Having deep empathy for others, understanding what they’re going through, and giving them the support that they need is what sets apart a caring person from someone who might be more interested in their own gain. It’s the same no matter if we’re part of the 1% or living from paycheck to paycheck.

Celebrities and the rich are no different from us when it comes to questions of altruism. You have your deeply caring stars like Keanu Reeves and Tom Hanks on one side of the spectrum and slightly less empathetic public figures on the other end. Sometimes, though, people become so fed up with just how out-of-touch some celebs and the rich are with reality, they can’t help but call them out on social media.

Bored Panda has compiled this list of the most brazen examples of the rich and stars getting called out for their behavior to show you that wealth and prestige can’t always buy you a heart. Upvote the posts that you agree with and let us know who you personally find to be the kindest vs. most out-of-touch celebs out there, dear Pandas.

To be fair, though, nobody’s saying that all rich people are 'evil' or that all celebs are egoistic. Most are decent human beings. There just happens to be a handful who aren’t as friendly and philanthropic as their fans would like. I reached out to have a chat about out-of-touch celebrities with entertainment expert Mike Sington, from LA. Mike told Bored Panda that one thing that stars should keep in mind if they want to be more relatable is to avoid showing off their riches.

"If celebrities want to be more in touch with their fans, don’t flaunt your wealth! We know you’re often wealthy, but it does nothing for our self-esteem to see constant photos of the material goods you possess, your huge houses, or exotic vacations," he said. You'll find my full interview with Mike below.

Exactly, how is a poor person going to invest their money if they need it for food and shelter

Celebrity expert Mike noted that it's up to the wealthy to decide how much they want to help others. "You’ll find the wealthiest are often giving much of their money away because they want to, and they truly care. It’s something you don’t often hear about, because they’re doing it with the best intentions, not to impress others or promote themselves," he explained to Bored Panda that the reality is different from what we presume.

What's more, despite these positive acts of philanthropy, the rich often get blamed for 'not doing enough' and supposedly 'hoarding' their wealth. "People often focus on the negatives with well-known people, because it provides them with entertainment to knock someone down. I believe there’s often jealousy involved, too. It’s usually more unaccomplished people, hiding behind a screen, that look at taking down a celebrity as 'sport,' Mike said.

Celebrity, pop culture, and entertainment expert Mike previously told me all about what stars are really like when you meet them in person. He’s met hundreds of stars during his career in Hollywood that has spanned decades, and he found that the vast majority of celebs are friendly, gracious, and kind.

“Don’t be afraid to meet a celebrity! The majority are smart business people, and they realize their fans who watch their TV shows, stream their music, and buy tickets to movies and concerts, are paying their salaries. They want to be nice to you!” Mike told Bored Panda earlier that there’s a practical aspect to being nice to everyone as well. Though most stars are truly genuine.

Capitalist Scumbag Thinks He's A Socialist

elonmusk Report

“In my experience, the one constant I’ve noticed is the bigger the star, the nicer the celebrity. The established stars have it down and understand the importance of the celebrity/fan relationship,” the expert explained.

Usually, the biggest troublemakers and mavericks are those who are new to the scene and to their popularity. “You usually only have a problem with the newer, up-and-coming stars. They at times don’t get it and may think they’re too good to interact with you. This attitude often backfires, and they realize if they want longevity, it’s actually not that hard to be nice.”

Hollywood’s Ultimate Insider Mike added that celebrities always have to be aware of how they act. They’re _always_ in the public eye, even when they think they’re not. Because nearly everyone has a smartphone in their pocket, stars need to be more aware of the fact that they’re always ‘on display’ than ever.

“It does take some conscious effort on the celebrity’s part to be nice, just knowing every interaction, and everything they’re doing in public can be recorded. For some celebrities, in fact, I’d say most celebrities, being nice comes naturally. It doesn’t take any special effort, because it’s who they are as a person,” Mike said.

And that's what it is. They're simply afraid that someone somewhere who they don't believe is worthy will get something they "don't deserve". Selfish, hateful people like this will screw themselves every way imaginable if they think someone they don't like will get punished somehow in the process.

Here's how I explain to people who think socialized medicine is "expensive". Let's say a homeless guy gets a toothache. He can't go to a dentist and an ER isn't going to do anything for him. All he needs is the tooth pulled or a filling - both are inexpensive procedures. But he can't get it done because he's uninsured. Eventually it turns into a medical emergency and he ends up admitted at a hospital for a week or two. It ends up costing tax-payers $60,000. If he had access to healthcare he could have gone to the dentist and the cost to tax-payers would have been $100 (at socialized medicine prices, not commercial insurance prices). The bottom line is that insuring everyone costs a lot less than what we're doing now which is insuring a lot fewer people.

It's perfectly possible to take out private health insurance in the UK if you want to. One doesn't negate the other. And doctors have the right enshrined in law that they can work privately as well as for the NHS if they want to.

Not to mention that the premium amount you pay out of your paycheck is the same flat fee the CEO of your company would pay, as opposed to a national health, where the deductible is a percentage of your taxes, and therefore way more equitable. To illustrate: with the present system of employer provided health insurance, the janitor making $7.75/hour would pay the same flat fee as the CEO making 775.00/hour. As opposed to, for instance, both paying 1% of their salary to pay for national health—-meaning the $7.75/hour janitor would pay 7.75 cents/hour for his insurance, while the CEO would pay $7.75/hour, the same as the janitor’s full hourly salary, for his insurance. The CEO makes 100 times what the janitor makes, so why should he be paying the same flat fee as the janitor? Additionally, if the CEO is pissed off at having to pay that rate for national health and end up sharing a hospital room, he can always opt to pay full price, without any insurance, for private care, and get a private room.

Insurance is the problem, not the solution. It's a scam and always has been. I've been working in medical (psych) for years and would take Medicare over every single commercial insurance I've seen. In fact, I'm only a few years from it now and really looking forward to being able to get it and dump the s**t I have now.

Australia has Medicare, If you need to go to hospital, even if you have no money or insurance, Hospital is free. If you have Private Health insurance, There is still NO over the top costs. You can have a baby without paying $52K as was last reported. NO COST. 3% of your wage goes into paying Medicare. No out of pocket expenses not matter which public hospital you attend, and they will NOT toss you out on the street for not having Private Insurance. At least it works here in Australia.

You can have both, government funded healthcare for all and you also have private health insurance if you can afford it. This way the wealthy can go to private hospitals, pick their surgeons etc. and those that can’t afford insurance get medical support for free when needed. It’s a win win.

Private health care does just fine in the UK. In 2018, Brits spend around £34.5B (yes BILLION). When you take into account the population was 66.27m, I'd say that it's doing pretty well actually.

Americans, don't worry. Here in Poland we have public insurance, and it does work, of sorts, but still there are private insurance plans in addition to that and they are doing well. Usually provided as fringe benefits by some employers, they are popular because they offer more speedy and convenient service with more options and less bureaucracy than public healthcare.

UK still have private insurance even though we have the NHS. Unfortunately at £100 a month for my family, I can't really justify that on the off chance we may get ill when the NHS is already being paid for with our taxes and available. Would be nice if the NHS was means tested at least to an extent, but mostly I just hate the way the "management" of hospitals get paid so much for doing such a bad job, and some of the stupid operations paid for by the NHS that are lifestyle or cosmetic rather than medical need.
