That's excellent to know. This is why my mom always wants at least 10 or so cats on their farm even though some aren't that crazy about them. As long as they have around a dozen cats you never see a rat, a mouse or a snake on the place. That is EXTREMELY unusual for most farms. They supplement their feed with regular cat food and extras but don't stuff them so they want to hunt. Most people don't know a cat is NOT born wanting to hunt mice or anything. A mama cat MUST teach her kittens to hunt if they are to catch mice. Otherwise, a cat will only play with a mouse. Cats and mice can be raised to be best friends if begun when very young. You cannot go to a pound and just get a dozen cats and expect mousers. They must be "born into" the job. If you want a good mouser get kittens from a mother cat who herself is an excellent mouser. It's not natural, like a dog. Ever see young pointer puppies, they do it naturally without being taught a thing. Cats are not like this.
If you go during the day you get to see the cats in bushes and trees just hanging out.
Hope they do something about the alligators that snatch kids down there
Spade, neuter and release should happen everywhere. The ASPCA does this free across the U.S. (plus giving shots, fle/mite treatments, vitamins) with mobile hospitals. They wish they had the financial resources to be available in every area, of course that's impossible so take care of your own and try to pay it forward by helping to care for one(?) more
Cats will hunt in areas where they are drawn by rodents...So when your neighbor is overrun by them you might want to suggest they keep their surroundings a bit more tidy. They are actually protecting the area.

And they also need to report those people to the local authorities, who should wait a couple of weeks and go to your house to see if you ended up adopting a cat. If you only every tried to adopt a black cat right before Halloween, and you didn't own a cat afterwards, and you never showed an inclination to own a cat later, you need seriously to go on some kind of watch list.
Please don't breed cats for a look. Well mixed genes means healthy cats. If there is 18 links of stray, backyard, runt of the litter, and general fuss-ball I'm happy, as is the cat.
We Japanese say that it's a sign of bad luck when black cat across infront of you..I love black cats though!

This is incorrect. There have been at least a dozen species of cats that have gone extinct, even in the last 100 years. Leopard, lion and tiger subspecies have been obliterated by humans.
I remember of a news, may be ten years ago. Gendarmes found out that a travelling circus was feeding their lion with cats and dogs they stole in the villages where they settled.
I wonder if cat's know all this stuff about themselves, because mine act pretty helpless.

Cat toes are called 'toe beans', and the tufts of hair in their ears are called 'ear furnishings'.
I really love them all but I think #1 is great. Cats are better then people. My favorite animal.

Interesting to learn about tuna addiction. We once had a domestic medium hair who was definitely fish addicted, specifically a type of bait fish called a sprat. Any time we caught some, he'd meet us in the driveway, and yowl until we gave him half a dozen. We had to carefully ration them, because if we just gave him a bowl full, he'd eat until he was sick, then keep eating. He'd eat other things when fish wasn't an option, but as soon as there were sprats in the house, that was all he cared about.
The fact about no cat extinctions in 10,000 years is false. The Australian Tasmanian Tiger (or Thylacine) went extinct in 1936 when the last one died in the Hobart zoo. It was found to be more feline than canine despite also having the name Tasmanian Wolf.
The Thylacine wasn't a cat species though. It was a marsupial. Part of the Polyprotodonta family.

Cats bring you dead things because you are a part of their family. Some cats only share with their own young, some will share with the entire "pride", if you will, and some won't share at all. It depends on you and the cat. My cat kills things sometimes, but she rarely brings them to me because I bring her my "kills". She sees me as a good enough hunter for her not to need to share with me. The few times she does, though, is because she wants the praise of another "hunter", I suppose.
how dare they mark me as their territory there were about 10 to 15 of them at the same time lol~ not to mention they lick off the scent afterwards these bastards haha~

I read somewhere that cats respond better to lower frequencies and dogs to higher ones.
