30 Times Car Owners Had Such A Terrible Day, They Went To The Internet For Comfort
There are few things more terrifying than when something happens to your precious. By ‘precious,’ I mean your car, of course. And by ‘your,’ I mean that you may or may not have just made your final car payment before something horrendous happened to your beautiful gilded horseless carriage.
It might have been your fault; it might have been a darn seagull that dropped a catfish on your windshield (true story); it might even have been the Universe that messed up. But either way, some car owners are having such a horrible day that they can loudly proclaim that it sucks (and it’s way worse than yours)! So it’s no wonder that they posted their experiences on the ‘Well That Sucks’ subreddit.

That can cause a fire? I spilt oil on my engine and drove that car for ten years after that. It had several mandatory inspections during that time and only once did they even care to note that there was oil spilt over my enigne. It was half a bottle.

If the fire can be attributed to any work the mechanic did, their garage insurance should cover the damage.
Surely that would need to be investigated? I'm thinking if negligence on part of the mechanic can be evidenced, there would be a lawsuit?
its the mechanics fault. Also mini coopers are crap. They are owned by BMW so all your repairs which will be many with also be pricey.
Had something similar happen at a shop I worked at once. The tech left a shop rag on the exhaust manifold. The shop ended up paying for damages, unfortunately the guy's car was total loss.

My parents had two vehicles burst into flames. In one case, my sister borrowed a van to pick up an exchange student from the airport. On the way back, it burst into flames. She had six kids in the car, 3 in car seats that she had to get out. Very scary. The poor exchange student! The van was absolutely reduced to its metal shell.

I'd insist on the insurance company doing a thorough investigation (they probably would anyway) but I find it a very strange coincidence. Although, my ex was a mechanic (one of the reasons they have such a bad reputation) and it never failed that if he worked on a vehicle and it got a flat tire the next day, he was somehow at fault.
Take it back and let them buy you a brand new car... they really totaled your bill!
Cars bursting into flames are almost always caused by an electrical short which produces sparks, which then in turn ignites anything near that is flammable. In my case years ago, the wires going to a light in the glovebox shorted and ignited some papers in the glovebox while I was in the kitchen as I had the ignition on as I had the engine running to warm up. After 5 minutes in my kitchen, I smelled smoke .....
Right next to petrol pumps? Wow, you could consider yourself lucky in some respects I guess.

Paint on a car isn't a nightmare to remove if caught in time. I woke up once to find my car spray painted with graffiti, however it was simply removed with a wet cloth. I'm pretty sure a power washer could remove a lot of the paint in these photos, if not all.
about a couple of years ago or so, my mom got a new windshield, and a week later our neighbor's/landlord's tree broke in a storm and a huge branch fell on our truck. he was supposed to pay, but he did a crappy job and now our passenger door sounds like the window is cracked all the time and when it rains it starts to leak from the sunroof unless we put something up there to stop it.
My car got stolen and the person got into a minor wreck in it barely any damage but it was found in Atlanta, I live in Kentucky. And I had to pay nearly $200 to get it out of impound even tho it was stolen and not my fault.
I was on a bus going through the Sydney airport when a woman carelessly opened her car door right in front of us. No-one was hurt, but the door ended up looking like a concertina and the woman got a nasty fright.
OK, this happened 2 weeks ago = I bought a very nice SUPER CLEAN used minivan and had had it for three days. My friend noticed a loose bolt under the driver's seat, grabbed a can of spray paint I'd just bought (new; ie: FULL) and used it to hammer the bolt home. Bolt still needs repair. Interior, including ALL windows were redecorated. I can't make this s**t up. spraypaint...1b030b.jpg
