These 50 Pics Show How Dystopic Our Society Already Is, And Maybe They’ll Inspire You To Change Something
What comes to mind when you think of a dystopian universe? is it Dali-esque surrealist landscapes or is it a more realistic world like 'The Handmaidens Tale' or '1984.' Well, according to the late Brtish academic and cultural theorist Mark Fisher, we are already living in a present-day dystopian society and folks - it is very boring.
The term 'boring dystopia' was coined by Fisher in 2015 and refers to the subliminal coercion that abounds in a capitalist society. So subtle that unless you're looking, you might not realize these problems with society are actually already happening. Charlie Booker's Black Mirror is the closest fantasy depiction of this theory, with his episodes questioning how far is too far when it comes to our evolving technology and how close we are to the dystopian future.
However, for real-life examples of this theory, and social issues coming together with, it look no further than the sub-Reddit titled 'A Boring Dystopia,' which is dedicated to sharing images that are disturbingly unassuming. From the poster that reads "Sleep deprivation is your drug of choice. You might be a doer," or a bus passing by with bold black letters stating, "You don't need therapy you just need a new car," the following photos may make you question every society problem in a different light.

Tell you what...it's difficult to limit screen time for kids, but it's so very important.
If this is true, then this is the most frightening thing I've read in a long, long time.
Toddlers should not be watching so many youtube videos that they think "Goodbye" is the same as "Don't forget to subscribe". Also, what youtube videos are you letting your kid watch? The kids stuff almost never says "Don't forget to subscribe"
I kept my grandson out all afternoon today. He's in kindergarten, I picked him up at 12and we spent the afternoon at a local farm, petting animals, watching the fish in the pond, playing tic tac toe, and drinking apple cider. I do lots of stuff like that with him because he really enjoys his tablet time. I have to compete with these brilliant minds who make the devices so addictive. It's a lot of work to compete with them but we HAVE to do it. I'm not a foil hat type, but I swear these little devices suck these kids in like nothing the human race has ever experienced before. We have NO idea what the outcome is gonna be, but I don't like it and I'm guilty too obviously cuz I'm on here commenting. But we have to help the children pull away from the technology sometimes. For everybody's benefit.
When I was young I thought "To be continued" ment "the end". We had no cable and I only watched maybe an hour or two of cartoons every Saturday. Chillllll people. Just because the kid said that does not mean they watch hours and hours a day.
If a Toddler is watching you tube, a parent needs to be arrested for child neglect.
People used to complain about TV content not being good for kids. This is not the fault of the TV. It is the fault of parents using TV as a babysitter. It's the equivalent of dropping your kids off at a brothel for the day, day after day, and then complaining that the kids aren't learning good moral values. Hello! It's a whorehouse!
One of my first graders says that after he shows me work he's done on an assignment. Was funny at first, but now disturbing, especially when he tells me the kind of videos he watches. :-(
Shouldn’t “subscribe” mean “hello” instead of “goodbye”??? Confused...😳
An eaqual amount of computer to a 6-12 year old child would only one or one and a half of hour
OK this is not even funny Mom and Dad get a grip on your own child. You control what this toddler watches.
Yeah...and then everyone clapped. And the kid's name? Albert Einstein.
You let a 2 year old screw around with a computer, you're gonna get a busted computer.
My granddaughter loves to go on youtube also. However once school started she is now only allowed on it on the weekend for a minimal time. I personally never use youtube so i dont understand that fascination with it, watching/listening to adults play with toys in their worst child voice is pretty annoying.
Lol - sounds familiar- I was in a tennis phase when my son was two-three years old- during that period when we would ask him how he was doing/how his day was, he would answer " pretty good, I played tennis!" Every. Single. Time. We still laugh about it today (he's now 16)
This is actually kinda funny though. It's either that or I'm f****d up in the brain.
You are way ahead of many respondents. Two sentences is great. What drives me batty are one word answers, such as "lies""sad""yikes"or "O dear". makes me wonder " Are you trying to say something?" Are they like a toddler, who has learned to ask "Why?" and greets each answer with "Why?". At least I know what you are saying, but I have been screwed in the brain for 64 years now.
Load More Replies...My kid was playing and I heard her ask a question and say "Comment your answer below". She apparently watches too much YouTube also.
Rather depends on how old your child is - and as long as you monitor what she watches on YouTube. Children will not always be able to a) tell what is okay and b) do as they are told! I remember being told a book was too old for me. Of course I read it in secret. Children keep far more secrets then their parents realise.

Load More Replies...Ok, I've seen a lot of comments on this post about how "America is the worst country". You think we LIKE having mass shootings every two minutes? You think we like having a president who puts immigrant kids in concentration camps? You think we like leading the charts in obesity? No. We don't especially like any of that. So please stop acting like the entirety of America is shooting each other in the head. Because we aren't. Only a few are.
If you don't like the state of things in the USA, get off your a*s and make sure that you are registered to vote. If not, go register! Do your homework on candidates, and cast an informed ballot in November. If you don't vote, you don't count.

These are just awful. I guess an up vote means they are awful-er than the others. But I wanted to down vote them. So sad.
I bookmarked this under Republicans. If you don't agree, please reconsider what Republican values, and their political platform really supports. Forgive me for stating the obvious, (to most readers I hope), but virtually everything they do is in support of big business, nothing more nothing less.

I hear and read americans complains about their country, but I've been there once 10 years ago. It's a wonderful country. It have some problems but if i look at the big picture, USA is a huge amazing place where everything is possible. Americans that complain about this country, please come to live in my country for a while and then tell me what do you think about USA.
People complained when Obama was president, was that a fashion?
