Everyone thought I was weird when I gave my daughter a potty chair & "big girl undies" for her "grand finale" Christmas present. I gave it to her after letting her "notice" grown-up practices w/o ever "teaching" or pressuring her or even having to reward her...she was so excited to be "grown-up" & never had a "accident" unless we weren't near a bathroom when needed. One caveat: I never used disposable diapers. If they can't feel that wetness, they won't learn. Besides how horrible those things are for the environment.

It was common practice back then. Twas done to them, so they did it to us. Also washing mouths out with soap, sticking dogs' noses "in it" if they weren't walked in time & had an "accident", dunking pets in used motor oil for having fleas...I could go on. All these things can cause illness and even death. (Poop up the nose can cause nasty infections/death.) We learned from their mistakes. And hopefully others will learn from our posts, it's the only reason I bother.
