They should re-hire Brad's wife to be there new social media personality. Turn a negative into a positive and roll with it.

Boy, Cracker Barrel is really caught in a crack here. Its lose-lose, no matter what they do. If they don't state why Brad's wife was fired, they are hiding from the truth. If they do state why, they are violating the privacy of Brad's Wife, and opening themselves to a lawsuit. What a Chinese Fire Drill this one is. I can imagine this one becoming a funny movie before this is all over.

They obviously missed the chance to save their necks with a clever comment, revealing the intention and ridiculuous dynamics this took. Social media is still challenging for many companies.

I think Michelle Bowman Neuhauser hit the nail on the head with her comment. This was also my suspicion. Many people were saying she was older. My guess if that's truly the case, and her employee file is riddle with positive reviews, she may have an ageist lawsuit on her hands!

Not a question you should ask on Facebook, he should have gone there and asked that question. Companies do, sadly, have a right to fire people and the answer may be one he might not like, but agree with? Some things are best left alone. Maybe she just hasn't wanted to tell him why she was fired.

LOL! My son, Taylor, was fired with this explanation(?) after he had been building up his "gold stars" on his apron, no less. Here's what he was told: we only hired you because Ms. Whoever had to have surgery & because she got well we no longer need you because you were her replacement. We can keep you but for only a couple of hours a day part-time. His drive was 60 miles bothe ways and his last week(?) was only 1 day for 1 hour. Go figure. It's a wonder they have any employees at all! To Brad's wife, I pray you get a much better job next door at Ruby Tuesday's! LOL😂😜

I'm gonna get me a job at Cracker Firall, I hear their is an opening since they fired brads wife after 11years of service, if I don't work out, I still got eleven years before they figure out I am not working out. If I work about an hour each shift instead of the whole shift like Brads wife, I might even retire before they notice I am not working out. "She's not working out"? After 11 years? That's a non-reason. This sounds like age discrimination to me. She should contact the EEOC. Win-win. FB trolling CB, CB paying Brad's wife back pay, and punitive damages for pain, and suffering, Brad's loss of marital priviliges.... I mean, who could enjoy a loving relationship knowing your wife was fired from CB for no reason!!

Yeah, my mother was a security guard at ADM in Decatur, IL, for over 20 years. She was a very diligent worker with a great record. The security company changed ownership and they said my mom wasn't a good fit and fired her! How can you suddenly not be a good fit after over 20 years?! Wouldn't have anything to do with being 60, would it?

Unless they tell Brad or Brad's wife tells him differently, then I'm going to assume CB no longer wanted to pay or refused to pay her benefits since she put in between 40-50 hours a week. If the only excuse they gave was, "She isn't working out", don't just assume Brad's wife was at fault. Look at the past years at how many people were fired before their tenure came around or the company didn't won't to pay full retirement benefits. A lot of companies these days don't care about their employees like they used too. AND, if she was an older women, they probably wanted her gone because she was no longer build like a "MODEL". People and companies have become more and more cruel these days. After 11 years on the job, if she did something so bad to get fired over, trust me, CB wouldn't be so quiet.

Maybe if all the trolls did their research they would find out that this happened in Indiana and Indiana is an at will employment state. This means you are not protected against unreasonable terminations. So you can be fired for any reason at anytime. Another thing, are people really that dumb that they don't know about confidentiality laws? Trolls demanding a reason why Nanette Byrd was fired? Legally Cracker Barrel can not release that information. So legally Cracker Barrel does not have to rehire Nanette Byrd, and they don't have to tell people s**t because it is illegal. Another thing, was it a corporate or franchise Cracker Barrel. There are to many things missing from this article. Actually this writer should go work for CNN or NBC. This article is not writing, reporting, or journalism. It is just typing. Click bait needs to end. It is why fake news exists. Did someone seriously get paid for this article?

Why "justice?" We don't know all the facts. Also, most states in the U.S. are 'at will,' which means both the employee and employer can 'part ways' at any time, without giving a reason.

So... was there ever an actual ANSWER to the question? For the most part, I don't take either side in such situations without SOME kind of explanation from both sides -- and if one declines -- which BOTH appear to have -- I tend to go with the one who answered. I'm sorry, Brad's WIFE has some kind of explanation from HER about how it HAPPENED, yet Brad has declined to SHARE it with us. I mean, "I dropped a plate of food, and the manager fired me on the spot!!" is bad for CB, but "I yelled openly at a customer in front of other customers, because the customer kept going back and forth on 'Biscuits or cornbread?' each time I brought them to him..." is not a unreasonable cause for termination.

