Share on FacebookI agree with Robert G. DuBois and Lieut Cyril Worthingstone, just because you don't want to sleep with a transgender you are not automatically transphobic.
I second that, its only a step away from saying that because you wouldn't sleep with someone of your own gender you are homophobic. That whole comic didn't clear anything up for me, it just confused the c**p out of me. I'd never even heard of nonbinary before!!! It just sounds like a ridiculous concept to me.
Load More Replies...What happened to one person liking another person? Why does it have to be so confusing?? I'm attracted to you. Your attracted to me. Yay! XX
Because some people feel more comfortable with a label, it's not obligatory or anything though
Load More Replies...I'm transgender and identify myself as bi or pansexual if asked (usually bisexual because more people seem to immediately understand it). I don't think the information presented here is necessarily bad, BUT I think she was very needlessly patronizing, as though people who don't know these things are either stupid or trying to offend you when they could honestly just not know any "out" LGBT+ people so they're not in the loop when it comes to terminology.
I got the feeling this comic was more meant to be read by other congenial LGBT-people, not to teach anything for those that are unfamiliar with the terms, even if it's presented like that.
Load More Replies...I still don't get it, but I will call you whatever you want me to, and you can do whatever you want with your genitalia as long as it is legal and consensual.
That's a good reaction. I don't think this comment is the best introduction considering she sounds patronizing as all hell.
Load More Replies...This girl just said that there is no such thing as someone who likes only "standard issue" men + "standard issue" women. If you are bi, now by definition you are also attracted to all sexes, including trans? That's ridiculous, and part of the whole problem when people try to get this specific with language. I hope she eventually drops the condescending tone of her strips, especially when there's a lack of logic there.
I agree, but there's different "types" of bisexual. It's a spectrum, and some people may lean toward the more pansexual side, or the more heterosexual/homosexual side. The definition of bisexual is NOT pansexual, you're right.
Load More Replies...So she basically just admitted that there were two genders. It's on the chart or am I mistaken
People need to stop using gender in the place of sex. Sex is biological, gender is a social construct. Sexual orientations are based on sex, not gender. A bisexual person is attracted to people of either sex. Weather that includes trans people is up to each person. It's in no way transphobic not to want to include them in your dating pool. Sex is by definition an exclusionary activity. A person's boundaries regarding their sexual life are not up to debate. They are innate, they can't be labeled as -phobic or unlearned.
I agree with a person's sexual preferences having nothing to do with them discriminating, however I disagree that "sexual orientations are based on sex, not gender" because sexual orientation isn't binary and sometimes people are attracted "masculine" or "feminine" qualities more regardless of genitals. You might not, but I know I do, and I know, for example gay men and straight women who are attracted to trans men despite the female genitalia.
Load More Replies...Wow, don't people get their knickers in a twist? How people label or identify themselves is their business, who people find sexually attractive is their business. Problem solved.
it's none of my business who you all like or what you all like. the only 'label' you should ever go by is your name. the rest isn't what you are it's who you are.
While I deeply love this comic... let's all remember that each person is allowed to make their own identity for themselves. If you don't know, just ask the person! Love to all!
This is more complicated than it needs to be. I'm Bi, I would date a trans man, but i'm not sure I would date a trans woman. Does that make me trans-woman misogynistic? If I did date a trans man then wouldn't that make me pansexual and not bi? Pansexual means you date all genders, but bi means you only date female-born or male-born people who identify as the gender they were born with. So, dating a trans would make me pansexual, but if i called myself ''pansexual'' then that's also transphobic because i'm not putting them into the male or female category that they identify as.
When these people hit their 30's they'll look back on this stupid s**t and cringe.
I'm nearly 40 and still pansexual, aromantic, cis-apathetic and proud!
Load More Replies...So you would not notice/care in any capacity if you met someone, assumed their gender, then got naked and leaned things weren't how you thought they were? Methinks you would. If you were expecting to go in something and then found out it's going in you instead, that's a different set of initial expectations, and a drastic one at that so it's perfectly reasonable to differentiate. If you are a lesbian and want to munch rug and find something sticking out, that's a whole different thing and it's reasonable to want to know beforehand.
