Blackout Tattoos Are The Latest Trend in Singapore

You know how it is. You go out. You have a few beers. You get drunk. You blackout. You wake up with a very cool tattoo of Pikachu on your back. We’ve all been there. Right? No? Oh.

Well, however you ended up with an unwanted or overly unique tattoo design, the fact is that lots of people have them, and lots of people want to get rid of their inebriated state tattoo ideas. Tattoo artist Chester Lee of Oracle Tattoo Shop in Singapore knows this, and that’s why he’s come up with this unique and skillful alternative to laser removal which has earned him over 25k followers on Instagram.

Instead of removing the undesired ink, Chester adds more to cover the unwelcome pattern in order to create an extreme blackout tattoo effect. Some people are even using the technique to create black canvases for “negative” tattoo styles that then use white ink to make whole new beguiling patterns.

Take a look at the creative tattoos below to see the result for yourself. Just try not to blackout when you do.

I don't have any tattoos myself, so I don't know from personal experience, but this seems like it would be incredibly painful.

Painful is not a problem if you really want a tattoo... I have some tattoos and i like the adrenalin i got when they were made. The problem here as I see it is that the Black Will Become blue after a while and IT Will look like bruising. PS sorry for big letters and stuff, my Phone has norwegian keyboard and I get tired of correcting:)))

It looks like they're covered in soot, natural instinct is to dust em off.

I find them beautiful and elegant... but, not for me. For me a plain old tat will do.

I actually thought about doing this to cover sa stupid tat I got 25 years ago. But as it is on my upper arm I figured it would just look like a was permanently in mourning for someone or something. This is a bit extreme though..

Tats are awesome. The only thing that would make it better might be black with faux folds; to simulate fabric. Either way they're all unique and wildly compelling. I wonder if anyone has tried a color; like a blue-out.

Hey! To each their own people, WTF! I can only imagine there's something everyone of us don't like for ourselves BUT why BASH someone else's ideas? It's actually quite sophisticated looking. Not for me but it looks great on her.

Those are some seriously awesome tatts, especially considering they are literally, well, nothing except black out. Even the arm ones where the person said, "Make this arm black." Great idea for covering old ink too....... hmmmmm....

I think some of them look great...BUT this is if it was a temporary thing. I definitely would worry about the fading effect, and also when you get over this how will you remove it. Layers of skin removed?? not much alternative left. Laser would be a killer for this.

It could be better, I just feel like some of the samples aren't in their best shape just yet - with the right artist, I bet this style would be astonishing

I wasn't a fan of them until I read the comments and saw more of the excuses and reasons people give for not liking a tattoo on someone else's body they give today... They are unique to the owner and art... & lovely. Let people do what they wish with their own bodies.

That's quite dangerous, because you destroy lots of sweat glands in your skin that otherwise could get rid of poison, which now has to go through your liver. Liver damage quite possibly included.