I know this is old but uf anyone reads this, f**k Cracker Barrell. I hate that place. I had a friend get wrote up for being accused of being racist by a couple because of how long their food was taking. Not because of anything she said. But because a table that got there right after them, got their food right before them. It was not because she hadn't rung their food in first and I knew it for a fact and tried to defend her. I was told by the manager that it wasn't my business. There a ton of different food they make there and depending on what you get it can take 2 minutes or 20 for the cook time not counting how long it takes to get to the ticket. You see, since Cracker Barrel has been pretty notorious for accusations of racism. She was prophylactically written up by a lazy manager to save his a*s just in case. Instead of actually investigating what happened and talking to any possible witness like myself or pulling up the ticket times to see she rang them in first. F**k that place.

The reason why so many like Brad's wife employment was terminated is because, that is what corrupt ??elitist companies?? as cracker barrel seems to believe they are elitist companies DO believe that they can disrupt a person living and never have or face repercussions because they never have before, and they believe that they will never face repercussions for what they really believe can do to their employees I know, they did the same thing to me 20 years ago I felt like I was automatically put in their prison of f**k'ups with any explanations and there I sat thinking I had done something very criminal even to this day, cracker barrel says nothing with their hand in my face saying live with our judgement OH I've successfully moved on quite prosperously BUT nevertheless, cracker barrel has recognized itself a magnanimous business success god in their own eyes & judgement and that's that Believe this or not Call all US citizens, stop giving cracker barrel your business

Gwen Alexander of Corydon Indiana seems like she has made a very bad judgment call when she claimed "things were not working out between Nanette (Brad's wife, and Cracker Barrel)! Maybe Gwen (the District Manager) misspoke and/or was new to her position, and did not realize that Nanette has been employed by this company for eleven years for an obvious reason...she is good at what she does and also a customer favorite! I believe Gwen should be calling Nanette "Brad's wife" and very apologetically relaying her regret while also offering her a new position with the company as a paid host...since so many people have showed an out pouring of love specifically for Nanette! With a bit of a raise and possibly a perk, such as a vacation on the company for the trouble this has caused her and her family! Guarantee her a job as long as she chooses to work also!

Brad's wife spilled coffee on my grandpa, refused to apologise and blamed him for being old and blind (he was just cured from retinoblastoma a few weeks back). She also mixed our our orders (intentionally?) and gave us bacon and sausages when we specifically told her that some of us are vegetarians. #justiceisserved

This is stupid. Obviously she was fired for not doing her job. Get over it already. If you had been the one receiving poor service from Brads wife you would something done about it immediately and demand a free meal for you and your guests plus a gift card to come back again for another free meal. STFU already

Due to employer employee confidentiality it is illegal for Cracker Barrel to announce why they have dismissed an employee. If Brad's wife would like answers which she has not received to her satisfaction she should take it up with the company herself, Not leave it to her husband and the internet to get those answers. I am sure at the time of dismissal an explanation was given. Please do not attempt to ruin a persons business using media like this and actually ask Brad's wife the reason they gave before attempting to case that business to go into forclosure due to Internet trolls who have never eaten there jumping on this "cause" even though they do not know the facts. If Brads wife gives them permission to explain why she was dismissed on this media then I am sure cracker barrel can give a full explanation .

Actually, firing long time female employees without explanation is classic sex discrimination. Maybe some of the commentators here should stop acting like discriminating against women is a joke rather than an abuse of human rights. I get this is ironic, but ironic is no good against sex based psychopathy.

So , let me get this straight. Brads wife was amazing for 11 years. Cracker Barrel for some unknown reason , finds out its Brads birthday. Because no one is talking from Cracker Barrel, we are supposed to believe this termination has nothing to do with Brad, or his birthday. We are to believe this lovely, hardworking , 11 year employee, suddenly became redundant? Well... Cracker Barrel, I for one don't buy it. I know its not what you wanted Brad, but I am sorry their nefarious plot to scandalize your birthday came to fruition. So sad. Brad will carry the weight of this offense to his death. Never again to enjoy his birthday. Poor Brad, and Brads wife.

They should honestly just answer the question. Then maybe they would get away from all of this bad publicity. There is a slight possibility that "Brad's Wife" was fired for good reason. Maybe she was caught spiting in a customers food? Maybe she was caught stealing money? Maybe she was caught dipping her fingers in a customers food for a tiny taste, on numerous occasions and she has some seriously contagious disease or maybe like many people in customer service, after 11 years of service she became a miserable old b***h and no longer had the drive to provide a friendly/happy customer service experience for the "faithful Regular's" that frequent the Cracker Barrel...Who Knows? So, please Cracker Barrel, for the love of god! Just answer the damn question and end this!

