There are many things we humans still haven't figured out. Like, what came before the big bang, will AI eventually overtake us, and why do all dads grunt when they sit down. Or why they take grilling so seriously. In fact, there are probably more mysteries about dads than the universe. To try and get to the bottom of them, people have started Tweeting them, and the questions perfectly describe every dad in the history of dadness. The sad part, however, is that even with all that attention, most of them remain unanswered. Science is one way we make sense of the world around us, but it appears that even rationality can't explain everything.

Well I'm not a dad but I do take grilling or any kind of meat cooking seriously. I mean the animal had to die so you can eat it, the least you can do to respect that, is being really focused on making it really delicious :D

I never thought about meat that way, but that is a quite reasonable, deep concept.

46 year old female here. I’ve been grilling since I was 10. No man gets near my grills without permission. I’ve asked for advice and observed 1 male family Member I trust. A lot of people think they have better skills than they actually do. There’s a few people with shows I will actually trust.

My dad built a very ugly and badly functioning grill and he also can't cook. So everytime I visit my parents at summer my dad grills some sausages that are half burned, half cold and taste like the charcoal lighter fluid. :D So there has to be some sort of 'magic' why most dads needs to grill.

They are basically pyromaniacs. Pops was drying a pot on the stove and the whole bottom fell off. I never let him near my pots or pans again. Knives weren't any safer. Those giant staples on furniture pallets wreak havoc on a good knife. Miss the old poop.

The simple answer to that is "because they are dads" which means they have children. Children are very choosy about their food, so it has to be cooked perfectly and responsibly. Also, most wives won't be bothered to get themselves and their clothes and hair smoked, so it becomes the dad's job to fulfill. And finally it's an activity that calms you, let's you drink along with the cooking and makes you feel a family hero afterwards. Guess someone has to become a dad to understand that.

Grilling is serious business in my husband's family. They consider it disrespectful to the cook and the meat if you put any kind of sauce on your grilled steak. To my husband's and FIL's credit, they are very good BBQers though!

Dumb question. Answer - Easier to get out, easier to load/ unload the trunk when it isn't facing traffic, Dads don't see it as a special showy thing, just an obvious thing to do.
