Guy Fills His Hands With Water To Create A Bathtub For His Bird

This European goldfinch taking a bird bath in his master’s hands is an unusual display of trust. Not only is taming a bird difficult, but researchers are still uncertain as to why birds take baths. Recent studies suggest it has something to do with feather maintenance, and that baths can make them less clumsy in flight. (h/t: twentytwowords)

The fact that it is a tattooed working man's hands makes this all the more sweet and special.

Aww that is a very cute bird, I reckon the most bird wants to use the bird bath to clean their feathers to make it more flesher for them.

Growing up, we had canaries we had bred who loved to do this. We had to be careful when they were out of their cages not to do the dishes and expose them to soap and hot water. After a while, my mother found a small dish to use (called the "bird dish" of course). They sure loved it!

I used to see lots of these little birds when I was a child. Now they're rarely seen.

Sorry, it's beautiful and very clever but this bird shouldn't be in captivity. It's a wild creature and deserves to fly! It would bathe in the wild too you know?

Why is this bird a captive in the first place? Sorry, it's behaviour that it would display in the wild - which is where it should be, not trapped in a cage!

Did you see it in a cage? I saw it Flying around him. Besides, Finches are house birds in the states, at least some breeds of them are.

What a waste of water! Could have used a saucer or a small bowl. No need to 'show off'.

cute...but wasted a lot of water on that bath....I think providing him with a little pool container or bathtub bowl would be better....
