So that's 20 of about 400 reasons why I won't get kids.
Everyone should think about whether or not they truly want kids or not. Consider all the factors including what type of world you'll be bringing them into. Don't have kids because you just assume that's what you're supposed to do, or because people tell you its a magical experience.
Yup, this! Having kids isn't for everyone and that's okay. Kids can be very stressful. My husband and I swore we'd never had kids, we'd been married about 7 years when we decided to take the plunge. There's been days that were just from hell I won't lie. That was the early years where we were super sleep deprived, which can make you very angry/snappy. I feel most days now are great and the kids are age 4 and 2.5 and I'm glad we did it they bring me great amounts of happiness. But I see other friends whos kids are older and they don't seem happy at all about the decision to have kids. Then I have friends who love kids so much and are having more. it really depends what kind of person you are and your capacity for shrugging off hard times.

There is one reason that can easily compensate all those lowlights. The way my son puts my head into his little hands and draws my face to give me a kiss and hug before he falls asleep. Not to mention all those other moments when You know, that being a dad is the best and most important job which You can have in Your life. Brivid You have it also inside, but You need to have baby in order to relase those feelings. When You will have a small child in front of You, and You realise that it cannot survive 24 hours without Your atention and help, Your mind will change and You will become a parent. Without having a child You will never understand this.
I'm a dad and love it, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with not wanting kids.

They don't tell the biggest secret - the unconditional love and super powers that you get when you have kids ;) You will never feel something more intense.
I already get unconditional love. My superpowers are exactly what I want them to be, no children involved, Maybe for you it was the very best experience in life, but that does not mean it will be for everyone else.
Been living a good life without superpowers up to now - guess I don't need them ;)
Didn't know only kids could bring that. Pretty sure you don't get to decide what's more intense for people
Or you know, you could just accept that someone else does not want kids without the "But you get unconditional love etc etc" or the usual "you'll regret it" comments...
@VIcky Plenty of people in senior homes have children who never visit. It's not a guarantee. And besides, having children because you're afraid of being old is extremely selfish.
You won't ever know the intense feeling of having no children as a mature adult. It gives you super powers you couldn't dream of. But alas, it is too late for you to try it...you have kids.
Unconditional love? Oh come on! Maybe between age 0 and 6, but after that it just gets messy! I mean, does anyone here still "unconditionally" live their parents? Exactly
