And of course, no one's here to judge you, after all, it's a dog eat dog world so everyone deserves to do a little something to help themselves. But when you think about it, how do you separate an innocent white lie and legit nasty lie? Well, this series of tweets about people lying for personal gain will show you how far people will go in order to get what they want, and honestly, you can't really blame them, some even managed to get married to the love of their life just by fudging the truth a bit.

My dad used to do this on nature walks. Found out years later that the 'lesser spotted throat warbler' was a thrush.

That reminds me of this 6 year old kid in our neighborhood. He saw a banana and said he didn't know what it was, so we let him eat one. It turned out he didn't know what any fruit was so we were always giving him some. We thought we were doing him a huge favor. Got talking to his mom one day who laughed and said he would say anything to get food and he was familiar with all kinds of fruit! We were so taken for a ride!

Yeah.... maybe if she fessed up to the lie before very long I could accept that, but if she kept it from him more than a couple of weeks that just ain't cool. If someone did that to me and I found out about it, I'd run for the hills.

And you didn't tell him? And you call him a "friend"? That's not very friendly from you. Look, I get lying/ cheating on tests in schools or fibbing a bit on a resume or a job interview. But lying to SOs about imaginary dates or amnesia crosses a line for me.

Isn't that a movie with Sandra Bullock? Only she then fell in love with his brother and got married to him instead.

Was your friend, perhaps, in the movie “While You Were Sleeping”? And was the girl Sandra Bullock?

This seems to refer to TV and movie Amnesia which isn't accurate. Real Amnesia stops you from being able to create new short term memories, so i'd guess this is fake.

That's called antegrade amnesia and it only applies to short-term memory. Retrograde amnesia is when a person can't recall past memories. Both are known to fade over time and the person usually starts to recall things or make new memories after a short period of time. It's very rare for either to stick. I completely agree that this story is fake though.

How do you know for sure that they had only hooked up once, and that the relationship was not more serious than he had told his friends? Friends do not tell each other everything. And sometimes, if you are unsure, inexperienced/immature or embarrased (or your friends are immature enough to make you think having feelings is embarrasing or insecure about how a girl would affect your friendship, so they would talk you out of it) you tell your friends the opposite of what you feel/what you think that they want to hear...

lol, we did that to a guy in our class on a ski trip. He was a handsome type and all the girls wanted a bit of him. Anyway, he had an accident (nothing serious but with amnesia) and we told him that this not so hot girl was his gf. she played her part and our friend was pretty confused for a while :D

Real Amnesia affects your ability to create new short term memories, it doesn't just wipe your memory and allow you to slowly regain them; that's just a plot device.

I'm not 100% certain, but I don't think amnesia affects whether or not people fall in love. They may have had only one hook up before his accident, but if she became a doting girlfriend after he lost his memory, the guy could have fallen for her. Although, were he ever to regain his memories, if he hasn't already, it could backfire.

How could you invent Jewish holidays? I mean, there's a calendar. You had a Jewish professor? College staff are really that stupid?
