When Kim Davis-Robinette asked her friends and family to drive by and honk for her disabled son’s 21st birthday, she didn’t expect everything would evolve into a 90-minute parade with marching bands, dancers, and other entertainers.

Kim’s son, Matthew has a chromosome deficiency, which caused serious brain malformation, cerebral palsy, and autism. Because of Matthew’s condition and his loud voice, the family isn’t able to travel with him.

His mom said that parades are one of Matthew’s favorite things, as the guy can be as loud as he wants. “It is like Disney World for him,” Kim told FOX59. That’s why prior to her son’s birthday, Kim posted on Facebook asking people she knew to drive by and honk. The request eventually reached more than 1,500 shares, and when the big day came Matthew probably couldn’t wish for anything better.

Hundreds of people came to the party. “It was just about people showing their love. When the people see the smile on his face, they’re going to get that love right back.” Police officers, firefighters, even bikers and a marching band made their way down the street past Matthew’s house in Anderson, Indiana.

“This is something incredibly special – something you would never expect to happen,” said Chris Robinette, Matthew’s oldest brother. “I got goosebumps and I was crying a few times.”

Everything lasted more than one and a half hours, and Matthew’s mother hopes the guests enjoyed it as much as the birthday boy. “That’s what this is all about – having fun, community, loving one another and being there for each other,” she said. “He’s teaching people how to dig into their hearts and show that people are really good and they do care.”
