"Grandma And The Bride" Photo By Julio Rodriguez
It's as if Grandma is looking back on her own wedding day. The mirror is a time machine into her memory
More than 120 photographers sent pictures from 10 countries and 5 continents this time! And out of over 1300 pictures, only a small part received an award (less than 10%). That just means that the competition was fierce, and the winners really earned their trophies.
But let's focus on the positive side, shall we? We can enjoy some really unique moments, filled with emotion, great light, and perfect composition. The bride and the groom are the stars of the show, of course, but we can also find friends, family, and many other elements that make these pictures truly special. It's just LIFE, after all! And we love capturing it in all its beauty and chaos.

no reason to be "fair" this is a great moment captured. Period.

At #6, first one I don't hate. (I probably should be careful, since they will re-sort based on BP reactions. Might be that I'd love the eventual top 5.) In fact, it's pretty awesome: captures the REAL wedding prep, shows off the friends, genuinely emotional... UPDATE: Only 1 of the current top 5 is truly bad.
Bored Panda has reached out to the author of the post, Martino Buzzi, who is also the director of the FdB Awards. Firstly we wanted him to remind us of the criteria and factors being considered while choosing the winners of the competition. Martino told us: “The photos are evaluated by three international judges following three criteria: Technical execution, artistic component, and emotional impact. The technical criteria are all about taking a perfect image, well focused and exposed with the right amount of definition. The artistic criteria is composition, light, and the ability to use photographic language to communicate with the viewer. The emotional impact is about how much emotion there is in the photo.”

It's a dove, not a pigeon. And it was most likely released as part of the ceremony...
doves used in wedding ceremonies are actually homing pigeons.

Some additional information that may be helpful to understand the judging process of photography competitions is that judges may also consider the originality and creativity of the photo, as well as its relevance to the competition's theme or category.”

"Shall I Bring An Umbrella, Sweetie?"... Photo By Gaetano Pipitone
“Overall, participating in a photography competition can be a great way to showcase your skills and gain recognition in the photography community. Just remember to carefully review the competition rules and criteria before submitting your work, and don't be discouraged if you don't win. There's always room for improvement and growth as a photographer.”

"We Love To Be Classic" Photo By Isma Sanchez
Next, Martino told us more about new trends in wedding photography he observed: “We are seeing some really good images in the last few years in wedding photography. Some new trends are photojournalism, vintage photo style, and elegant vertical Instagram-style images. As wedding photography has evolved over the years, there have been numerous trends that have come and gone. However, in recent years, some of the most popular styles have emerged."

"Wet Bride, Lucky Bride!" Photo By Pietro Sorano
Martino wanted to tell us a little bit more about each one of the current trends, starting with photojournalism. He said: “Photojournalism has become increasingly popular in wedding photography. This style is all about capturing candid, spontaneous moments as they happen, rather than staging shots. It allows the photographer to tell the story of the wedding day in a way that feels authentic and natural.
Vintage photo style has also been a trend in recent years. This style often involves using filters and editing techniques to create a nostalgic, timeless feel to the photos. It can be a great option for couples who want a classic, romantic look to their wedding photos.
Elegant vertical Instagram-style images have become increasingly popular as well. These images are typically shot in a portrait orientation, which is perfect for sharing on social media platforms like Instagram. They often feature the bride and groom in a stylish, modern pose, with a focus on the details and setting of the wedding.
Overall, the wedding photography trends of recent years have brought a lot of creativity and excitement to the industry. Whether you prefer a classic or more modern style, there is sure to be a photographer out there who can capture your special day in a way that feels perfect for you.”
"Loving The Moment" Picture By Fran Ortiz
Liz, How is this 'anything but art'? Anybody properly trained in basic understanding knows this kind of thing is hugely open to interpretation! It looks like something you might like or something you may not, as we’re all entitled to our own optinions and art is subjective. might look like an he’s trying to steal a pair of plucked ostrich legs, could be that the photographer is playing with scale, exaggeration, and humor. This is all kinds of up to the viewer (and the happy couple paying for the photos)…
"Quick, Kiss Me... Before He Wakes Up!" Photo By Carmelo Ucchino
This is cute, but when I saw this in the thumbnail I immediately thought HOT CAR
We were very curious if there was any specific photo that caught Martino’s attention in this round of the competition. He revealed that, indeed, there was a shot that he really liked: “One of my favorite photos in this round is one of a bride seen in a mirror together with a girl and an older woman (her mother, maybe). This photo by Alberto Ramirez got an award and is one of my favorites in this round. The image looks like it was taken in a movie, the colors and the expression of the bride are just amazing. But of course, there are many other ones I like.”

