Trent Mitchell is an Australian photographer who's been behind the camera for over 15 years. Although he has many awards to back up his extensive portfolio, it only takes a single look at his photographs to realize that his works speak for themselves.

As an artist who lives by the sea and enjoys the living word, Mitchell loves capturing people in their element, especially if it's related to the nature around them. "I like making photographs from a new perspective and trying different techniques to create unrepeatable images. The sea is a place where I have spent a huge part of my life and it's definitely a reoccurring theme in my work" the photographer told Bored Panda.

Recently, he released a new series titles Inner Atlas focusing on the fluidity of movement of bodysurfers. "I was really trying to create something I'd never seen before with a subject I knew very well. Bodysurfing, movement, skin, flash," Mitchell explained. The series explores the idea of "the human spirit through movements of the sea in a forgotten and unfamiliar space". Every photograph highlights both, the human element and the ever-fluid movements of the sea. "This series was technically challenging as well as physically demanding too. A lot of time was spent under the waves and I took as many big wipeouts as the guys I was photographing!" he elaborated on the production.

Trent's work on Inner Atlas was captured on film too, by an Australian filmmaker Robert Sherwood. It not only explores the idea and process behind the photo series, but provides a background on Mitchell's work and creative spirit.
