The Way Bill Gates Explained Why He Isn’t The World’s Most Generous Philanthropist Is Brilliant
The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is the largest private foundation in the U.S, with the noble aims of enhancing healthcare and reducing extreme poverty around the world. The Microsoft founder has become synonymous with philanthropy, making a pledge to give away at least half of his vast fortune to global issues such as malaria and sanitation, issues that are often ignored by governments and other organizations.
When interviewed on Norwegian talk show Skavlan, Gates was asked by the host about the most irritating myth going around about him. Now, the cynic inside you might see his response as a bit of a ‘humblebrag,’ giving him a nice opportunity to mention the $100 billion he has given away to causes in his lifetime. But it also highlights the fact that there is much more the philanthropy than simply throwing money at a problem, it requires dedication, care, and generosity of spirit as well. Bill and his wife Melinda definitely seem to know this, and it sets them apart as philanthropists in the truest sense of the word! Scroll down to see his response in full below, and let us know what you think in the comments!

I was going to comment that. Absolutely right. BG give a part of what he has (which is very remarkable too. Some rich ppl don´t give even a cent). Anonymous ppl give everything they have.

Not all Televangelists are Christians. Some are genuinely there to just exploit people for money which is not what God wants to see. The fact is that the Bible commands Christians to be generous with their gifts so many do. And we don't think atheists are vile and do no good...

What else could he possibly do with such an insane amount of money - other than buy a couple of small countries?? Am pleased that he is using it to do good in the world. And agree that this is one businessman I would trust to run an important nation.
True! Although, it's not just the money he is giving. It's my understanding that he and Melinda do a lot of research to find where the money they give can make the best impact. And there are *definitely* other things he could be doing with his time.

His monopoly of computer operating system software made him a fortune and cost users many times that amount in lost productivity. The willful omission of useful and basic features, the incompatibility with many apps, the insistence on making entrance possible by hackers are only some of the basic liabilities we're stuck with. We used to have regulations against monopoly which should have protected us against his kind. But we're becoming an oligarchy with Gates in the front row. One controller in every industry is the object. And 2 classes, The rich and their servants.
We need both : rich people who give money, and workers on the ground who do the good with that money. Take away one of them, and the system falls apart and nobody gets help.
Well he may have given that much, but did it actually impact him in any way? No. There are others who have given much more of themselves to the betterment of humanity. The only reason he gets recognition is because he is so wealthy.
charity are rich peoples way of avoiding full taxation, if your rich you know this
Me and my friends like to call him Billygoat gates LOL. Raise your hand if you think that's so funny
What about the fact that the way he "donates" is that he gives his money to his charity and then pays his bills through that charity. This is how he pays very little to no taxes. He is essentially using his money twice. He buys items tax free via his charity that he donated his money to.
You seem to be confusing him with Donald Trump, who did exactly that. The Bill and Melinda Gates foundation publishes their financials: https://www.gatesfoundation.org/Who-We-Are/General-Information/Financials While Donald Trump was forced to shut down his "charity" due to misuse of funds: https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-46611178

(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bill_%26_Melinda_Gates_Foundation#Funds_for_grants_in_developing_countries). Besides, lots of billionaires give nothing away; most people don't give that high of a ratio of their own money away. I sure don't, and I doubt you do either.
