There are many contradictions in works of dollmaker Irina from the Russian city of Tver that make each work truly unique. You meet classic Teddy bears, Tilda dolls, attic monsters, delicate lace and black leather, pastel shades and intensive colours.
The author doesn’t know who will be born in her capable hands tomorrow. Every kid is entirely handcrafted and exists in a single copy. The artist uses natural fabrics aged by hand. And each toy has a heavy heart of glass inside — every toy by Irina is truly alive. All toys evoke unique emotions, without which our lives would be meaningless. Irina recommends, ‘Choose a friend from heart, not with your eyes’.