Load More Replies...WAIT!!! Hang on just a freakin second!!! There are TOTALLY not enuf labels in that!!! WE NEED MORE PC LABELS!!! *hope youre picking up the sarcasm, cause Im laying it on pretty thick!*
I disagree with this comic for only one reason: Bi and pan are fundamentally different! Bi is where gender changes attraction. Being attracted to one gender is a different kind of attraction than being attracted to another gender, but you are attracted to them nonetheless. Pan means you are attracted to them regardless of gender. Gender has no role in your attraction. They are different! Pan isn't the new bi, they're just similar!
FFS just be what you want to be and screw who you want to screw, labelling everything and this sort of s**t is just "look at me" rubbish.
I don't care who does what with who. But I'll be damned if I'm going to memorize all that just to be politically correct. Do your thing, I'm fine with it but it just isn't a main topic of conversation with me.
I'm glad I grew up in the 80's when things were simpler. Straight, gay, or bi were all I had heard of and it was simple. I know it didn't represent everyone but it was easier to handle.
It's not that tough when you're actually just going through life and not trying to categorize people beforehand.
Load More Replies...I'm just loving it how these days some "liberals" are telling people who they should be sexually attracted by. Transmen (just for an example, same with the ladies) are as much men as those who were born that way, just not in a physical way. It's literally the definition of trans, and it's not transphobic not to be sexually interested in transpeople, because sexuality has quite a lot to do with our physical bodies too and it's a thing we can't change. Some people just don't get aroused by a male body on a female or vice versa, even if they're bisexual. That's like saying that bisexuals should be attracted by literally everybody, no exclusions. We all can still find love in our lifes, without trying to force people to get attracted by something they aren't (or blaming them for not being attracted by something).
I prefer brunettes so I guess I'm blondephobic. By these people's logic, every single pansexual should be sexually attracted to me by definition.
Load More Replies...Well, this comic was specifically about being bisexual, so I don't know why asexuals would be mentioned. I think an asexual would be the best person to make points about asexuals, as I wouldn't want to be making assumptions.
Load More Replies...i don't see why, really, why do we have to make things so complicated for everybody! it shouldn't take philosophers and mathematicians to make yourself comfortable with whom you are sexually attracted to... and it's basically nobody else's business but yours (AND your SO's)!
It's like your neither male nor female, like me!
Load More Replies...This is an amazing and necessary comic, but it just confuses me more- does someone who is bisexual like men and women, or men, women, and non binary folk? I always thought it was the first, and that pansexual was the latter, please correct me if I'm wrong.
Am I missing something? I don't see anywhere where it says you are Transphobic if you don't want to sleep with a Trans?
I think it's just that some overly-sensitive people think that. I'm trans and I just get that attraction's not necessarily logical and "not attracted to trans person" doesn't mean "transphobic".
Load More Replies...I always figured the difference between bi and pan is that a bisexual person likes both genders but wants to know what's in your pants beforehand. A pan person will just be like ok let's figure this out. I'm making that assumption as a bisexual person because although I'm attracted to both genders if you tell me your a girl I don't wanna go out with you for awhile then we sleep together and you have a surprise.
Same here. I'm getting tired of trans people trying to force their way into the dating pool of people who are not attracted to them and labeling anyone who disagrees as transphobic.
Load More Replies...Some of these comments are like: I would never date a trans person. And I'm like: what if they looked like the gender they were presenting as and also aren't you just admitting that you think the only thing that matters in your relationship is genitals?
I don't understand why do people need surgery to remove/add sexual characters. U don't like living the sterotypical roles of society it's fine really. But surgery can't change your genes. If u were born with XY OR XX , it doesn't matter what you say or do, biologically u r going to be just that. Doesn't matter how many pills or surgeries u have. Won't matter how many lies u tell yourself and other people. Besides I really think it's an insult to a perfectly good body. U can be that person without going through so much trouble.
It's simply gender dysphoria. It's a feeling where you feel uncomfortable in the body you were born as, and a way to get rid of it makes yourself feel more comfortable with yourself. I've seen FtM transgenders looking at their breast-free chest, and they would cry with happiness.
Load More Replies...The largest single category of men out there is men who are biologically born men who are sexually attracted only to women who are born women and vice-versa. This is probably at least 85 - 95% of the population to call these people bigoted is bigoted.
