The German City Of Karlsruhe Just Issued A Parking Ticket To A Bent Car Sculpture By Austrian Artist Erwin Wurm

An illegally parked art installation in Karlsruhe, Germany was ticketed for 30 euro last week. The bent red Mercedes MB100D truck is the work of Austrian artist Erwin Wurm, who is famous for his distorted-vehicle pieces. It was created as part of the city’s 300th birthday celebrations, and is distorted to show the “mundane from a different perspective.”

Erwin Wurm was born in 1954 and lives in Vienna and Liberg, Austria. In the book “The Artist Who Swallowed The World” by Hatje Cantz, Wurm is quoted as saying “I am interested in the everyday life. All the materials that surrounded me could be useful, as well as the objects, topics involved in contemporary society. My work speaks about the whole entity of a human being: the physical, the spiritual, the psychological and the political.”

I think the parking ticket says more about humanity than the bent truck.

Judging by the last image in the series, was the registration of the truck expired?

More like the police officer who wrote the ticket was half asleep and didn't mind much that this was a sculpture.

To be fair it is in the way of the pavement. I guess it's only going to be there for a short time, in which case it would be ok.

might wanna educate yourself first.. since Europe isn't a country and as one might guess, not all countries have the same rules. Especially when it comes to tickets. Besides that you would go crying home after one stop at the gas station.
