glad that the restaurant is not upset with her for coming around.

We had the same issue. I had a cat keep coming to my front door. I gave it food every morning on my way to work. I was laid off. That next day I gave the cat food as normal. Then in late afternoon I heard mowing coming from the back. I opened my back door to find the same cat at my neighbor's back door getting fed When I told the story to my other neighbor that would speed walk past my house she started laughing. It turned out to be her 80 year old land lady's cat she sent outside every morning. After out talk the land lady grounded it. He sat in the window for two weeks sulking. 🤣

moeless The cat lives in the U.K. where they eat some things that sound disgusting but might actually taste good. They also have different names than we do for the same food so it can be confusing. Salad cream sounds strange to me but it is just creamy salad dressing. Spotted D**k sounds repulsive but after I read the ingredients it still sounds repulsive! I live in the U.S. and have no idea where you live, but I have never been to the U.K. to try any of their local foods. And if you already knew all of this and were just kidding sorry for the lecture lol!

Be grateful this man took that extra step... I would have took your cat in assuming he had no home. It's not safe to let your pets wander. I'll spare you the cruelty cases that I've witnessed at the shelter.... trust me...they are safer indoors...

Cute story. And I understand that the UK has different ideas, but this could have gone very wrong. The cat could have been poisoned, hit by a car, killed by a predator, or picked up any one of a host of diseases. Glad this kitty seems smart enough to avoid those.

As horrible as it is, that could happen to any cat. A lot of UK cats are allowed to go outside, and unless there is lots of space in the owner's house, it could be considered cruel to keep one locked in house (unless it has a specific medical need). One could say the same about humans, but most of us are allowed outside. My point is, don't demonise this lady for doing a normal thing.

Well it's more of a feeding shed than a restaurant, so yes... My cats would be mostly surprised by the idea of "feeding times" (lunch, dinner, supper) as opposed to continuous raiding of neighbouring cat & dog bowls.

We were in a seaside restaurant in St. Malo in France when a dachshund came waddling through the dining room, stopping at every table. We assumed he belonged to the owner, since the waiters just smiled at him. An hour or two later, we saw the same dog entering another restaurant further down the beach. He was just mooching.

What a beauty! But what is a "meat paste sandwich"? (I'd google it but I'm a tad worried our IT might question a search for Meat Paste...)