"Acknowledge" is spelled wrong in the third panel. It needs a "d". No, that's not all I got out of it, before you all start climbing me -- I just think if you're making a controversial statement you need to watch that stuff because it gives haters an easy target. Peace.
The arguments this topic causes make me so angry. There is no point locking horns about something that doesn't matter. It just doesn't matter! So there's two genders, so there's more than one gender. It doesn't f***ing matter! Stop arguing about it! What are you hoping to get put of it?
I personally think bi and pan are two separate things. I've heard people define pan as someone who is attracted to people regardless of gender. That's not me- I like dudes and gals because they are dudes and gals just like a straight dude or lesbian is attracted to only gals. So I identify as bi. Why is this so hard for people to wrap their heads around?

Look just... stop patting yourself on the back already. I’m trans and I just want people who can date trans people to call themselves pan so I know who I can date. That’s literally all I care about.

Load More Replies...thank you for that I was cufused myself and I'm bisexual and just came out bisexual-p...197d2c.jpg
I'm more upset that they say pan is "all" genders and the same as bi. Pan is regardless of sex or gender. The difference between bi and pan is that bi actually features gender as part of what makes them attracted to someone, whereas if you're pan, you're attracted to the person, and the sex and gender of the person is just as irrelevant as what colour their eyes are, or what type of shoe they're wearing. <3 It's like you're attracted to what makes them who they are, their soul, their heart, their chi, their energy, and it doesn't matter what shape the flesh, bone and skin is in, the attraction is something much less tangible.
They going to be some people who are going to like this comic, and that's great! But me personally, they're two genders and that's it. I'm into you and you're into me.You don't need to put a freakin' chart explaining that "Oh by the way, all ya'll homophoic for not knowing that there were nonbinary people!" I can sort of see people liking this comic but to me, it's unwanted and complete c**p and just plain confusing.
"Bisexual is cool" Proof, bisexuality is a trend among young emo kids. You never see any old bisexuals, do you?
Doesn't matter what you are, it's who you are that counts. A person can change outside appearance but deep on the inside, if they are a Richard cranium, they are a Richard cranium.
Pull your pants down... If it points out -- Male. If it points in -- Female. your "Gender" as it stands in 2018, has no bearing on your BIOLOGICAL SEXUAL CONFIGURATION
I'm bisexual, and this comic was just... confusing. I like males and females, and I also like trans males and females, and genderfluid/non binary/etc. I don't know why it needs to be explained to someone, because I should be able to like who I like with no problem.
I'm pan, and yes I really don't care what gender someone is or used to be, but I feel like this lady is a little out of touch. Yes a lot of people are fine being in and having relationships with trans men and women, and that's just fine for them, but people can decide what they wanna do with their bodies, if they don't personally feel comfortable being with a trans person that's their personal preference, it doesn't mean they're automatically transphobic. Also I feel like the whole attitude of this comic is that anyone who doesn't know about these things are idiots, based on the way she's talking to the person who seemingly doesn't know anything about bisexuality. Talking down on people or treating them like they're stupid is not the way to inform them
Why do we have to complicate everything with labels???? Why can't it just be: hey, I like you! And oh, I like you back! What is wrong with that? If you're attracted to someone, you're attracted to them. End of story. It shouldn't matter about gender.
I really like that she is trying to help people understand and be more tolerant. We need more people that are patiently willing to help others understand new perspectives. Unfortunately, I don't totally agree with her exact definitions and the way that she explains the terminology, but I think that as long as we all try our best to keep an open mind and accept people as they are, things should be okay.
No mention of Asexuality whatsoever except for an 'A' in the list. Not so informed herself. Perhaps her approach works with younger people but it does not appeal to me this slightly patronising cartoon. For better clarity I'd recommend AVEN website for what's what definition wise 😊
So, if I identify myself as a Martian, then am I really a person from Mars and if you can't respect or accept that then you are racist? WTF has this world come to? I don't care how you identify yourself or what kind of surgery or physical augmentation you get...you simply cannot cheat biology.
