Some people love books, while other get put to sleep by them. Book and Bed Tokyo, a bookstore-themed hotel located on the seventh floor of a high-rise in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro neighborhood that opens its doors on November 5th, is perfect for both. Designed by Makoto Tanijiri and Ai Yoshida of Suppose Design Office, it promises to be the best place to curl up with a good book and fall asleep.

The ‘Compact’ compartment measures 205 x 85 centimeters (80.7 x 33.5 inches), and the ‘Standard’ is 205 x 129 centimeters (80.7 x 50.8 inches); the price per evening can be 3,800 to 6,000 yen (US$32 to $50), depending on the size of accommodations. On opening day, there will be 1,700 English and Japanese language books available, but the hotel plans to eventually expand its library to 3,000.

They just need to add some free-roaming cats, and I'm there for life! :-D

Incredible idea. Amazing! :) It should be implemented in the whole world.

I love the concept, but the bunks don't look particularly comfortable or cozy. I'm guessing that they don't have problems with bed bugs there.

This idea could be modified by hotels in places where space is not quite a premium. They could build more spacious, but still small, living quarters (like studio apartments) on the "outside" of a central reading room. Also institute a "no reading in the bathrooms" policy.

Where are the bathrooms and who gets to showers first? Love the idea of books instead of tv's, but I am a proud and spoiled American, and I want my privacy. Wouldn't it be nice not to have to hear tv from the rooms above, below and next to you? Holiday Inn, are you reading this???

It certainly beats a Capadocia troglodyte bed :) Great idea - the scent of old books cannot be beat

shure. because they want couples to spend their honeymoons or anything there, where people want to read in peace and quiet.
