Chick-Fil-A Get Called Out By Burger King With Their Promise To Donate 40 Cents To LGBTQ+ Causes From Each Chicken Sandwich They Sell

Fast food chains tend to occasionally re-define their industry rivalry. As the world is living Pride Month vibes, Burger King decided to troll another famous joint, Chick-fil-A, known for supporting anti-LGBTQ+ groups. Burger King came up with a campaign where they donate a certain amount from each special-edition chicken sandwich sold to their supported foundation fighting for equal rights. This sparked backlash from Chick-fil-A supporters as they took Burger King’s Tweet quite personally.

The Tweet and the aftermath has echoed through the internet, stirring up a few discussions and debates as well as causing a few controversial details about these huge corporations to come out (no pun intended).

More info: Twitter

Last week on Twitter Burger King announced the celebration of Pride Month by making donations to a pro-LGBTQ+ rights activist group

Burger King came up with a scrumptious new chicken sandwich to celebrate Pride Month. For every Ch’King sold during this month, the fast food chain will donate 40 cents to Human Rights Campaign, which is America’s largest LGBTQ+ civil rights organization. HRC “envision a world where LGBTQ+ people are ensured equality at home, at work, and in every community.” In the Tweet posted by Burger King last week, not trying to conceal it too much, they added ‘even on Sundays’, which suggests their Chick-fil-A shout-out. It is known for the Christian tradition of Sabbath and not opening its eateries on Sundays.

The posted Tweet has received a lot of praise and criticism since it nonchalantly mentioned Chick-fil-A

A few years ago, Burger King also introduced their ‘Proud Whopper’ to celebrate Pride, where the wrapping was decorated with rainbow colors. The fast food chain has sponsored pride parades in different cities before. HRC has organized protests that were directly against Chick-fil-A as the chain avidly stands by Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Salvation Army, among others, and they were accused of having anti- LGBTQ+ policies.

Burger King has been supporting the LGBTQ+ community and standing in solidarity with groups fighting for the Equality Act

Burger King announced the donation in their statement “this is a community we love dearly and have proudly supported over the years, so we couldn’t miss an opportunity to take action and help shine a light on the important conversation happening.” Chick-fil-A took the message with bitterness, accusing Burger King of mocking Christians.

Chick-fil-A supporters didn’t take the statement from Burger King that well; in fact, they took it quite badly

It was controversially revealed in the past that Chick-fil-A donated money to a foundation that is known for supporting the fight against the Equality Act, which is backed by President Joe Biden. If successful, the act would make it illegal to discriminate against LGBTQ+ people. The conservative chicken fast food joint has a long history of supporting anti-LGBTQ+ groups and although the company said it has cut ties and stopped supporting those foundations, nothing has really stopped them or their gifts to homophobic groups.

As the battle of fast-food chains continues, it is worth mentioning all charitable donations by large-sized companies can, in fact, be beneficial for them. The financial support to organizations can be written off on their taxes and they end up being quite profitable, as long as there is some clever accounting involved. And of course, being in the press and gaining attention is a great contribution to any business, as long as it is positive.

And here are a few other opinions from Twitter users, ranging from loving to hating and everything in between

Aww poor little fake Christians upset about fast food that's supporting humanity even if it's for corporate pandering it's still funny. If you're a real Christian this wouldn't upset you.

As a Christian, human rights are not anti-Christian and I would argue that LGBTQ+ is also not anti-Christian. What is anti-Christian is modern day "Christians" who take offense over people's personal choices, people's states of being, and an organization that just wants to protect human rights for everybody.

And hell without them sounds like heaven for me hearing I'm doomed anyway and mad other one was speech less when I told that ut was a relief that I would be in hell for eternity not in heaven even just for a day.stopped them sick need to demanding total obiense from me ever again and I'm love the silence around me again so yeah I tell people that I don't even show any kind of understanding their opion even if the speech was to waist a second of my life ever again just walk away. It's just not an option thinking of just seem to be without a kindness to understand their facts just to be nice doing so. No way ever! I judge people for their way of thinking and how they treat others not by what church you attend. It just isn't logical to me doing so. We are all equal and we are our self to blame if we deside to be a sphycopath because we feel superior and above all the other people wishing severe punishment on all of us and even our children. Nothing is holy to these type of people!

I’m a Christian and I think this is fantastic. Being kind to people is part of the Bible. Just because who they love is different than what you’re told to do doesn’t mean you need to hate on the entire organization. Everyone deserves kindness and to be able to love who they want to. Simple as that.

No one has any right to be mad r/n. Chik-Fil-A and anyone who eats there brought this on themselves by being inbred lunatics. All Burger King is doing is raking in the customers Chik-Fil-A openly stated they hate. Personally I think Chik-Fil-A tastes like crap anyways.

I never ate Chick-fil-A before. So I'm good. My husband had a work meeting and they got it and he hated it! He stopped at BK last night after work, I had already ate and don't usually eat fast food so I suggested he try the new ChKing. They put the mayo sauce even though he went inside and said not to so he brought the mistake for me to try. It was actually. Good. Remember in the 80s and 90s when Wendy's and Arby's had great chicken breast sandwiches? This was like that! It's a shame my stomach can't handle that but I hope BK still makes them like that in 6 months when I have cramps and a cold and am craving one. 😂

i wish companies would get out the bullshit of being social justice warriors, or being woke or supporting one side of society or this group or that group for fear of retaliation from the mob that is offended. Just sell your s**t and be done. Its a no win when you try and play the woke game. Someone will always be offended. The best move is not to play.

Can homosexuals please stop caring that a segment of our society disapprove of their lifestyle? I mean seriously there's always a segment of society that disapprove of any given thing. Get over yourselves and just live your life.

alright, I will say this unless there is evidence that BK really is donating to LGTBQ+ communities I am not fully convinced that BK really IS donating. I'm not being homophobic..I just have trust issues. I got two reasons for this one, they could be doing this for more money and attention after the child labor situation(yall know what I'm talking about), and two who knows what they actually do with the money they are promising that is going to the LGTBQ+ communities. please if you have evidence about this, give it to me..thanks, again hope it doesn't sound homophonic, I did not mean for it to sound like that.

I tried Chick-fil-A once. I wasn't impressed. I did like the mouthwash dispenser in the restroom though.

Burger King will never be chic-fil-a. They can pander all they want. They will never have a spicy chicken sandwich (delux) with waffle fries and a diet lemonade that can compare to cfa. Haters gonna hate, but cfa is sooooo goooood

i wish companies would get out the bullshit of being social justice warriors, or being woke or supporting one side of society or this group or that group for fear of retaliation from the mob that is offended.

They "could be doing this for more money and attention"? You do know the concept of advertisement, do you?

I'm an atheist and even I am annoyed by all the crap all the businesses are doing during June to look good by pushing all this sexual crap. Burger King, please leave your business vendettas and sexual degeneracy out of the food industry.

You tried so hard to make yourself sound reasonable, but couldn't hide your blatant homophobia there could you.
