Guy Shares His Cat’s Funny Reaction To Him Opening A Can Thinking It’s Tuna, Gets A Fan Comic Strip
Every cat owner knows that whenever they open a can or package of any kind, their feline friend will take it as a dinner invitation. No matter what you’re eating, fluffy buddies will try to treat themselves a portion of your food. This behavior is so common in cats that it has become a widespread meme that never stops being hilarious.
Recently, one cat dad named Jesse Nowack, who is a voice actor and writer based on the East coast, shared a glimpse into his silly cat’s behavior when he opens a tuna can, which immediately went viral. Apparently, his 4-year-old cat Khaleesi loves tuna and refuses to acknowledge that she’s not entitled to a freshly opened can of “sea meat”.
“She’s a rescue that I found in a shelter in New York. She came there apparently all the way from Florida, which no one knew the story behind when I tried to ask,” Jesse told Bored Panda.

Each time Jesse opens up canned food, Khaleesi sprints to the kitchen to see what her human is eating, however, not everything is up to her liking. “I’ve briefly tried to give her human food, but she won’t eat it. Not even tuna. She’s a super picky eater and will only eat certain kinds of cat food, which can be frustrating,” the cat dad said.

Jesse admits that his adorable cat is quite ‘quirky’. “When she’s done using the litter box, she refuses to bury her business and will instead make a burying motion on the floor, the walls, everywhere around the litter box except in the actual litter. She also likes kicking the walls around the house with her back paws, like Thumper from “Bambi.” She’s a total weirdo and I love her,” he told us.
While no matter how much Jesse loves his funny cat, he doesn’t always share tuna with Khaleesi.

Even though cats are allowed to eat it once in a while, vets recommend against regularly feeding tuna to cats. As it turns out, too much ‘sea meat’ in a cat’s diet can lead to mercury poisoning. Besides, tuna doesn’t have enough nutrients needed for cats so if the feline is constantly eating it, they might become malnourished.

Jesse’s hilarious tweet about his cat demanding canned goods quickly went viral. It currently has over 100k likes and over 40k retweets. Someone loved his tweet so much that they even drew him fan art!

After being asked to share some other adorable things about his cat, Jesse said: “I’m pretty sure she has separation anxiety because she cries when I’m not home. When I get back from the store, she’s very excited to see me and rushes to the door to greet me before it’s even open. Everyone that visits and sees how we interact always says, “She loves her dad so much.” She’s the most emotionally intelligent animal I’ve ever met. If I’m upset, she can tell and comes over to comfort me.”

Share on FacebookI love the term "sea meat" for tuna. Also, Khaleesi is adorable. Also, that photo of one person's cat just going inside the fridge for food is hysterical.
Still laughing so hard I may have peed a little at " Cat ate bean dip rather than admit he's wrong" Baaaaahahahahahaaaaa!!!!!!
I lived with a dog who once ate a piece of grapefruit segment because 'it's people food so it must be *marvelous*! She made the most amazing faces the whole time...then begged for more. "it'speoplefoodit'speoplefoodyougottagimmeIwantitsobadit'sgottabewonderful--"
Load More Replies...Now I had a kitten I rescued from it's hiding place in the wheel well of my van during a thunderstorm. He was messy and hungry. Gave him a bath, he protested. Gave him tuna, he turned up his nose at it. Gave him bologna...OMG the skies parted and we were in kitty heaven...lol.
Our housemate's cat has adopted us because she works a lot and we're home most of the time. She's formerly feral, so very independent and has only recently (after four years!) discovered the beauty of laps. Anyway, she was like most of the cats I've known and would not come when called. Since coming when called is an important skill for any cat (or dog or or or) I tried her on a lot of different treats meant for cats. Nothing passed her inspection. I didn't want to get her started on tuna (it's pretty addictive and yes, mercury is an issue) so I tried salmon, instead. That worked like a charm! These days she comes when called more often than not (a huge win!) and we've moved on to baby food (chicken or beef) because once a tin of salmon has been opened it's only "good" on the first day, according to her. Plus, I add a fair amount of water to the teaspoon of baby food so she gets more hydration to offset her very nice crunchies. She is a great cat and we all adore her.
All cats can teleport when they hear a can being opened. My cat also does the paw tap, but for something else. He demands to get to sit on my lap, but he wants me to have my feet up on a footstool. So if I am sitting up normally he sits on the footstool and after a minute will gently touch my arm with his paw. I'll generally pet him for a second and go back to what I was doing. Then he taps me again. If I don't put my feet up so he can be on my lap properly, he gets tired of waiting and just tries to climb on my shoulders instead. He is a large cat.
My cat was bottle-fed as a kitten, so she'll start purring when someone shakes a bottle... any bottle. Doesn't matter if it's coke, beer, nail polish or whatever, if it's in a bottle and someone shakes it, she'll want it.
I learned quickly never to open a can without wearing long pants. That's cause Jack the Ripper (my cat) will be coming up my leg.
Fostered my auntie's cat when she was ill. Quickly learned to not leave an opened can of tuna unattended. Because Charly likes to share. He got the tuna, I got the empty can. Sneaky boy.
A very cute kitty and so clever, I have two kittens and one is too clever, the things she does baffle me, she knows how to lift the edge of the lower cupboard, let it go and the little bang tells me she wants treats from that cupboard, and many other tricks !!!
My cat insists on kibble fresh from the bag for dinner even if he still has plenty left over from breakfast so I grab the bag and shuffle the existing kibble around with my fingers and then he will eat it.
I shake the mustard to mix it. This makes a sound, which brings cats: 'Cheese!' I don't have the heart to tell them I've been known to eat mustard sandwiches. So they each get one miniscule piece of cheese, and they're satisfied--except they all have preferences on *which type* of cheese!
Yes, cats definitely have a preference! I've tried to give my cat Honey a small piece of Kraft or even fancy "real" cheese. No...Ms. Thing will only eat a thin floss of my string cheese....
Load More Replies...I do not own a cat, but this doesn't hinder the cca. 6 furry neighbours from popping up in my windowsill, whenever I open a can.
My granny had a cat who was like that with red salmon. The cat has been dead 20 years but my granny still can't bring herself to eat red salmon because it was the cats favourite and they always used the share a tin!
My cat likes to eat bread w/ tuna. It's adorable. She also likes to eat Cheetos (the puffs)
hmm-in the pic from RidgewayGirl i see only 2 of her boys
If you look at the bottom of the picture, you can make out a pair of legs.
