People Are Sharing The Things That Dads Do But Nobody Knows Why, And They’re Spot-On (30 Tweets)
There are many things we humans still haven't figured out. Like, what came before the big bang, will AI eventually overtake us, and why do all dads grunt when they sit down. Or why they take grilling so seriously. In fact, there are probably more mysteries about dads than the universe. To try and get to the bottom of them, people have started Tweeting them, and the questions perfectly describe every dad in the history of dadness. The sad part, however, is that even with all that attention, most of them remain unanswered. Science is one way we make sense of the world around us, but it appears that even rationality can't explain everything.

Because they do not want some fancy s**t. They ask what they need.
Well I'm not a dad but I do take grilling or any kind of meat cooking seriously. I mean the animal had to die so you can eat it, the least you can do to respect that, is being really focused on making it really delicious :D
Silence? Si-lence? Si....lence? Yes, I think I've heard of that.
Load More Replies...It's a distraction. In a parking lot there are pedestrians. I want to hear what's around me.
There's nothing more relaxing than a scraping sound your bumper does when squeezing between two other cars.
Empty parking stalls make a sound only dads can hear....they're like dog whistles to dogs. This is true. We have to turn down the radio not only to hone in on the empty stalls, but also because if there are too many empty stalls around the noise intensifies and the radio can be quite distracting/overwhelming.
We are listening to the direction of the sound of engine starting, which is a sign of people leaving and an available parking spot coming up.
wait...isn´t that said to women? Because we have to hear what we are seeing? :-D
It's too loud to see clearly. Same goes with looking for house numbers at night.
Maybe if my step dad does that he'd drive better and park straight
I do it even on complicated cross roads, not just parking... It's the logic 'I turn it down to see better' and works for many people :D
we all do it, when we need to focus we turn down the sounds to focus on the surroundings...
I do that and I’m a mom and grandma. I do it because I’ve usually got heavy music playing loud enough to damage ear drums and I turn it down when I need to concentrate.
Improves our vision. And we can hear an engine starting from over a mile away, so we know where to find a spot.
Because your brain can only handle a certain amount of distraction, so when you need to focus (say on finding a parking spot), you turn off everything (like the radio) that will distract you from what you want to focus on.
I'm not a dad, but I've done that. The music competes w/ the part of the brain that needs to focus on certain things...some of us can't hear ourselves think w/ the radio playing. It's about isolating stimuli. Relatedly, I remember being able to write essays while listening to music that was instrumental or in another language I didn't understand, but not if it were sung in English. It was like listening to two people talk at once (the song & me talking in my head)...a complete cacaphony. On the other hand, I was able to do my math homework with ANY kind of music on, since it uses another part of the brain for processing.
It’s like prelanding check list. Getting ready to deplane as soon as he finds a spot! And they hate when they start up the car and the radio blares (or AC blowing) You need to listen to the purr of your engine.
I learned that in drivers ed class...oh wait, you don’t get drivers ed class anymore.
because it is respectful to not blast your music in the parking lot/ intersection
Dumb question. Answer - Easier to get out, easier to load/ unload the trunk when it isn't facing traffic, Dads don't see it as a special showy thing, just an obvious thing to do.
The mirrors and seat clearly need to be adjusted, because the car is so badly parked they need to move it.

Dad joke: What do you call an elephant that doesn't matter? An irrelephant
What do you call a cross between an elephant and a rhino? EllifIknow! (you may have to say it out loud to get it).

The transition is a slow one...my husband has been a dad for three years now, he is between the "yello" and "will fall asleep as soon as he touches a sofa" stages....he hasn't morphed into the "free mints" or "loud sneeze" stages just yet...but I know its coming!
Load More Replies...This post was great JUST because of the quick witted comebacks everyone posted underneath them. Well played everyone.
I don 't know about all of these but I miss my dad so much :(
I love how this entire post's comments were dads justifying why they did said stuff 😂
Some of these are really fun, but some are just being stereotypical, or don't make sense.
I wish they would stop shortening the posts! Some of the ones they deleted were pretty funny!

Load More Replies...Half of these remind me of my dad, some of the others remind me of me. Lol
Wow, L. W., daddy issues or what? This was supposed to be a humorous thread.
There are some really dumb questions in this thread.. why do kids always ask dumb questions instead of thinking?
Why did people feel obligated to provide answers? I was hoping for funny examples/experiences but instead got smart alecks
so i am a dad of 2 girls and i just read all of these tweets and i dont do any of them at all..none of them. Does that make me weird?
I enjoyed reading the comments on BP to the postings much more than the postings themselves!
Feel more like why are those people asking stupid questions about very relevant things dads do...
