2-Year-Old Rescues His Twin Brother From Under A Fallen Dresser (After Doing Something Ridiculous)
Brothers are supposed to look after each other, and that’s exactly what this little 2-year-old did when his twin brother got trapped beneath a fallen chest of drawers.
Bowdy Shoff, from Utah, US, found almost superhuman levels of strength when the furniture collapsed and pinned his brother Brock underneath while the two were climbing on it. The video below, which apparently took place on December 30th, was captured by a surveillance camera in the family’s home. It was recently shared by the children’s father Ricky as a warning to other parents of what can happen when the household furniture isn’t firmly attached to the wall.
“I’ve been a little hesitant to post this,” he wrote. “But I feel it’s not only to bring awareness, but it is also incredible. We are so grateful for the bond that these twin brothers share. Please make sure all your dressers are bolted and secured to the wall.”

I know accidents happen, but where was everyone?? surely someone should have heard a big crash and some crying!
I read somewhere else that they didn't hear thw crash, and that they themselves even don't know how they couldn't hear it, and that they're terribly sorry, very relieved about the outcome, and their overall attitude towards what happened implies they'll be more careful from now on.

Ok so what took the parents so long to respond and that kid played so a while before he did anything, and I agree with others why didn't they yell for their parents. You have video surveillance but not a baby monitor? Wtf
For those who are calling "bad parent", while this accident was preventable, this is extremely common. (some statistics say every 20 minutes in the US) People don't think to anchor low profile furniture. I think we all want to think we would never make a mistake like this and only children who are neglected get hurt. Let's take the lesson and reserve judgment.

I love when parents get all public service announcment, when most everyone already knew that you need to bolt dressers to the wall or at the very least, oh, idk, watch your kids?!
it is a good idea to share this. I never thought of that possibility and I am now going to check my son's furniture.
I truly don't remember a single instance where I had a dresser fall over and how come there's no clothes in the drawers? Glad all is well.
Ikea's dressers do come with instructions. If she didn't bolt it in to the wall, that's her own damn fault.

I did this to my two year old sister when I was three..unfortunately not the saving bit as I had tied her up,put her in a cupboard, tied the cupboard doors together, pulled it over and in the process crushed her dolls house to bits. I don't think I was a very good brother when I was little thankfully I grew out of it
I have five daughters. I learned to baby proof my home very well based upon the fact I am a complete clutz and have basically already discovered most of the ways my children could hurt themselves, even if I left nothing out to hurt themselves with. Example: I once tried to change into my jammies too close to the stop of the stairs. Lost my balance and tumbled down the stairs, with pants half down and my long gown half on.
Note: My daughters grew up w/o injury, however it was me who was cleaning when a hand weight rolled off the shelf and fractured my pinkie, it was me stood on a chair with wheels and fell (hitting my head on the window sill)(I was trying to water my plants). We won't even go into things I did as a kid intentionally.

"I feel this should be a warning for parents to watch what kind of furniture you need to have". Um, yeah and how about learning to watch your kids too. Or at the very least get your ears checked since I don't know how anyone could not have heard a crash.

2 years olds climbing is ridiculous? This thread title is ridiculous.
I understand that the parents have already learnt something from this, but for god's sake, even without children at home such things should be screwed into the wall!
I would assume that unfortunately the child having the dresser fall ON him, would have somewhat muffled the crash sound...as much as the child did in fact help his brother in the end, he was more concerned about the item plugged in, so much so as to climb over the dresser further putting weight on his brother, to see it was unplugged, there was no urgency here, it is actually really unsettling, the other child was levering himself out while all this was going on, which also makes me think that he wasn't crying and screaming but getting it done. The brother did a good thing in the end, but I think that he felt his brother was mucking around more so than in actual danger, they were very lucky. Whether the parents were asleep or not, there is a tendency to dismiss some noises when you have kids, and to have twin boys, I can imagine things are flying off shelves and crash boom bahing all day long :(
From the images I think the left twin only starts really wailing after his twin climbs on the dresser, nearly suffocating him. Especially as the "free" twin doesn't get anxious to help his brother until then, so the wailing must have woken up to the fact that he was in distress. I don't think he would have been so relaxed the whole time if the brother had been actually crying from the beginning.

Pretty sure all Ikea furniture manuals say to anchor cabinets to the wall but a lot of people just ignore this. and you don't have to be a scientist to know a cabinet can tip over if you open all the drawers with weight in them.