Liz Reece, or Karen seems more appropriate, you need to find another outlet for your negative vibes, instead of spewing them out around you. Yuck.
Sounds like Liz Reece is basically a miserable person an wants to share that misery with the world. Art is subjective. Chill out Liz. Eventually someone is going to take a picture of you that you love and then somebody else will tell you what a terrible picture it is. Karma, karma, karma.
Can you guys just shut up? Yes, I know Liz Reece is getting an heck lot annoying, but it’s a free country and she’s not being verbally abusive, just giving her opinion on things. So what if she seems to be hating on everything? For all we know, she’s having a bad day (which is another story we must respect, just like the ones in the beautiful photos), or maybe her actual option is that she dislikes them. If you think you’re entitled to call her out, she’s just as entitled to voice herself. Just chill out and don’t give unnecessary things this kind of attention.
Upvoting to cancel your downvote because you do not deserve it at all

I agree, she looks more shocked or terrified but it couldve just been the timing
Load More Replies...Then we wanted to know if traditional wedding photography is still as popular as it used to be, or maybe nowadays couples tend to choose some alternative options. Martino said: “As more and more couples opt for unique wedding experiences, traditional wedding photography is no longer the only option available. Modern photography styles are changing the wedding photography scene. The brides are looking to have some unique images to remember their big day and so traditional wedding photo is no longer an option if you want to show you are a modern and unique bride.”
"Girls, Don't Run On The Stairs!" Photo By Marnix De Stigter
Liz Reece- I think you misunderstood... I took it as- they had been running, were told not to, then did this, to be funny? Like the complete opposite of running?? You sounded seriously upset by the name of this post, which is silly...
Yes, this is the right interpretation. The post name tried to be funny but not everyone understands humor :-)
Load More Replies...Wow! I know everyone is entitled to their own opinion but really Liz? Is there anything, anywhere, that you don't complain about?
Ok, now you’re being really toxic Liz. I defended you for having an opinion, and I still stand by it because that’s your right, but try to relax. It’s just a photo, and while you are entitled to like or dislike it, but why so aggressively? if you can, it’s better not to put this kind of negativity into the universe. This goes for everyone, especially those who think they’re the only ones entitled to an opinion. Agree to disagree and stop taking the focus away from the photos.
WOW Liz, I think it’s what Kristi said, they had been running but did this to be funny when told to stop, you need to calm down
Liz Reece, did someone fart on your birthday cake or something you sour witch
Ik she’s getting super annoying, but everyone else constantly focusing on a “troll” is annoying too. And if you think that you can verbally abuse people when they haven't done anything to you personally, maybe it’s time to look in the mirror.

I’m surprised Liz didn’t have a comment for this one, at this point I’m kind of watching the comments section closer than the pictures
Just another day, another troll trying to get a rise out of people. Their kryptonite is being ignored.

He told us: “For the photographers who are thinking about submitting photos to the next round, I would recommend choosing your favorite pictures, keeping in mind the judges are looking at more than 1000 photos and your image must have something different and unique and should grab the judges' attention. Editing is really important in this sense. Black and white work quite well if you have a strong composition. Try to avoid classical images.”
"Riding The Wedding Day" Photo By Rocio Sanchez
I think Liz must have had a bad wedding day, or maybe she's mad that she never had one. I don't know but I've never seen someone be so negative about someone's happiest day of their lives.
"Three Generations" Photo By Alberto Ramirez
Lastly, Martino wanted to share with Bored Panda readers that: “I am now working together with some of the most experienced photographers in our group to offer photo critiques: we encourage photographers to submit their photos to receive a sincere critique from other colleagues. This process is very useful to correct errors and understand another point of view. These critiques are a great way to improve creativity.”

All the negative Nancy's need to get a doughnut and hot cocoa. Hard to be sad or mad when you got those!
Use this comment as a button for Liz Reece where every time she types a word we yell at her to shut up.
What's with all the hateful comments? Did someone sh*t in everyone's morning coffee?
I think Liz must be bitter cos she's a s**t photographer. I graduated art college with distinctions, this included a course in photography. I can assure you all that these pictures are in fact, wonderful. Liz is just a jealous old hag, probably, who can't get any work on account of how much of a miserable person she is.
I congratulate you for saying what most of us were thinking 👏👏👏(this is not sarcasm)
