My New Creative Business Card Is Entirely Blank
72Kviews
I’m Dori, a 26-year-old Artist / Art Director from Toronto, Canada. I love new and original design ideas, and I’m always challenging myself to fight the “everything’s been done before” state of mind.
One of my favorite hobbies is trying to make creative business cards. You might have seen my previous business cards here on Bored Panda which were created entirely out of crayon.
This time I thought to myself: “What’s the most simple business card design you could possibly make?” And I realized it would have to be blank. But then how will people view the information? I decided that using light is a fun way to do it – especially since we all have a flashlight on our smartphones nowadays!
To complement the clever business card design, I kept the information simple – I only kept my name, since you can easily find me on Google.
When handing out the unique design card I like to give a subtle hint: “Here’s my business card. If you’re bright enough, you’ll figure it out!”
This business card idea is created with 3 layers of cardstock, with the middle layer being laser-cut. Each card takes quite a while to put together!

Eh I don't think it's the smartest idea. When your starting a business you shouldn't make it difficult for someone to contact u. Also it seems like a lot of work to put into something that someone will probably spit their gum into.
Well that's because it's not a idea for a serious bussiness card. It's a smart idea to get internet exposure. She probably doesn't even use them. Just created them to go viral on blogs like these.

She's well adapted. This is a symbol of her nutella generation: go green eating palm oil from indonesia. This gerenation is what big brands are looking for nowadays: no content, no politics, simply viral to get exposure on FB so other nutellas see it.
Thank God no politics. Nothing good comes out of two walls yelling at each other. There's enough of that nonsense as it is.
While it may not suit a business card as an idea, the idea is fun and exciting. I could see it being used for baby gender announcements, wedding proposals, larger cards like anniversaries etc, where someone sees the kind of effort that went into making something unique for them.
I love that idea!!!
Back in time it could have been awesome idea for writing love letters, you don't even have to cut the letters out, just write them with light ink, paste another sheet on top of it and safely send it to home of your loved one.
Cool idea! This is a good way to stand out and make an impression in the creative industry! I'm sure any Creative Director would appreciate these.
A creative idea for a creative field. Imagine that! What's with all the internet hater/armchair experts? "Meh". LOL (smh)

Wow wow wow wow amazing idea
Awesome idea and great execution! :oD
That is genius! 😄
Let me tell you, in the right setting this would work. OF COURSE it's not a standard business card that you hand out to potential clients randomly. A person this clever would not be that stupid. It's ludicrous to think everyone here sussed out the glitch that she didn't. But now you all know her name. And in the right setting it creates an amazing conversational piece that would show her innovation. It would work. Stop being such "well actually..." literalists....
Great concept. I'm sure in practice she doesn't just hand a prospective paying client this card, say one line, then wrap her cape over her face and disappear into a smoke bomb, you idiots.
Very clever!
now I want a business just so I can have these
Clever, good way to stand out
Very creative and fun. Might be generational as you've noticed.

Auto-promotion. Just pay for advertisement like everybody else, you cheap Polish.
No way would I be interested in contacting someone who made it difficult to contact them through a piece of paper that exists to make it easier to contact someone. There is a ton of competition in every field - they want your contact details, not a riddle. Be prepared that this may SERIOUSLY backfire on you.
You dont get it.
Elizabott - The concept alone is the card. Easy as that. Its clever and shows a different way of thinking about something that is not always approached in a creative manner. The amount of people just here who have seen it and gone to her site is probably huge. That enough?

That's the classic answer of someone who feels right but can't present an actual argument. Often the go-to line of contrarians...just sayin'. If you have an actual argument to make, I'm listening.
I like the idea, but there doesn't seem to be a point in handing out a name card. Sure I can google you, but if I take your card it is because I want to take a pic of it to have your contact details handy, then give it back because who needs that much tiny card stock?
If I got this I would never think to shine a light behind it in a darkened room. Even with the hint. Then I'd just feel stupid and hostile.
neat idea but yeah i agree with some others. the idea for a business card is for someone to know you and your work at a glance. while using light may be neat it isn't obvious.
How many business people are going to take the time to hold the cards against light just so they can get your name, phone number and business details then call you after all this ? Too arty-farty and when you need someone's services it helps for them to be memorable, but this is the wrong type of memorable.
It's cool in theory but if someone handed me a blank business card I'd just throw it away
this technique is very nice and creative, but unpractical for this particular use.
As long as you can cut the cocaine with it, it's fine.
For me it looks amazing, but you need to print something on it to make me understand the light-looking trick. If someone puts so much effort and makes such a great business card, i imagine how much effort puts in his business, so it's a deal from me.It's your image, your presentation, and your attention to details that matters while introducing yourself. With a smart business card like this, it's impossible not to be appreciated.
Form should follow function. People in the design industry should have this sentence inked on their foreheads in mirror script, so they'd read it every time they go to admire themselves in a mirror.
It's a neat gimmick, sort of like a party trick that you can only really share once with people. The work you put into the design and execution is admirable, yes, but the functionality of it as a business card is severely lacking. And unfortunately that can reflect very poorly on you, as well as your work. If you're going for form over function: nailed it. Very neat. But useful? Not as a business card. Also, using the phrase "If you're bright enough, you'll figure it out!" as a 'hint' isn't nearly as clever as it is rude. You are quite literally risking insulting people that you may want as clients. That is not a very wise business decision. Might want to go back to the drawing board. There is a reason that business cards haven't had too many drastic format changes. Because they already work.

I'm afraid I'll accidentally throw away a white card or write on it something. For example, the contacts of a new clinic

Erm no. Just no. Plus how it might come off sounding a bit smug - "if you're bright enough". That said, if it had a hint on it or something I might be intrigued to explore further. Nice idea, imperfect execution.

Weird that this card fails the entire point of a business card - CONTACT DETAILS! There's no email address or phone number on this, so what is the point?
It's only a DEMO.....
