Bear Cub Wanders Onto A Farm And Authorities Suggest Putting Her To Sleep But This Man Decides To Raise Her
334Kviews
An unexpected guest was recently wandering the village in the Borisovsky region, Belarus. A malnourished bear cub was looking for food, and one farmer came to the rescue. He now has a very unusual pet he never imagined owning.
Too young to be accepted at the zoo and definitely too young to survive in the wild alone, this story might have had a dramatic turn for the cute bear, but the tiny cub found a home on a farm owned by Nikolay Vasilievich Terletsky.

Terletsky, who sheltered the cub, was given two options: either return it to the wild or put it to sleep

Brown bears are very rare in Belarus and are threatened with extinction, so the species has been listed in the Red Book. Aware of the law, Terletsky has contacted all possible authorities regarding his special situation, but was left with the same answer: either return it to the wild or put it to sleep. Terletsky couldn’t let the little bear baby face this tragic fate.
Huntsmen searched nearby forests for two days, but couldn’t find any signs of the cub’s mother

The cub was too young to survive on its own, so little Vasilisa legally stayed on the farm

Huntsmen patrolled nearby forests for two days in hopes of finding any signs of the cub’s mother, but without success. The cub didn’t have any chance of surviving in the wild without her mother’s care and protection, so Terletsky decided to keep her on the farm. Eventually, a committee of competent specialists issued a “passport” for the bear cub, who, by that time, had gotten a name: Vasilisa. Now, the healthy and playful cub will start experiencing the world in a new way—surrounded by the love and care of humans.

Terletsky plans to build a huge enclosure for Vasilisa with an observation area

What does the future hold for this orphaned bear cub? The farm, which specializes in fish farming and has created a network of ponds, plans to launch touristic services, and Vasilisa would be a pleasant surprise for visitors. To make this happen, Terletsky wants to build a huge enclosure for the bear with an observation area.

It is a species in extension and they suggested to put her to sleep? Good thing that this nice man had common sense and love in his heart to save her.
Sadly, our bureaucracy has no common sense – only scripts that they're afraid to break.
And the scripts are written by morons, who can't see three steps ahead of them.
This is so sweet. This bear will have a bright future.
I don't think a future in an enclosure is 'bright' by a bears' standard but Iit's certainyl better than death. And it's certainly very sweet how these tough faced blokes fall in love with a wee bear cub.
They can take a hands off approach to raising it so it can be released back into the wild once it's grown. As a cub, it would be easy prey for several larger predators. It needs to be fully grown so it can handle itself out in the wild. Not wise to do it indoors, best to build an enclosure to keep the cub safe while raising it.
Depends. The bear will not face the threat of predators while growing up, has a steady food source, and medical care. It's not a bad price to pay vs certain horrible death in the wild.
An enclosure is what zoo animals live in. No, it's not the wild but obvi the wild is not working out for this species.
I just cant understand how there are countries that let (in this case suggest) people to kill endangered species. It baffles me. Or like some say "harvest", because animals are like berries that you joyfully pluck out of the wild while doing a harvest dance.
Harvesting over populated animals is actually very important for the ecosystem. Plus, at least for deer, it creates far fewer vehicle hits and a great source of meat for hunters and their families.
Long overdue to start harvesting human beings by that logic... we're the worst scourge and threat to have developed on this planet. Wonder who will eat our meat?
The deer aren't overpopulated! The humans are! How's that for a balanced ecosystem? They are running in the same place they always have, only now there are roads and houses there. This argument is weak.
Oh please. The only reason we have to hunt deer is because humans eradicated their top predators.
Except this is endangered in Belarus. Perhaps she can be part of a breeding program!
Always find it so ironic when humans harp on about harvesting 'over populated' animals for the sake of the ecosystems lmao harvest yourself if you care so much! lol
Hi, Stupid. There is no overpopulation of top predators. That is a LIE hunters perpetuate in order to shoot human habituated animals and call it "sport" It's really a pile of micro brains wanting to shoot something. I live in cougar, wolf, moose, deer, etc country. Hunters abound and when one rolls his atv over and dies of hypothermia, it's a joy to read about.
Ben Smith, everything humans do can do HUMANELY !!! They did not get their brains to plunder, torture, murder, destroy, obviously you don't think so. The most over populated and also most destructive animal on this planet is human animal. The human animals are not helping ecosystem - they are destroying it to no return !!! There are billions upon the billions of animals raised and slaughtered on this planet and you are telling me that poor hunters have no meat (arteries and cancer causing "food') and are starving, so they have to massacre OUR, MY wildlife???? By the way, if people stopped destroying wild lands there wouldn't be any animal overpopulation !!!
NMN: why kill endangered animals? Ben Smith: killing animals that are that opposite of that is good.
And they are harvesting, and harvesting, and harvesting till there won't be anything to harvest. What will happen next? Every half-brained human knows answer to that question. Human beings are very curious, "Was there a life on the planet X, Y, Z?" they are asking. "Is there life after death?" some wonder, many strongly believe in some vague promise of "heaven" and in equally nebulous "afterlife". All right, what about to take care of life, all life, here, on this planet, right now ??? It is the responsibility of every single human being....or the end will be bleak.... and painful for us too. For animals...it already is.
Dutch, there will be no creature left on this planet to eat our meat.
I understand your sentiment but the reality is that certain species need to be harvested in order to conserve the species. if left to procreate without conservation, over time the area of the habitat would not be able to support an uncontrolled population, leading to starvation and disease. I do not hunt and could never see myself do it. but, I have had family members that will hunt for personal sustenance and they literally use every part of the animal they can. that kind of hunting I can support but I am against any kind of sport hunting as that is based in vanity and ego.
Says the human.... haha Don't you see the irony, Patti?
Patti how can you write so much nonsense?
Patti Vance, hello, there is only one species on this planet which is "conserving" every single species to extinction. And please don't give me that "personal sustenance" nonsense. Every hunter finds thrill in killing.

Yes, you are right they are in the LC spectrum and I failed to notice. I am not familiar with bear population and distribuition, never studied them during my masters or PhD in Ecology. Also, I could not find specific info about the pop in Belarus, only a 2012 article showing a decline in the population. Either way there are countries that do allow killing of endangered species, my post is about all of them. But if you want to know, the killing of top predators in general is not a smart move, being them endangered or not. If you disagree you are welcome to look up articles about it. I had a few articles about the subject in some folder in my pc but wont go try to find them now for you. I do understand if there might be any specific situation where that is not the rule, but have never seen studies pointing that way. Not my main field of study, but I welcome any interesting articles.
They are extensively extinct from many of their traditional habitats. Don't regurgitate hunter nonsense and pretend it's actual science, you dimwit fucktard.
NMN, if you are looking for interesting articles, Mike Bolt has those "researched" by hunters for you.
