“Left My Cat Alone With A Camera For 30 Minutes And Now I Can Never Leave Again”
Interview With OwnerDue to the coronavirus pandemic, many of us are spending much more time at home than usual. It certainly affects our relationship with our loved ones and pets. Most pets are happy with this overdose of their owner’s attention, because they are never alone and don’t have to feel left out when their owner heads to work.

The fact that pets feel sad and alone when their owners leave even for an hour was proven by Ida Myrin. She shared a video that she took with a hidden camera of her cat, who was left alone in an empty apartment for less than an hour during the quarantine. This video is truly heartbreaking and hard to watch. Scroll down for Bored Panda’s interview with Ida Myrin!

This little fellow’s name is Isola and he turned 3 years old in February. Ida says that they “got him when he was 12 weeks old from a breeder (Maggiedolls) and he’s a ragdoll.” Isola has a very playful and loving personality, but sometimes he gets lazy. “He is kinda spoiled and lazy, but also loving. He always demands our attention and yells every time he doesn’t get it. He’s always moving so that he can see us both, he loves a good cuddle, but hates faces. When he was a kitten he often stopped what he was doing to randomly hit the floor instead and he has NO ball control. We also think that he is a bit claustrophobic. He loves feet. LOVES.”

At the beginning of the video, Isola comes from the kitchen with a leash between his teeth. His eyes search for a trace of his owner and when he cannot find her, he starts to meow in a very sad manner. At one point, he lets go of the leash and starts to look in every corner of the apartment hoping to see her. Without any luck, he then grabs the leash once again, but this time, his meowing is even more heartbreaking. “He has always been very attached to us, but lately, he’s gotten more used to always having somebody around. He can’t stand us working and focusing on other things than him at the moment,” explains Ida.

When asked how Isola behaved when she came home, Ida said: “He didn’t even come to say hi (like he usually ALWAYS does), but went straight to the other cat to smell him.” When she decided to watch the video and find out what he does when no one’s around, she was surprised. “At first, we laughed, especially when he booped the camera, but then it was actually kind of heartbreaking.”

Many commenters were heartbroken and advised Ida to get another cat so this little fellow wouldn’t have to feel alone again even for a second. However, Ida explained that she already has another cat that she had to take to the vet at the time when the video was filmed. She didn’t want to hurt him and certainly didn’t expect him to act this way.
Many commenters were heartbroken:
Some shared their own experiences with their cats:
Some even recommended getting her kitty a pal:
However, Ida explained that she already has another cat:
Well, the good news is that the famous cat is happy now and didn’t have to wait a long time for his owner to come back. Ida even shared a picture that she took when she arrived home with her other cat—her two feline friends laying together and enjoying each other’s company. “They usually get along, but the other cat is an 8-year-old man with integrity so he doesn’t always appreciate Isola’s company. But they groom each other and sleep together from time to time.”

Share on FacebookCat wasn't sad about his human leaving, he was sad about the not knowing where they other cat was. You notice she said he immediately went to the other cat when she got home, not her.
I have 3 cats, 2 adults and a kitten. I don't even want to know what they do while I'm away. But judging from their toys strewn about and other messes, I can clearly tell they were not bored.
Jeepers people, read to the end. She does have two cats, just one was at the vet.
We always put on the radio before we go, because one of the cats needs to hear a human voice when she can't see us. Can't go anywhere in the house if there's no radio playing, because she'll always come and find you. Which isn't always ideal when you are trying to make beds, put the laundry away or have a relaxed sitting on the porcelain throne.
That's why we have two cats ;) problem solved. But once one of them got lost for several months, you guys can't imagine, how the cat cried thru most of the nights :/ walking around our house, calling his friend.... It was really heartbreaking. Luckily we found him!

