“My Little Brother Found Out I’m Not His Fully Sister, And I Came Home To This… I’m Crying”
How would you feel if you discovered that your sibling was in fact a half-sibling? To many people it wouldn’t matter that much, it’s the relationship that counts. But to a child, being told that some part of your sibling has been suddenly taken away from you can be a devastating blow.
Twitter user Pam’s brother recently got the news that his beloved sister is not actually a ‘fully sister,’ and it upset him quite a lot. So he decided to pen a heartfelt and completely adorable letter to her, which he presented to her along with some gifts to show his love.
Pam shared the moving letter on Twitter and it is turning hearts to mush, with people in awe at the pure and unconditional love that Pam’s brother clearly has for his big sis. Her post has since gone viral, and is encouraging others to share their own beautiful sibling stories too! All of my siblings are scientifically half siblings but I would never refer to them that way, they are my sisters and brothers. Both of my parents were married with two kids before marrying each other and having me.
Same would be with my baby. It already have a big brother from it's father side. And boy also have younger sister from his mother side. He's just going to have another half brother, but I will never call him like that. They will be siblings and that's it.

Kinda different, kinda the same. My mother-in-law refused to introduce me as her daughter-in-law. She always just said this is my daughter. It caused some shock. She was a sweet Jewish Bubbe from the valley, I'm black. I sure did love that woman.

This does affect some so greatly, my nephew was adopted by my brother when he was a baby, fast-forward to his 20's and he found out his sister and brothers were "half", this has been devastating for him in so many ways, he's worked through most of it but not without a heavy cost, I was never, EVER for them not telling him the truth when he was young, I wish they had told him, it ended up being horrible for him, and still is in many ways. You can't judge people and their heart felt feelings, what doesn't make sense to you might be earth shattering to someone else. I love this story, made me tear up, such a very sweet story.
I have a "step sister" and "step brother" I know that's literally no blood relation but they are the most amazing people and we have always referred to each other as just regular ol brothers and sisters even though our parents are now divorced. I even call my now ex step dad plain old dad because he was the person who raised me when my sperm diner decided his alcoholic wife and yorkies were the most important things in his life.... sorry for the mini rant I just don't think blood has anything to do with family
Because that's what they are. Most family it seems now days have these things. Legally and scientifically these terms need to exist. But as far as what they are to you is what they are.

Labels. Family is just a word in a Dictionary. True family is any individual that accepts you for the individual you are. I was adopted and I told my brother that, " I am always irritated when I am around you and baffled by your ridiculous life choices. Every bit as much AS IF YOU WERE MY REAL BROTHER!"
I know, it's touchy... but why people have to put EVERYTHING - even so intimate - to the Internet? Why they just can't live the moment alone, without applause of thousands of strangers? I don't get it. btw: If I was this brother I wouldn't be happy if my sister posts my private feeling in social media...
Family is not always about biology. My only sibling died 10 years ago, and I would give anything to find out if I have half siblings out in the world somewhere (my godmother told me that this is a possibility) or any family. I've been alone in the world for 10 years. My mom and dad, aunts and uncles, grandparents have all been gone for so long that I feel like an orphan. Love your family, whether they're half siblings, step siblings or stepparents, or just your chosen family, because you never know what's going to happen in the future. Give them all a hug for me, ok?
My aunt told me that my brother was my half brother when I was around 23. She acted like it was shocking news. I was like.."yeah..we figured something was up with him a long time ago. He's the skinniest one in the family..everyone has straight brown hair and brown eyes except he has wavy brown hair and hazel eyes... We thought he was adopted. But half brother makes more sense."
All of my siblings are half siblings, but I've never seen them as anything less than my brothers and sister. Fully my siblings, and fully annoying. I wouldn't have it any other way.
I have 6 siblings, my mum had my older brother with one guy, then met my dad a few years later and had me. 8 years later, mum had found her husband and had 3 kids with him. A few years ago my dad found my step-mum, and they have 2 kids together, so I am technically the only one from both my mum and my dad. I have never even thought about them as being 'half' siblings, they are full family to me.
Lol my (half) big sister was the one to tell me, she told me my dad left when I was born because he didn't love me, I was 11 when she came out with that one... Good times...

When my 9 year old sister found out (after asking a lot of questions, like how my age and her parent's marriage didn't add up). she was silent for a few seconds and then she just said "Hey sister from another mister". We laughed and never mentioned again.
My little sister, oh, how I adore her. I don't care if our fathers are different. I just care that we're sisters. And she will always be my full sister to me. She's filled up the empty half with love, care, hilariousness, and how adorable and precious she is. I will always be there for her. Though we live in different houses I will still send my love. I always remember her. Because she cannot read, she asks my mom if she can text me stickers, and every sticker fills me with joy. You don't know how much I love her. We'll never know how much. It's a number bigger than googolplexian, it's far more than infinity... it's just so much I would never be able to count up to it!

I define my siblings as half or step only when clarifying. Both my parents had kids from previous marriages - I'm the only 'Theirs' - and my Dad adopted my Mom's kids (making them technically Steps). Most people outside the family aren't even aware of my having siblings because the youngest is 10 years older and only a couple of them lived with my folks and me and none after I turned 6). I can't recall anyone in my family or friends who used the terms. I have 2 kids by different mothers, tho and my Daughter's mother refers to my Son as 'Half-Brother' but I just say' You're Brother & Sister, period'. I always tried to coordinate their visitation. I have found use of the terms to be pretty uncommon in my long experience.
