Baristas can be true lifesavers—they make that delicious, sweet coffee that gets us through the day, they supply the masses with tasty shakes on a hot summer day, and basically provide a much-needed service that all of us have used at least once. But not all is good in barista land. For one, they belong to customer service, which comes with its own challenges that have long been documented. Another difficulty for baristas can be... their job as a whole.
A Twitter user who goes by human plushie (@INTERNETM1LF) started a viral thread where people posted the kind of ridiculous orders they've received from customers (and each one needs to be fulfilled—that's the service, after all). There's a whole plethora out there, and here are some of the more notable ones.

The orders can range from absolutely bland, something akin to water with little to no flavor, to an essay length of requirements that the barista will have to figure out. And let's not forget, because the customer is always right, these drinks become a true challenge of willpower. Some even asked for a bee in a cup... Why? No one knows, but it's there.
And these orders aren't generated at a single central point—you can find them in all the cafes and shops that offer drinks. The majority do come from Starbucks, but there's a Dunkin' Donuts in the list too. Basically, no barista is safe from the scourge of silly orders, for which we can only offer our sympathies.
I'm glad they decided not to take whip, that would have been too much.
We all probably have our favorite drinks, but these orders take it to the next level. And seeing how some of them are very excessive or just downright mocking, it's safe to say that customers sometimes go overboard. This also gives a glimpse into why so many baristas look overworked (or forget your name... they have mile-long orders to remember!)
How do those pumps work? It's 50 cents for each pump or 50 for all 24 of them? I guess the price is fixed, right? Cause some of the orders in this thread would be insanly expensive.
Ask customer if...they need insulin after all that dang caramel syrup!! Geez!

Excuse me I ask for whatever amount of pumps I want and the price is the same?? Where is the logic to that? There should be extra charge let's say after 10 pumps and that would help with obesity problem in America! Cause the whole post is the reason why there is such problem there!! There shouldn't be unlimited amount of pumps with the same money! How they make profit?

I just wonder: how do people find out these mixes? So many pumps of this and so many of that. I just cannot figure that out ...
YEAH! That’s exactly what I was thinking, how do they come up with these? Are they ex employees who figured out a magic combo after hours? Do they have a syrup collection at home they experiment with to figure out a perfect pump to coffee ratio? Is it part of a math or science class somewhere? I didn’t even know you could ask for a specific amount of pumps of this or that.

I can't believe they have an ordering system that allows these options, asides from anything, adding so many extras to drinks has got to be losing money.
This is why I like my coffee black... no milk, sugar, flavor... just rich roast straight. I'd die of glucose poisoning just looking at these.
These are terrible but in high school and college i want to be a Starbucks barista now.
I once got a small cup filled with only caramel and crunch, no drink, but only because i needed it for my moms b-day cake.

Just so you know, not going to Starbucks doesn't make you interesting or a better person.
I wouldn't even be able to order these things. Halfway through, I'd just forget what I was even doing there. Not to mention that I'd rather shoot sugar right into my veins instead of putting that stuff into my mouth. I like sweet things, sometimes, but this is just gross
Are all these extra pumps free?? I've not been to a starbucks in ages, but in all other places you pay 50 cents for adding one syrup.

FORGIVE ME PLEASE! But I am at a loss as to why anyone would "junk up", put a WHOLE LOT of stuff into, their coffee if they went there to drink COFFEE?! Now mind you you'll still might get a "slight" coffee taste, after a truck load of things are put into it HOWEVER it just seems to me that it's "NO LONGER COFFEE"when one puts all these different things in it! I DON'T know I am not a coffee drinker in any way shape or form but I just think it would ruin/NOT enhance it's flavor?! Just wandering! And I DO know that everyone's taste(s) are different from each other's but I've been asking myself for a long while now, WHY?!
Now I feel so lame because I will just order a green iced tea with extra ice
This might as well be in cyrillic or something because I don't drink coffee and don't frequent starbucks and have no idea why these are bad but the don't look like coffee.
They should make them stand there and drink it, I think they do it for pics like this. No wonder Starbucks failed in Australia here we drink decent coffee.
I don't know what a lot of these terms mean. What does blonde mean ? What's the difference between the sauce, drizzle, and syrup? And other words I've never heard of. I typically get just a black coffee if i do go to Starbucks every once in a while but i really like the iced caramel macchiato when I have a sweet tooth.
My husband and I owned a coffee business. We had a customer ask for a mocha. She took one sip and said yuck this tastes like coffee!
If any customer goes to Starbucks to order an inordinate amount of syrup, they should be handed that blended ice for their health. Ooh, or that cup with the wasp in it!
