And in case you're a bit confused about this whole cat grooming bag thingie, here's some information. Basically, it's a restraining bag that should help you clean your cat's teeth, clip their nails, inject medication and wash them without the situation getting out of control.

"We know it can be tough getting your cat to stay still for anything. The cat grooming bag has multi-access compartments for front paws, back paws, and hindquarters. Fully adjustable to your needs!" reads the description of one of these bags on Amazon.

Because sometimes they get into things that you can't let them lick off. A friend of mine had a cat that liked to lie under cars, until she got herself covered in engine oil from one. Not sure if it was the oil or the subsequent baths but she stopped napping under cars!

The fact that the cat peed is a sign that it was terrified. Poor thing. A cat does not need to be bathed and from what I read this one gets to endure this torture regularly. Makes me angry

Could just be weird, could’ve needed to pee. Bathing regularly is odd, but nothing crazy. The cat is fine.

This just makes me mad. Most cats dislike water, and the sound of running water can be traumatic. Imagine being trapped in a bag and forced to be near something you are afraid of.

Not well enough. Plus they could get chemicals or whatever, would you want them to lick those off?

I know sphynx cats need to be bathed because they are hairless, but very rarely is it necessary to bathe a cat. Having said that I bathed a kitten once because he was so covered in fleas it was the only way I could get them out of his fur because as soon as he was in a wrapped in a towel the fleas climbed in to the towel and I was able to just dump the time in hot water and kill the fleas. Baby wipes also work miraculously well to wipe down the cat that gets into something mucky.

A really cheap and easy remedy that works well is diatomaceous earth. Sprinkle it on the cat and work it into their fur, sprinkle on their bedding and into your carpet. Bonus, it also helps keep them clear of worms, I mix a sprinkle into the wet food, thus it won't hurt if they lick it off. You can get at a lot of garden/hardware/farming stores. A 20lb bag cost me about $12, so call around for smaller sizes or do like I did and buy a bag for multiple households.

Why would you bathe a cat? They are pretty much self-cleaning. You only have to help them when they have something dangerous stuck in the fur that they should not swallow, but that should not happen often. But it sounds as if they bathe their cat regularly.

My 8 month old kitten is a true water cat... she tried to jump from the side of the tub to my towel rack via the toilet seat. Unfortunately the toilet cover was up from just being freshly used by the wife who hadn't 2 seconds to flush before the bowl became filled with wife pee, cat and the usual bowl chemicals . Had to take cat and "rinse" her in the tub and she just loved it! Got her all washed and dried, bowl flushed and floor cleaned from a cat dripping piss and toilet water so, there was a happy ending! Kitten sits in sink while you do dishes and in tub while you shower etc. She's a calico watercat.

STOP bathing cats. It is completely unnecessary! Unless they get into something.

If you insist on doing this , would you try to give her a calming treat before hand? Try filling the tub while the kitty isn't in the bathroom, the noise is scary. I usually put a bucket of clean water next to the tub to rinse my dogs off without turning the water on

Omg , cats don't need baths , and her peeing is showing absolute terror. Turning the water on while she was in the bag is horrible too. Somebody please take this person's cat away

In general, indoor cats don't need baths. Unless the cat is sick and not grooming or has ringworm or scabies, generally no bath is needed or even recommended. Outdoor cats may need a bath if they get into something, and for the same reasons as indoor cats.

And a once a year cleanup bath, just to make sure they got everything from the year, wouldn’t hurt the cat, maybe you though.

Unless they roll in something real smelly, you don't need to bathe a cat.

Cats are self-cleaning. You should never bathe a cat unless it is limited in some way -- physical handicap, age, illness.

Some people can't afford good flea meds, so they probably wash their cat in flea shampoo

Then they shouldn’t have a cat. Harsh but true, having a pet is not a right. If you can’t provide the basic level of care they need it is irresponsible to trap them in an unsuitable home.

Yep, just let them ingest whatever toxic substance those nasty bathers are trying to clean off of them. They probably still believe in that 'old wives tale' about cats being able to catch fleas. Unbelievable! In all seriousness though, I think it's you that needs to get over yourself. They do need baths sometimes, and in the wild cats generally enjoy swimming. It's only because a lot of people dob't know how to introduce a cat to water that people like you believe the 'old wives tale' that all cats hate water and bathing must obviously be cruel. I know that you've demanded that people should 'educate themselves', but you might want to read a book or two on cats before making that kind of statement. Heck, even just employ a bit of common sense- would you really let a cat who has rolled in a toxic substance clean themselves? Or are you suggesting that it magically disappears?

That's rich when you're wrong. What if a cat gets a toxic substance on their fur? Of course sometimes you need to bathe a cat.
