With the creation of Photoshop in 1987, our lives suddenly changed - you could turn virtually any "ugly duckling" into a beautiful swan. When used with caution and in modesty, Photoshop can be a useful tool for enhancing our natural beauty and giving a self-esteem boost.
We often see photos of celebrities that look so flawless, it's hard to believe they're even real. Before you start comparing yourselves to them, keep in mind that their photos are usually the case of being photoshopped excessively. So don't worry, nobody looks like photoshop pictures in real life.
Celebrity photoshop takes it to another dimension by also setting unrealistic beauty standards to their young followers. Though sometimes, with a touch from an inexperienced editor, it can turn into an example of bad photoshop quite easily.
Below, Bored Panda had put together a list of celebrity photoshop fails and pics before and after the modifications - some of them were very scandalous, while others were simply photoshopped by people on the Internet. Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Kim Kardashian - they're all there. Prepare to be shocked!

"Celebrities Before And After Photoshop Who Set Unrealistic Beauty Standards" Yes. Correct. Angelina sets unrealistic beauty standards. Both with and without photoshop :-)

I disagree, The problem is not her body, it's the who idiot decided to put her in that suit. It's completely wrong for her body type.
Load More Replies...First pic was the one used in magazine about body positity/versatily. Second one is probably some jerk fooling around, not what the magazine put out...
They slimmed down the plus sized model? Wtf is the point of plus size if you knock it down to medium size?
To clarify what I mean I probably should add ...when they're going to remove her curves anyway?
Load More Replies...WTH? They made her almost half her size! No wonder we have unrealistic standards of beauty.
The original pic is better. She is so beautiful. The photoshopped made her look plain...
The pose isn`t very attractive . If her body was photographed in a more appealing pose Photoshop would n`t be necessary anyway!
I wish I could try to understand the people who edit in this way. Whats their idea of beautiful? Who is telling them what is beautiful? Modeling is an art, what makes art beautiful, and everything else in the world beautiful — is authenticity. Will they ever understand that...
I no doubt prefer the first one. She looks like a hot goddess in the first one and a bit lifeless and plasticky in the second one(still hot).
First picture is much more beautiful! So sick of people looking the same game, beauty is in the uniqueness!!
you should accept that in real life there might be a bit of rolls around his waist and a paunch has never killed anyone
So... why are people demonized when they look petite and slender? Why is that being plus size is politically acceptable, whereas being petite and slender is about enabling unrealistic beauty standards. The human race has massive variance in terms of body type, one can look naturally slim and slender.
Load More Replies...Who's the idiot who thought taking her natural pinkish skin tone and turning it green, even her swimming suit, should be in another business! And I think it's odd that someone with such a thin sculptured face arms and upper body would have a completely different body type from the breasts down. It's almost as if this was photoshopped twice. She's a beautiful girl, but with a different pose and a different suit she wouldn't need to be photoshopped at all.
I'm sorry.. but her first pic is drop dead gorgeous.. there was no reason for a re-touch
I would be really insulted- If they thought she looked so bad she needed air-brushing and then some- she should not have been asked to pose! She looks great- didn't need it- talk about screwed up priorities
I think this was a photoshop tutorial. Idk f the edited photo was actually used
No Cesi, the problem (one of them anyway) is people like you deciding what a person should or shouldn't wear.
Cesi was merely pointing out the obvious. This IS a suit made for showing off the side and waist of a woman. And it's not flattering on this particular model. A different suit and a photographer who knows how to pose a woman correctly ( this pose was very awkward) would have made her look like the beautiful woman she is instead of emphasizing what most women would not want to be emphasized.
Load More Replies...It's completely messed up because she is a PLUS SIZE MODEL! She is literally supposed to be part of the solution to unrealistic body expectations! She is part of the self love/body positive movement (which lots of girls look to for examples of personal acceptance) and she is photoshopped down by half. It's the very definition of an oxymoron- 'its beautiful to be who you Are at Any size [just not with rolls, creases, love handles, dimples, or any unevenly distributed weight areas]! It's almost less attainable than normal, twig B***h, starve yourself models.
She wasn't made to look skinny. Someone decided to do a very poor job of photoshopping this model. The green tones are horrible. And the only thing taken away was the rolls of fat and the protruding belly. They should have put her in a more flattering suit for her body type and gotten rid of the pose that was equally unattractive. And used her natural coloring! A big part of using plus sized models is to show them how to dress for their body type, not to squeeze them into a suit made for a skinny girl. A big girl can look sexy and beautiful wearing clothes designed for her and the industry needs to catch up and provide attire for woman that don't wear a size 2!

