Did you know that a physicist once made his cat the co-author of his paper because he'd accidentally written "we" instead of "I" throughout his work and couldn't be bothered to change it? Also, believe it or not, the British Government has a position called "Chief Mouser To The Cabinet Office" that can only be assigned to a cat. And although this may not surprise you, a study once proved that cats are more than capable of recognizing their owner's voices, but simply choose to ignore it. And they also need to report those people to the local authorities, who should wait a couple of weeks and go to your house to see if you ended up adopting a cat. If you only every tried to adopt a black cat right before Halloween, and you didn't own a cat afterwards, and you never showed an inclination to own a cat later, you need seriously to go on some kind of watch list.
Please don't breed cats for a look. Well mixed genes means healthy cats. If there is 18 links of stray, backyard, runt of the litter, and general fuss-ball I'm happy, as is the cat.
We Japanese say that it's a sign of bad luck when black cat across infront of you..I love black cats though!
And if you do this to your cat, you are a disease to this planet and you need to be terminated.
Oh well my cat throws a tantrum if he doesn't get some milk from time to time.
This is incorrect. There have been at least a dozen species of cats that have gone extinct, even in the last 100 years. Leopard, lion and tiger subspecies have been obliterated by humans.
Yes, hence my first tetanus shot when my hand swelled up like a golf ball...
If the biting cat is your housecat that never goes out, the likelihood that it harbors clostridium tetani is very low. However, giving a "tetanus shot" is habit, like giving anitibiotic shots to kids with viral infections. It's sham medicine to "reassure" you, but no more scientific or effective than having a "witch doctor" shake a rattle over you.
Load More Replies...I've seen cat scratch fever several times. It's scary when the person starts to have red streaks going up their arms. We sent many of people to the ER for blood poisoning.
Yep happened to me. Got bit right in the vein on my wrist. High doses of antibiotics saved me.
Load More Replies...Scratches... bites... I likely had hundreds already... just clean the wound after playing with your cat
This doesn't refer to scratches or superficial bites, but to deep wounds where the surface can heal over, while leaving a pocket of infection beneath. So calm down there, He-Man ;)
Load More Replies...I still have my cat's tooth marks on my left arm. About 10 years after the bitting
My neighbour almost had to have his hand amputated after a wildcat bit him, the infection spread so quickly
It is, my youngest wound up in hospital for 3 days when she was 10 because of a huge cat scratch that went from her knee to her ankle. It heeled over quickly and seemed to be all right until the fever and hallucinations kicked in, she never even mentioned that she didn't feel well.
Load More Replies...not the nails. in pic is explained why the teeth are more dangerous- bite goes deep and teeth are narrow, so the wound closes nicely at the top/on the skin, leaving the bacteria "trapped "down in the wound
Load More Replies...A 5 week old kitten bit me pretty deep..a few days later I thought I was dying and my Dad had to drive me to the Doc because I couldn't function..turns out I had cat scratch fever! It was one of the worst things I've ever experienced!
My cat play bites me all the time but if it doesn't hurt me that but if it does I say ow really loud and he stops
I remember of a news, may be ten years ago. Gendarmes found out that a travelling circus was feeding their lion with cats and dogs they stole in the villages where they settled.
I wonder if cat's know all this stuff about themselves, because mine act pretty helpless.
It's just an act to make you want to take care of them. :)

"cats kidneys are so efficient it can survive on a diet consisting only of meat, with no additional water" not true, all creatures need water to live a healthy life. do not dehydrate your cats because of a post you saw on the internet
I loooove cats..but my mom don't allow one....I hope somebody gifts me a cat.
Cat toes are called 'toe beans', and the tufts of hair in their ears are called 'ear furnishings'.
I really love them all but I think #1 is great. Cats are better then people. My favorite animal.
re: #68 - It wasn't admission. It was a discount. It wasn't a zoo either, per se. It was a managerie at the Tower of London.
Interesting to learn about tuna addiction. We once had a domestic medium hair who was definitely fish addicted, specifically a type of bait fish called a sprat. Any time we caught some, he'd meet us in the driveway, and yowl until we gave him half a dozen. We had to carefully ration them, because if we just gave him a bowl full, he'd eat until he was sick, then keep eating. He'd eat other things when fish wasn't an option, but as soon as there were sprats in the house, that was all he cared about.
The fact about no cat extinctions in 10,000 years is false. The Australian Tasmanian Tiger (or Thylacine) went extinct in 1936 when the last one died in the Hobart zoo. It was found to be more feline than canine despite also having the name Tasmanian Wolf.
The Thylacine wasn't a cat species though. It was a marsupial. Part of the Polyprotodonta family.
Load More Replies...Cats bring you dead things because you are a part of their family. Some cats only share with their own young, some will share with the entire "pride", if you will, and some won't share at all. It depends on you and the cat. My cat kills things sometimes, but she rarely brings them to me because I bring her my "kills". She sees me as a good enough hunter for her not to need to share with me. The few times she does, though, is because she wants the praise of another "hunter", I suppose.
how dare they mark me as their territory there were about 10 to 15 of them at the same time lol~ not to mention they lick off the scent afterwards these bastards haha~
Anyone else see the irony in #4? Disney using cats to keep the mice away??
massive error in fact #66... 32 storeys is not 320 metres, perhaps you meant 320 FEET? Building storeys are not 10m...
#64. The lower the number is the lower the sound is, not higher.
I read somewhere that cats respond better to lower frequencies and dogs to higher ones.
Load More Replies...#45 is incorrect. There have been several species of cat that have gone extinct recently, even in the last 100 years. Species of leopard, lion and tiger have gone extinct because of human poaching.