Well, yeah, transgender people are still technically their birth gender, and its alright to acknowledge that. It's more that they EMOTIONALLY feel like a different gender. That's the part you're supposed to respect. New world, new rules- bio gender and mental gender are different things now. It may be hard to get used to, but remember that it doesn't have to be a bad thing that something new and confusing is around.
Load More Replies...This was confusing to me as well, but I question the purpose of all these names. The only reason we classify things is to distinguish between different things and or ideas. Why should we go through all of this classification to distinguish between types of sexuality if we are just people. It seems it may just be used to exclude people because they have a different classification. Why not just stick with. I am a person. The rest of that stuff is your own business, and for most people full disclosure of your sexuality isn't something you would bring up in day to day life. And if you did you would typically be in a setting where this discussion would be among others who are already in the know.
It just seems one really only knows what they are or like themselves. It also seems that now since people are able to freely express what they think they are, feel they are, that it must have a name. I don't think it really needs a name. You are you and everyone else is they. It makes no sense to try and categorize something so complicated as sexuality and gender in a species that has the ability to express themselves on their own. Besides in the end it just works to exclude those who may not fit in to even the most complex list of classifications.
Load More Replies...Was hoping the Kori character would use "Sweet summer child" but other than that an excellent strip.
That comic makes my nose bleed. Can we just stop labelling maybe? I'm not a can of soup.
Long, tedious and only one person's take to today's labels. I really don't understand the need to try to explain to others how we label ourselves or why people get upset when someone innocently doesn't recognise or understand our own personal label. Life is complicated enough without us trying to make it more so.
Being trans is like clinical depression. It is a mental illness. It can be treated with medication. A trans person has the same mental illness as a person who believes they are a wolf. I can't go into details because i am not the right person to explain. I believe people choose to do what they want to do, a bipolar person could choose not to take their medication. People do what they want with their bodies. But our society encourages trans. So young children who see this media believe they are trans. My last statement is i hope nobody attacks anyone because of this topic. People have their own opinions. I am not transphobic by the way.
I'm transgender and this is very inaccurate. (Also tacking on "I'm not transphobic by the way doesn't help you case".) 1. You can't "teach" someone to be trans and being transgender is getting more accepted, but it's not "encouraged"! Kids seeing trans people being more accepted makes it more likely for a trans kid to come out, but they're not going to suddenly become transgender because they see trans people more often. 2. Gender dysphoria is tough to explain, but it's not the same as "believing you're a wolf". It's feeling like you look like the wrong gender. I don't know if I'd call it a mental illness, since a trans person post hormone therapy, or surgery (whatever they feel is necessary before they feel they look "like themselves") can live life without much internal stress compared to someone who has depression or bipolar disorder, etc. I'm not a psychologist, so I don't have the knowledge to categorize whether something is a mental illness or not.
Load More Replies...I'm sick and tired of these ppl shoving c**p we care nothing about down my neck. And children's necks.
It DOES have a biological basis - just look at literally anything on being transgender from the point of view of a neurologist. (See: http://sitn.hms.harvard.edu/flash/2016/gender-lines-science-transgender-identity/ for a start) People ARE born that way - that's just reality. I don't know any trans or non-binary people who are literally "making up a bunch of genders" though I've heard about it vaguely on the internet. I disagree with making up a bunch of pronouns, as we already have "they" that can be used instead of "him" or "her". Adding more could be needlessly complicated at this point. Otherwise, about the whole "I'm not interested in learning your name" bit, well, that's just you being rude and... not understanding social graces, apparently.

That's not me- I like dudes and gals because they are dudes and gals just like a straight dude or lesbian is attracted to only gals. So I identify as bi. Why is this so hard for people to wrap their heads around?
younger me: yOu cAn onLy liKE bOYs oR girLS aNd yOU cAn OnLy bE A bOy Or A girL me now: *mild sexuality and gender confusion intensifies*
Look just... stop patting yourself on the back already. I’m trans and I just want people who can date trans people to call themselves pan so I know who I can date. That’s literally all I care about.
thank you I 'm bisexual and just came out bisexual-p...f8eee9.jpg

Load More Replies...Oh no. People believe they are different genders. This will obviously destroy humanity because... reasons. Aaaagh. Be scared of people who are perfectly normal and productive other than identifying as something different than the norm, because, again, reasons.