She actually responded when this photo came out. She was really mad they made those changes, especially enlarging her bust, without telling her.

There's no problem with the first picture, but as a stage performer/dancer she should know how important is to hold in your belly. (Yep, there are exceptional dance stíles like belly dance...) This posture reminds me of a toddler :)

A lot of the "after" photos seem further photoshopped (from the original published) for shock value. That or the tabloid industry needs to hire better photo editors. Cheating is one thing, cheating badly is another.
Both before and after pictures have obviously been messed with. Anyone who has ever changed their pics with even a simple phone app knows that it's just as easy to make you look worse than it is to make you look better.
Happy to see I'm not the only one thinking every picture has been photoshopped, "before" and "after". What wouldn't they invent to make views... Pathetic.
Load More Replies...No one here wants to even believe the before photos....how funny is that?
To be honest, having done countless A-list celebs and models in the past, more than half of the 'befores' are totally believable. I won't name names, but you wouldn't believe what some of our beloved models and actors look like without us. And quite a few top fashion and cosmetic faces have absolutely terrible skin not unlike the Beyonce 'before'. That said, a couple of these 'befores' have definitely been worked over for effect, but don't kid yourself. Everybody at that level is heavily retouched, even if the ultimate goal is to look 100% natural. That's what we do : )
all those skin smoothing makes them seem like they are not photos but paintings why don't they just use the technic from avatar and replace all actors with cgi? I personally wouldn't know the difference anymore sometimes...
Goes to show thay miley cyrus and katy perry f*****g look amazing even without Photoshop
Wheres the REAL selves? the before photos probably went through lots of make up and surgery ;^;
I think we can all agree here that natural beauty is better than digital.
The title of this post should be 'The worst photoshops of all time!' or similar.
like it or not a lot of these standards were actually societal standards of beauty centuries before the existence of Hollywood/Bollywood/ and the International Entertainment Industry. And so therefore Cindy Joseph of the Pro-age movement will have to resist the mindset centuries/millenia of beauty history. so really these celebrities are stuck in the same cultural beauty standard that ordiary people are stuck in just to be fair to the celebrities that ordinary people view that the celebrities set. https://www.scienceofpeople.com/ideal-body-types-throughout-history/ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counterculture_of_the_1960s https://www.teenink.com/hot_topics/what_matters/article/145008/The-1960s-Youth-Movement https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Counterculture_of_the_1960s https://www.theguardian.com/culture/2015/nov/15/1966-trip-good-vibrations-pop-revolution http://intothegloss.com/2015/03/history-of-anti-aging/
may I just take a moment to applaud the man who photoshopped Kristen Stewart's mouth closed? I swear her upper must have a restraining order on her lower lip.
miley cyrus, katy perry, kristen stewart and jennifer lawrence.. don't see any difference at all
Pathetic! It's sad that all these people that ordered these changes think the woman weren't "good enough" before! It hurts their campaigns more than helps them!
I like your photo editing, good effect , But Photoshop is too hard for me to learn :) For such effects I just use apps or I send my photos to online photo retouching services like FixThePhoto

Is it really important ffs. If we were all pasteurised the world would be dull
how do we know that the pre. photo also hasn't been photo shopped? How do we know they are genuine ? Who releases these pre. photo's?

goshh.. does american people really that old instead their age? we're asian even 50 y/o our looks still young as well
I have noticed that Chinese and Japanese people don't age as fast as white people. British and American people are aging very fast these days. Men are losing hair at an earlier age than their fathers did. Most adults are overweight and obese now and that includes people aged 18 to 40. At one time only most middle aged adults were overweight or obese. The more make up women wear and the more they dye their hair the more they quicker they will ruin their face and hair.