C.B. is definitely one ! The person who guessed probably getting close to retirement was probably right. I'm currently looking for work for the same reason. I managed and doubled a companies out pout in 5 years but bc I didn't follow the "corporate" mentality I was let go without warning. Could it be bc I was due almost 9k I'm bonuses? Who knows. The company will not tell why she was fired for that would open them to a lawsuit. Maybe she failed a drug test? Maybe she was turning tricks in the bathroom? Maybe she was caught one to many times not washing her hands after using the bathroom? None of the people who posted on FB even know her or Brad, so they do not know what type of person she was. And a person can change when life changes so maybe that was why? Or maybe she started the whole change their name because "Cracker" is a racist term.

my question is why tf didn't the husband call the store directly. The corporate page isn't going to know why an employee of a single store was fired. It seems like he deliberately set up this stupid thing. I agree there should have been a reason beyond "She wasn't working out" but this is idiotic.

How would you like it if people trolled you for every little decision you made, or every moronic action you took (like trolling a business for making a decision on how to run their company) I am certain they had a reason, and after 11 years I am certain she was told multiple times about the issue in order to correct the situation. so please think before you write because quiet frankly IT IS NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS

Unfortunately, unless Nanette can prove that she was discriminated against, most likely The barrel doesn't have to have a reason for her termination. Indiana is still behind the times by being an "At will," state. The only time the burden falls on the employer is when unemployment is filed. Good luck. That's awful.

I think the trolls are wasting their time. Employment records are CONFIDENTIAL. For those that don't know the meaning of the word, I'll type slow. That means if an employer goes public with the employment record of an employee, they are in violation of the law. The violated employee then has cause for a civil suit. But troll away people. Don't let facts stand in the way of a good hand wringing/tongue waging session.

hum how in hell would the boss have known it was brad's birthday? And even if they knew it is their right to fire an employee judged unefficient by the manager this reaction on facebook is,at best, childish.

It took 11 yrs to decide she wasn't working out? From what I've read it sounds MORE like her "new" boss was playing games with the fact that this woman WAS reaching an age where she COULD retire. If nothing else they need to take a good look at what their new hire is up to that firing a woman who was GM for 11 ys can happen with NO complaints..no write ups..nothing other than reaching her retirement age??

For those not in the know, Cracker Barrel is an odious company for several reasons; They are overtly racist and anti-gay. Google them to see how many lawsuits have been filed and settled. The point is, she was there 11 years and probably saw this stuff first hand. She can't possibly act surprised when a s****y company treated her like s**t.

Facebook / Social media is not the place to discuss a firing. What followed was a whole new level of fake news, and no benefit to the fired woman.

Not a question you should ask on Facebook, he should have gone there and asked that question. Companies do, sadly, have a right to fire people and the answer may be one he might not like, but agree with? Some things are best left alone. Maybe she just hasn't wanted to tell him why she was fired.

LOL😂😜

So... was there ever an actual ANSWER to the question?

This seems to be about attention, not about justice for workplace unfairness. Besides: for privacy reasons, the employer could not even answer publicly on facebook or would face a lawsuit...

Reading through the comments by others, the social media crows obviously trolled Brad as much as they trolled this restaurant. Oh dear.

Like I'm willing to bet she knows exactly what she did to get fired but is playing dumb because she doesn't want her husband to know. I mean CB can't even tell him without her permission due to privacy laws.

hum how in hell would the boss have known it was brad's birthday? And even if they knew it is their right to fire an employee judged unefficient by the manager this reaction on facebook is,at best, childish.

It took 11 yrs to decide she wasn't working out? From what I've read it sounds MORE like her "new" boss was playing games with the fact that this woman WAS reaching an age where she COULD retire. If nothing else they need to take a good look at what their new hire is up to that firing a woman who was GM for 11 ys can happen with NO complaints..no write ups..nothing other than reaching her retirement age??

Maybe they think Brad's wife is gay. They love pushing their "christian values" off on everyone - why stop at the employees?

May be they thought Brad's wife is gay - since they push their "christian values" off on everyone, why stop at the employees?

Sorry but they own store and should have the right to fire someone.......I don't doubt that they had a reason, good or bad

Yeah, and they should tell someone why they were fired. They said that "she wasn't working out" but after 11 years...? It took them that long to realize she was not a good fit for their business?

For those not in the know, Cracker Barrel is an odious company for several reasons; They are overtly racist and anti-gay. Google them to see how many lawsuits have been filed and settled. The point is, she was there 11 years and probably saw this stuff first hand. She can't possibly act surprised when a s****y company treated her like s**t.

Facebook / Social media is not the place to discuss a firing. What followed was a whole new level of fake news, and no benefit to the fired woman.
