‘Stop A Douchebag’ Movement Plasters Huge Stickers On Cars To Stop Arrogant Traffic Rule Violators

There’s a Russian youth movement out there that fights against rude drivers and people who flout traffic rules. They call themselves ‘Stop a Douchebag’ (aka ‘StopHam’ aka ‘СтопХам’) and they have a large presence on YouTube, with over 2.5 million combined subscribers on their 2 YouTube channels.

One of the ways they fight back against reckless and egoistic drivers is by pasting humongous stickers on their cars with the words, “I spit on everyone, I drive where I want.” The movement is slightly controversial and is both praised and criticized for what they do. Scroll down, check out their videos, and let us know what you think of their tactics in the comment, dear Pandas.

A video where ‘Stop a Douchebag’ movement members stop a person driving on the sidewalk went viral again recently. This time, on Reddit

Another video surged in popularity on Reddit and internet users were surprised to see the group use huge stickers to shame bad drivers

Founded back in 2010, ‘Stop a Douchebag’ has been fighting against arrogance on the road and parking violations ever since then. Depending on who you ask, the members of the movement are either heroes or hooligans. In short, they’re known as digital vigilantes, and the way that the Russian public and government see them has changed a lot over time.

For example, back in 2011–2013, Vladimir Putin personally expressed support for the ‘Stop a Douchebag’ movement. However, in 2016, public media opinion shifted against the organization after the group confronted a prominent Russian athlete and Olympic champion.

That led to ‘Stop a Douchebag’ being liquidated. Though the decision was overturned just 6 months later, the liquidation was reinforced in 2018. However, the movement stated that they would continue with their raids in spite of this.

The leader of the movement, Dmitry Chugunov, said that the group targeted everyone who was going against traffic regulations. And they meant everyone: from high ranking public servants and parliament members to members of the police force and criminals. Chugunov stated that he was offered ‘millions of rubles’ in bribes not to upload certain videos onto YouTube, but refused.

You can check out the rest of the best videos from ‘Stop a Douchebag’ right here

I could do with some of those stickers! I'm a school crossing patrol officer and the number of people who park where they aren't supposed to is ridiculous.

While I agree with punishing ignorant and dangerous road users, I think it should be done by authorities. A member of the public calling someone out out, dishing out the punishment and then posting it online to shame them is a tiny step away from mob justice (and villagers with pitchforks). And that's a slippery and dangerous slope.

We have something similar in Greece but the stickers are not so big and you can't stick them on the driver's side of the windshield so as not to obscure his view. Anyone can buy them from bookstores, I think it's 50 for € 5 and they say "I'm an a*s and I drive however I want" and there's a picture of a donkey.

I upvoted your post leona, i'm just a girl, a 34 yo woman. Yes the videos are very racists (you didn't notice?) and sexists. It's a different culture. I'm french, yes it's not right, very bad in fact. But let's focus on the good things, some girls from SADB did good things on that channel. You can't change a culture saying "it's bad!" , yes it is and what? The russian girls are strong and they rulled it like they would, if a lot of them are OK with being taken as flesh, uteruses? What's wrong? The next generation will do better with these videos. Seeing women acting crazy "i have children!", "just drive like you should", "i have children and i use them as a shield". No, it it not the way to be an human bein. Their children will see them, see the world, see that it is not OK to treat women like that, and understand why their mother is ashamed on youtube. Not because she is a woman, because she is dumb. THEN they will understand that living as a woman is difficult. SADB do shame women

This is fine if they’re actually a******s, as these people seem to be, but I feel like this could go wrong. For example: someone parks in the handicap spot at the hospital without a permit because their wife is going into labor or someone is injured. Again, for people who are blatantly ignoring people asking them to move or people who are getting violent, this is fine.

Watch every night. Problem is even the Police don't know difference between sidewalk and roadway. Obvious solution is many, clear posted traffic signs. Also interesting is back story whereas the original Moscowites resent being told what to do by outsiders from adjacent geographical locations.

I went to Shenzen for work some years back. A collegue spoke to me and said '.. don't cross at the lights, move 20m (60 ft) down, that way you can see traffic coming the wrong way on the road. Also be careful walking on the pavement as motorbike/scooters use it to get out of the way of cars/lorries. Generally he said, the more wheels you have; the more your right of way, anywhere.

I understand the sentiment behind it but it’s really not OK to put a sticker on someone’s vehicle. If someone put an adhesive sticker on the paint of my car I’d be livid. It’s not OK to potentially cause damage to one of the biggest purchases a person will make in their lifetime because they want to be a vigilante group. I do fully understand why they want to do it though.

I respectfully disagree. This is property, it can be cleaned. I despise that people value materialism over human life. Just because it costs a lot does not give you the right to use it as weapon or use it as an excuse to cause harm. Some of these aggressors were blatantly arrogant and actually running people over - this is assault. Applying a sticker to someones car isn't even destruction of property as it can be removed. "It’s not OK to potentially cause damage to one of the biggest purchases a person will make in their lifetime because they want to be a vigilante group" So because you spent a lot of money on it, regardless of wrong doing, you're 'entitled' (key word here) to do as you please? That doesn't sit right with me. No car is worth more than a life and that's what it boils down to here, worst case scenario, someone loses a a life. That being said, I don't agree with applying it over the drivers side, that means they can no longer drive safely and pose a further risk.

It's a good idea, but aggressive. It might end in a tragedy one of those drivers might do something very stupid.

They are going to make something stupid, they already are doing something stupid. The "tragedy" will got them 20 years in prison. Maybe others things, but something terrible and they deserve it. DON'T PARK WHERE THIS IS NOT ALLOWED! How about that!? Simple, clear, as crystal (your mommy's working name maybe)

You need to watch a few more... there's plenty of aggression from men too. Neither come out looking better than the other as anyone who drives like this are naturally arses.
