Bicycle-Mounted Device Projects Signals On Cyclists’ Backs
A mounted device that projects signals on cyclists’ backs might soon improve the relationship between road-users of every sort. Conceived by Azerbaijani designer Elnur Babayev, the Cyclee will display different illuminated signs depending on the rider’s actions. The projected images can be modified on mobile devices and transferred to the projector, which then displays the appropriate signal on the cyclist’s back.
Accident rates per kilometer are 26 to 48 times higher for bikes than for automobiles, and in bike-car accidents, the motorists are usually at fault. Countries that have invested the most in cycling infrastructure, despite having more cyclists, tend to have the lowest rates of cycling mortality.

Share on FacebookI think this is a great idea. This device could be useful for motorbike riders as well.
I was about to write this when I saw your comment. And you have such a nice name too :))
Load More Replies...Think about your experiences with projector technology. Imagine it powered by a small battery and projected onto clothing. It should be obvious that when used outdoors, the image will only be visible in darkness, and will be far less bright when viewed from behind than a properly aimed LED tail lamp, which has been left off of the bicycle in the photo. Good, conventional bicycle lamps are rarely included in photos of novelty bicycle lighting products because they reveal how very badly the novelty lighting performs compared to conventional lighting. These products are designed to be sold to a public that is ignorant about the use and effectiveness of quality conventional front and rear bicycle lamps.

Have they thought about people with backpacks? Or with kids sitting on the back of the bike? and how do those signs know when to appear. unless you have your phone in your hands to put the sign up. But that's pretty dangerous. and what if it rains? What about those who don't see the back of the person but the side/front? What if there's something on the back of the shirt like words or an image? What if you're wearing an orange/red shirt?
there will be drivers that will not understand what is all about. anyway its a good idea.
i think thats a really great idea! it will hopefully save some trips to the hospital. HI five!
Theft. ...too bad because its a beauty of an idea!. Now something to stop people from "dooring "folks.