Load More Replies...There is so such thing as closed doors in my house. My cats would shred the wood to pieces.
My cat came into the room and was using new sounds to communicate with the cat. Don't know what was being said but my cat got it. Isola as others said was pining for the other cat not the owner sorry.
Beautiful cats, I have two, one sleeps a lot, but they do have a good play time, I do not feel too bad when I go out, however, the one who is usually awake, often greets me at the door, or is laying in the hallway, near the door, I know she misses me, I love both !!!
Kitty was missing his buddy and calling for him to come and play.
Damn, my cats (who generally don't get along) were sleeping next to each other on the couch. Watching this video made both of them wake up and walk around, to find out what was going on.
That sound is not necessarily an "I am sad and lonely" because his humans weren't home sound. Based on the rest of the post, ALL of his housemates 2 & 4 legged were absent and that is what caused the summoning vocals. I am glad he has a furry bro and caring humans.
My old cat used to have what I called her power saving meow. When she wanted to come back in, but no one was attending to her, she would do this deeper, drawn out yowl, over and over, I once watched her secretly doing it. But as soon as she saw me through the glass when I moved, she would go back to her normal meow, looking right at me. So maybe this is something like that power saving meow
One moment - they came home with the other cat - He's probably missing the other cat. do the video again, but with both cats at home alone.
While I was watching it my kitty came to see if I was O.K. Once she realized it was not me making the noises, she returned to her normal resting area.
Poor baby, next time I'll catsit for you Ida. Nothing but cuddles and kisses for him until you return and more kisses before I hit the road.😄🐈
This video really upset my cat, too. I wonder just what he was saying? Probably "help"
my cat Riley needs a lot of attention. lots of times tho she gets me into the bedroom only to jump on the windowsill. she loves cuddling but can NOT stand being lifted off the ground. looks like your cat is needy. mine sleeps all day. the whining starts in the evening. I have to go to bed by 8 or she will throw a fit.
This is why I don't want a camera in my house. If I checked in and saw this I'd be racing home. This is why you should always get kittens in pairs, so they have a buddy to keep them company. Putting a kitten with an older cat is not optimal, there's no guarantee they'll get along.
I used to live woth 4 cats, and it was heartbreaking, when I heard one of them crying in the morning through my closed door (I woke up to her crying), and how happy she was, when she realized she's not alone, not everyone left the house...
Flame point siamese, nough said. They're known for being one of the loudest breeds and get lonely easily.
Hearing the sound it’s a ragdoll, and ragdolls need company, you can’t leave them alone. That’s what I know. Mine did this too from the moment I walked outside the house. Heartbreaking. I adopted a sister for here. Good she also has 2. Maybe next time stay home or take them both to the vet
I just played the video, and my cats freaked out, puffy tails and everything. Now, they're all looking at the door, as if waiting for someone to come. Whatever the cat on the video was saying, he's convinced my cats of it too!

Check with your vet, you may be able to bring along 2nd cat for 'moral support'.
That it is a vocalization concerning their "kill". My cat started doing this after she caught her first mouse. Now she does the same calls when she brings me her toys to play.
Cats only meow when they want something, the poor baby missed its owner so much😢. 😻
Cat #1 was worried why everybody including cat#2 left... Was the sting a leash? "Why did you leave me all alone? When are you coming back?"
One of my cats makes that noise when she's playing...usually with a sparkle ball. She gets it in her mouth and then starts yowling. Happens when I'm home...sometimes at 2am.
That's why you never keep just one cat or one dog or one rabbit etc... There is cruelty in isolation, unintended, but none the less it's there.
She's got another cat which was with her at the vets. Seems the cat was missing the other cat more than the human.
Load More Replies...Oh boy. How to unpack that. Ok. We have two cats. Carrying around a toy (and one has a special brown ribbon, just like this, but her place for it is beside the food dish, not on a rug) and singing the song of their people isn't "lonely" it's called "killing prey". Seriously - this is play behavior, not sadness. ...///... They are literally announcing that the "evil" ribbon is dead and letting the world know how tough they are.
